I would give it 5 today. I was able to fast all day till 5PM. I think this was a first time I able to do it.

Plan to do about 550-600 cals. I'm having salmon patties, salad with grape tomatoes and low cal Italian. Excited to have a good DD dinner. I wish I hadn't had the calories I've already had, so I could be at or under 500, but still feel fairly virtuous.

I finished dinner and it was very good. I'm at 505 cals for the day, and I may have a 40 cal fudgesicle later.

This is my 2nd DD and other than eating too much too soon in the day, doing OK. Give it a 4 so far! A little high at 632 but hope to start bringing that down. Sipping on hot decaf tea - it's cold and damp here. My first DD was Sunday and I felt shaky the whole day. I'm sure my body will get used to this!

I've read this whole thread -- beginning to end. You guys are awesome and I've learned so much. I see that many of you are holding off toward the end of the day to eat. Is that because eating something right away triggers you to eat more or be hungrier?

Another question. What does UUAD mean? Are there any more I need to know.

Also, don't feel bad at not hitting your DD calorie goal at first. My highest was 848 (supposed to be 426). It was TOM, so I figured my hormones had a lot to do with my lack of self-control.

I'm that way, definitely. If I hold off 5-6 hrs after I wake up to have 'lunch', I'm good until dinner time, which is usually a late meal. When I've tried eating earlier, it just makes me ravenous. I drink LOTS of Mio-flavored water during the day, along with tea.

UUAD = Up Up and Away Day

I've had more of these than I should! It's when you go wayyy over your UD calorie limit. I'm still trying to teach my stomach some restraint.


Mine's been about a 4. A little more hunger than usual, but my fluid intake had a bit of a slow start. I'm sitting at 383 cals for the day with 43 to spare. Will probably have some SF jello later, as I'm working late (as usual).

Pretty good. Had a new green tea (licorice earl grey, made from green tea) and it's doing it's thing. I only get hungry when I think about food or read about it. But I have a filling dinner planned, so should be fine today.

Wildflower, I try to leave myself some calories for the evening, so I can eat right before bed to help me sleep. Congratulations on your second DD! They get easier, I promise

4 today - been obsessing about food, worried about the holidays, etc. Feeling a bit off, probably fighting the cold ds and dh have had. Calorie restriction is on schedule, happy about that.

So far, so good. I'd say 4.5. Only black coffee so far, and I'm hoping to make it to dinner for my 4 egg and cheese scramble. Quite a big dinner and still only 423 calories.

Not at all high for your second DD, many people here stated at 700 and never really had to go lower, though they are the exception rather than the rule. But right now you are asking a lot from your body, the Sirtuin hasn't kicked in yet so you are doing fine.

A lot of people wait until later in the day for that reason, for me it it is simply that I enjoy eating in the evening.

I had a 5 today, although I have probably had more than 500 cals.

Spent time with a dear friend at lunch time and had a a couple of glasses of wine and some bread with it.

Tonight I had a cob of corn followed by homemade mushroom soup.

Was quite hungry today. My usual coffee only morning left me starving by 10 am. I had one egg and a mini chocolate (eek!) .

Its almost 7pm here and I'm at 500 calories.

I plan to have a tea before bed and thats it really looking forward to an UD tomorrow!

...so all in all today is about a 3

Busy busy today...it was a good DD, though (5). Coffee this morning while DS ate donuts at the coffee shop with me. Diet soda while DS & DH ate Qdoba with me. LOL!!! I did fly through the Wendy's drive through for a small chili, though. Crazy here with all the holiday stuff going on, just hardly home today. I did eat 2 of the pretzel rolo candies I made during yesterday's UD, too.

I had a crappy DD today. I'm coming down with a bad cold, and felt rundown, tired, grumpy, and hungry all day. I ended up going over my limit by a couple hundred calories, but I guess I felt like I needed it. Oh, well. Tomorrow is another day, and I'm hoping I feel better! I'm having some coconut coffee right now for a treat, and will soon be having some cold medicine for a nightcap. Cheers!

Today was a definite 5, 1st calories around 7:30pm and I'm about to eat something else to end around 400 calories. Felt great all day, big improvement over last DD.
Heading into 2 UD to change rotations, so Saturday will be my next DD.

I want the recipe for the candy. For tomorrow.

So far today, I'd give it a 4ish. I've had 32 calories so far and it's 11:30 am. I want to save most of my calories for evening, but haven't done that very often yet. We'll see how well I can hold out today.

B - Just coffee, with 4 tbs of a substitute creamer I'm working on, but it's still not very good lol
L - Big salad with fresh lemon juice as dressing
D - Big plate full of spaghetti squash primavera

I have about 118 calories left for the day but am hoping to use only 20 for my big bowl of gluc pudding later tonight. The next four days are gonna be tough.

Easy day so far hunger-wise. I had my chili at noon. It's almost 4 and I haven't even begun to think about dinner.

Plus, I rode my scooter to work! That made it a fun day, though it'll be dark on the way home and I haven't yet ridden at night. The fear is keeping me from being hungry I think!

Kissa -- Without going back to read everything, when does Sirtuin kick in? I'll keep looking for it in the meantime!

My 3rd DD so far is absolutely awesome! "5" Had coffee this morning, then a small salad for lunch around 2pm. Was going out for errands so took a shake with me and really didn't finish it till I got home! Had chicken breast with lettuce leaves and dill pickle and some celery for dinner. Up to 325 so if I go to 500, have 75 to play with. I'm so not hungry right now I don't think I'll need it. Maybe just have a cup of broth later to warm me up before hitting the bed.

Doing this and it is great! Arlene

I am going to give my DD today a 3-4. I've had a few good DD's now which is good. I would give it a full 4 if it hadn't been for my cravings and wanting to give in because it's christmas next week... MUST resist.

About a 2. Stress from the storm causing repeated internet crashing and recent comments from family/friends resulted in a day of white-knuckling as far as food is concerned. I know I'll be going over my 426 for the day, doing my utmost to keep it under 500.

Changing mine to a 4 from a 5. Got reallly hungry so had some broth and a cup of broccoli -- still a good number at 413!!! Hope I can go to sleep, still a bit hungry, cold and the wind is howling. We're getting rain and wind from the storm that has hit the midwest. Hope all are OK.

Arlene, it's worth reading the threads on this. They're exciting.
Many people say a couple of weeks. Nancy (gotsomeold) says she remembers exactly when it happened during her second week, if i've got that right. Increased energy, easier DDs, faster weight loss.
Some people take longer and experience it less definitively.
My DDs got easier within a few weeks. And I think it took me a couple of months before it felt like JUDDD was carrying me rather than the other way around.
