Salad Dressing Idea

You guys probably already know this, but if you take a laughing cow wedge, and break it up/mix it with water, it makes a good 3 or 4 salad's worth of salad dressing. If I EVER get some gluca-whatsis, I'd add some to make it a little thicker..

Another good one is Hellman's low fat mayo, spicy mustard, balsamic vinegar, a packet of splenda + one splash lemon juice. Sort of tastes like a honey mustard.

Duke's mayo thinned with pickle juice tastes surprisingly like ranch without all the chemicals.

Oh what fun! Thanks for posting this. I have been measuring one or two teaspoons of salad dressing forever. These sound like great alternatives!

I just spray ACV on my salads usually, for 0 calories, but I may try some of these ideas. I also like Bolthouse Farms dressings for 35-45 calories per serving. They're really good. I use them on UDs too.

I usually just use SF rice vinegar. But Wish Bone salad spritzers are 1 calorie per spray or at least the one I have is. I think mine is balsamic something or other. The walden farms 0 calorie mayos make good dip or dressing watered down. Probably zillions of chemicals- it is 0 calories after all. If I have to pick my poison I will let it be an occasional franken food.

I use 0% Greek yogurt mixed with garlic, apple cider vinegar and sweetener, sometimes add whole grain mustard. To save even more calories I sometimes use just the acv with sweetener and a little garlic.

Great ideas here!! I'm so attached to Litehouse blue cheese dressing, so I've only been eating salads on my up days. Maybe I'll stray away and try some of these and make my DDs more exciting.

I'm another fan of the Bolthouse dressings. I haven't had a bad one yet. But sometimes, I admit, it's hard for me to allow 45 calories for a dressing, so I'm eager to learn new things.

The Walden Farms dressings are, IMO, an abomination. But the Bacon Ranch one is acceptable and the coleslaw dressing is, I think, hideous on actual coleslaw but very nice in tuna salad.

I love all of your ideas! Thank you!!!

Here is the dear Kimberino's Ranch dressing ( by the way I miss that sweet JUDDD budd, I wonder where she has been hiding??? )

Kimberino's Ranch Dressing Only 25 cals per tbsp

1 clove garlic, very finely minced
1/2 Tsp salt
1 C Hellmans Light Mayo
1/3 C Buttermilk****
2 Tbsp fresh parsley, minced very fine
2 Tbsp fresh chives, minced very fine
1 tsp white wine vinegar (I tried another kind of vinegar, but didn't work as well as white wine vinegar).
Fresh ground pepper to taste.

Mix all the ingredients thoroughly with a whisk to make a creamy dressing.

**** I add a little extra buttermilk. I think that only using 1/3 cup makes the dressing too thick.

lowcarbinca, I tried your salad dressing idea this afternoon. I buy the Aldi's lite cheese wedges, 25 calories, so I used that. I mixed one with a single tablespoon of water, so it was fairly thick. So I didn't stretch it as much, but it certainly made a nice cheesy dressing since I didn't have any blue cheese dressing. Thanks!

I usually save salads for UDs but to lower calories I sometimes use 1/2 my favorite ranch and 1/2 lemon juice, salsa, low cal bbq sauce or walden farms bacon ranch and sometimes a little water if it is thick. I thin tuna or chicken salad with pickle or yellow pepper juice.

On down days I eat veggies that don't require salad dressing... cucumber slices, green beans or put them on a sandwich with mustard... lettuce, tomato, pickle, roasted red bell pepper, yellow pepper rings, onion.

I often add green beans to Progresso Light soups on DDs.

Yes...thanks lowcarbina. I had seen something similar on Pinterest a looong time ago and forgot to try it. The one I saw used a laughing cow wedge thinned down with ACV or red wine vinegar. Now...I need to remember this for my next DD.

I have done the one where you add a packet of ranch mix to cottage cheese you have put in the food processor. It is tasty and really low cal. The only thing is that I am one of those people who has texture issues. After a day or two it isn't as smooth and creamy as the day you mixed it. I suppose I could put it back in the processor...but it just seems like a lot of effort and mess to have to keep reprocessing it. Using the LC wedges sounds easier.

DD or UD I almost always use salsa. If it isn't that type dressing I use just a tad of Light raspberry vinigrette.

Good suggestions. I just add vinegar or lemon juice to my favourites. But I might be trying the cheese idea, nice.
