My social eating marathon

So, seven weeks ago I hit 134.8 - my lowest weight in roughly forty years.

And entered a delightful six week marathon. Eight days of my family reunion followed by three rotations followed by a vaycay with DH's niece in Portland, two rotations, five days of house guests, two rotations, house guests, three rotations, visit friends, two rotations, house guests, three rotations, and so on and so on and so on culminating in a Labor Day celebration Sunday evening (should have been a DD).

Please understand almost every person I know is either an amazing cook or an actual chef. Get togethers are never just enjoy the company. We feast. Many of those days revolved around everybody kicking in and cooking amazing, complex, rich, high-cal meals (while, of course, talking talking talking).

I have this theory: no one forces me to eat anything. Eating to my calculated calories - or not - is a decision I make. And I decided I had to taste - and sometimes gobble large quantities of - everything. I didn't overeat to the point of feeling stuffed. Rich food tends to be filling...and high calorie. I did not count those calories.

I did, every time I had a chance to rotate, eat every clean, very normal DD/UDs. Then, mouth wide open, I threw myself back into the great food.

Monday was a normal - just below RMR - UD. Yesterday was a normal, 400 calorie DD.

After six weeks of feasting and only 'dieting' intermittently, this morning I weighed - wait for it - 134.8.

Now, it is time to evict those last 4.8 or 6.8 pounds before the Autumn/Winter holidays hit!

I love JUDDD. I plan to spend the rest of my life eating this way.

JUDDD cares about calories. JUDDD does not care what you eat. Your body probably does.

Good going!
I love that about JuDDD. On strict low-carb, 1 meal off plan would set me back a full week! On JUDDD, a whole day (or 2) may only set me back 2 days, if at all.

Nancy, you've done an amazing job! I'm afraid I'd be up a bit more than that, but I am able to eat and eat on many of my UDs and as long as I'm faithful to my DDs, the weight comes right back down. I love maintaining with JUDDD. It makes life so enjoyable!

My god that's amazing! I'm so happy for you!!!!

When I went on vacation in July, I gained back all six pounds I lost, but they did come off relatively quickly when I returned to rotations, so this makes me so optimistic!

Yay, Nancy! Your story is the perfect example of why we encourage people over and over to do JUDDD well and then be able to reap the many rewards of the plan! This illustrates just one of those benefits!

When Dr. J writes that the SIRT-1 gene assists with weight loss by inhibiting fat storage and increasing fat metabolism, it explains how we can *get away with* periods like this without ruining all that we have worked so hard for!

So instead of setting yourself back by ten and twenty pounds... (and there you go again, having to lose those same pounds over and over again, which is what happens on other diet plans) on JUDDD you have built up a certain level of protection from rebound weight gain happening so quickly. Woo Hoo! It is so heartbreaking on many other diet plans to relax like you did, and enjoy the social occasions and visits and joyful feasting with your family and friends, and find your punishment for daring to eat like a more normal person is that weight gain. AGAIN. You dared to indulge in the forbidden foods or the excess calories and carbs, and now you face losing those same ten and twenty pounds.. AGAIN.

The JUDDD Down Day is of such a huge importance in gaining this protection from quick rebound weight gain, which is why we urge folks over and over again to do it as written and do whatever it takes to do it successfully. Instead of trying to bend the plan to be something you find easier to do, just do JUDDD! And get that SIRT-1 revved up and working for you at top-notch strength. It's so worth it!

Glad you had such a delightful and full and delicious summer.

I'm more impressed to see you made it through the 2 houseguest experiences without damage than any of the rest. People responsibilities are much more serious than event temptations - the most difficult challenge to JUDDD rotations, IMO. Good job.

Nancy!! How utterly exciting! Thanks for sharing this fantastic news.

It's birthday month for me and most of my friends do the "lets-have-lunch-or-dinner- and drinks" celebration, so it will be a month of deliciousness. I hope to have results like you!!

It is so much fun to have good cooks around to share their wonderful creations. I was invited to a friend's house for dinner and the guy was trained in culinary skills in Lucerne and made Chinese food- nine entrees! I had never tasted anything like it before and it was O-M-G out of this world.

I am so happy you got to feast this summer and come out with such fantastic results. You truly are an example of how JUDDD works!!

All of my dieting life, whenever I have done something like that, I undid all the hard work I did previously, so this post just gives me hope!

Amazing job, my friend!!

Nancy, I too am heartened by this news! You are such an inspiration to us all, and to know that we can engage in real life (which sometimes involves eating the most delicious food) without undoing all the hard work we've done. I am especially glad to hear this since I'm now living apart from my scale.

You are a love for sharing your experiences with us, and I'm so happy for you!!!!!

Great, great, great post! I was so freaking encouraged by this - did I say great? - post! I KNOW that we are all here because we've eaten too much. When someone says that getting together, whether it's the holidays, bbq's, vaycay's, weddings, church get togethers, or whatever, shouldn't be about the food, I just want to roll my eyes. Indeed, they might be right. But, getting together with family and friends just seems to go hand in hand with enjoying food together.

If JUDDD can do this for all of us - live our life, enjoy our friends and family, and rotate when we can - wow.

Great post, Nancy!!

It really does feel that way, doesn't it?

Like so many of us, I lurked here for several months before I committed to JUDDD. And, like so many of us, I went in very worried that JUDDD could not possibly work for me. But JUDDD was the first plan I found that transitioned naturally from weight loss to long-term viable maintenance - with healthy side-benefits. And, again like so many of us, I had lost, stumbled, and re-gained too many times. It wasn't worth it to all the hard work it takes to lose again...only to put it all back on. I needed to know that there was an inkling of a chance that this time, if JUDDD worked, I could see a future.

I have seen my future. It is full of rotations. It is full of being a little bit proud of myself when I realize I am not the heaviest lady in the room...and I know how to stay that way.

Wow.

AWESOME! Nancy, that is a great story! It makes me so to hear it!

I was surprised when I came home from a week long vacation and weighed in 2 lbs over what I was the week before - and lost it in 1 DD. I did not restrict, but mostly just ate until full - which is another breakthrough for me. I wasn't perfect, but I'm so proud of myself.
