knowing an UD is coming tomorrow

is so helpful! On week 2 of JUDDing, I am noticing this calmness and reassurance about getting to eat that is helping me do my DDs fine... eg last night I made my son, a ravenous 16 yr old footballer, some brownies, and had one to cap off my UD cals... most of them are in a tin on the counter today, and in the past, I would have been so tempted to have more (more, more), but (a) they weren't that great (a new brand of mix... the Ghiradelli mix is clearly a winner), and (b) UD tomorrow, so no compulsion.

so far 6 lbs off... I know some of that is water/bloat, but some isn't, so this is very heartening, to think that I might be able to *stick* to a WOE, cuz that is the ultimate test.

There's something about being able to say, "I can eat tomorrow" isn't there? I started about the same time as you, 8/24.

I'm only down 3 pounds, but I'm happy with that, my birthday was last
Wednesday and there were quite a few Birthday meals UDs. Today, after a UD yesterday, I'm only up 1/2 pound, I'm hoping that means I will have dropped another digit tomorrow.

it really is so incredibly freeing to have that built in permission to eat what you choose "tomorrow". It is always a new day

I love this post!

Especially if you have a great deal to lose, the prospect of never eating a damned brownie until you hit goal weight is just completely demotivating.

Once doing very low carb, to combat this anchor dragging on me, I promised myself a monthly cheat night.

What was my big cheat? I ate a pork stir fry at a Japenese steak house on a bed of rice. And it then took me FOUR WEEKS to undo that damage, so I never scheduled another cheat night again.

I can't wait to eat a brownie until I lose weight. I can't wait to eat a brownie for a while month. Maybe not even a whole week. But I can commit to not eating the brownie tonight, knowing that I can have it tomorrow. And that seems to make a huge difference.

Congrats! You're doing great.

thanks guys

I am having a starvin Marvin kind of DD though (did I jinx myself???)... lordy lordy. hanging in there though. funny how some DDs are not too bad, and some are tough. I will keep reading about this re others experiences of the hungry-hungry-hippo DDs and some possible strategies... caught some glimpses of this on some threads. And I will keep trying to notice any patterns of my own re timing, solid vs. liquid, bulk, protein, fat, etc etc.

Tooraloora...I remember feeling exactly the same way, and still do! I reached my first goal April 6th 2012, have maintained easily since then, and am now working on my last goal of 5 to 10 more down. It will depend on how "scrawny" I look after I lose 5 more....at my age! I look so forward to my UDs!!! and have in maintenance too! The "break" I took was fun and showed me how easily we can maintain our losses. If any new budd is interested, I never ever stopped counting my calories...ever. I know myself too well. I think (for me anyway) it's a small price to pay to keep my weight where I want it! Didn't take me long to figure that out!!!.....BUT...I've....Got-it-now!!! Keep on keeping on.....it's soooo worth it!!

FWIW, I find I need caffeine, and early... helps set up for less hunger the rest of the day.
That's my one and only tip that works consistently for me. Sometimes I go with the hunger and up my calories, and other days I manage to grit through it (and other days aren't as hungry and I can go lower in cals... never know).

Enjoy the journey of learning new stuff!

thanx Phyl and Soren. will take note re caffeine, and see. I wonder if having a 160 cal protein shake is worth it... vs. a salad with some shrimp, or egg whites, etc. We shall see... and maybe the odd day is just randomly a hungry one

Phyl, I am setting my goal weight about 5 lbs above my lowest weight from my big loss effort... I was gaunt, ppl thought I was sick, and I was wrinkly! Was it Catherine Deneuve who said you've got to choose between your bum and your face at a certain age? I know at my lowest + 5 (around 137), I am lean and slim and feel foxy and fine, but don't have that Convict 99 look on my ID So good luck figuring out a good goal weight that is not having you too scrawny!

Get the Chocolite Chocolate Shake brand. One scoop is 75 calories. You can put it in a magic bullet with coffee and ice and you will have a very filling combination that leaves you room for a shrimp cocktail.
