I don't like this DD
I am rating it a ONE. If anyone here(home) asks me to make them something to eat I will scream! I'm so sorry I forgot to pick up some diet hot chocolate. I think that would work...Hope you feel better Librarygirl... ![]() |

Lg, so sorry you're ill!
![]() I am on my iPad and can't see who was having their 1st dd today, hope it's gone well!!! Ended up being a 5 for me today, although started out a 2. I was super hungry this morning. Ignored it with some coffee. DH wanted me to pick him up for lunch, so I ate some Wendy's chili. Wasn't hungry, but it was yummy! Not hungry the rest of today, but had errands to run and picked up my skinny peppermint mocha to sip on...still am. Yum! Should be about 400 cals today. Good enough for moi! |

4ish- I was hungry mid-day and I actually ate some of my celery at work. I haven't done that in a while. Now it is 7:30pm and I'm good. I know I'll enjoy my regular bedtime snack- didn't have it last DD because I was doing the potato thing. I just like plain ol' JUDDD. No more PDDs for me

I think I was around 500-600 calories/day and sporadically hungry on my down days at first. Now I'm in week 5 of JUDDD and having an excellent DD of 300 calories--and I feel perfectly satisfied with that. So I'll rate this DD a 5 for me. ![]() |

Today is my first DD, and I'll be honest that it's been a little rough. I had an Atkins strawberry shake for breakfast around 8:30, and by noon, I was starving. But I wanted to save my calories until dinner, so I just now ate at 6:00. I had a bed of lettuce with some tuna (packed in water), a tablespoon of dressing, and a splash of hot sauce for a total of 180 calories. I still have 160 calories left for the day and I'm trying to decide how to spend them. Another salad or another shake. I don't really have anything else in the house to eat at the moment. I did not do a very good job of shopping for my DDs.
This day has taught me that I love to eat even more than I thought I did. When I had my little salad just now, I had to force myself to eat it slowly so that I could enjoy it. I normally eat everything so quickly. My instinct was to get another bowl, but of course, I couldn't. I'm looking at the clock and thinking how it's going to be at least another twelve hours before I can eat what I want to, and I'm feeling antsy and nervous about that. ![]()

If you are so hungry you think you may cave in...take a few bites of whatever salad fixings you have... celery especially...You will be surprised how just a bit of food will help.. Broths if you have are great too... Don't stress if you go over by a little... better than blowing the whole thing... Anyway alot of people here start with higher than 500 with great results... My DD's are between 450-600 now, I added more lightner to coffee... it's working like a charm. ![]() |

Poor you LG, and you Rayne.
Healing is more important that worrying about eating too much or too little. This too shall passé. Sending hugs. Good to see Newbies doing well too, early DDs can be tough, this is good thread to visit either way. I am having 4, it is a potato day for me. Last edited by Kissa; 12-04-2012 at 06:11 AM.. |

So far I am a 4 this morning..slept in.. sipping on my coffee that I added some half and half and stevia to - instead of my usual unsweetened chocolate almond milk and stevia. I’ll have a spoonful of Cod Liver Oil (supplement to get my fish oil / omega 3’s) to give me a little satiating fat and some liquid Resveratol to wash it all down. I don’t count the calories in my cod liver oil supplement. If I start stalling then I’ll revisit this decision.
Welcome Sea of Sand! I am on my 4th DD, and I must say that each one gets a little easier. The SIRT1 hasn’t kicked in yet, but I think my brain knows that my body will survive with some hunger. It’s just an uncomfortable feeling that I have proven to be able to get through. I don’t do the pre-made shakes because they just aren’t filling enough and I prefer to eat real food. But, I’d like to suggest that you blend your shake in the blender with some ice cubes and a little stevia (or whatever sweetener you choose) and it makes *more* in quantity. Last night on my UD I went kind of nuts, so today on my DD I am going to try to do basically liquids all day (a green smoothie with protein powder and homemade blended veggie soup) until my shirataki noodle dinner. Shirataki noodles are very filling with a tsp of oil of your choice and seasoning for under 100 calories. I hope you are feeling better LibraryGirl and RayneW!! Sorry you had a bad DD yesterday Mere! I am sure the next one will be better! C’Marie, Cindy, Flutter, Svenskamae, Carly WTG on a good DD!

4. I've already had about 300 cals today but they were filling and I was shooting for about 400 all told so I should be good. Ratatouille w shirataki tonight for dinner and that is always filling, yummy and nutritious.

I forgot to get potatoes while I was out-- might go out again, might not b/c it's raining and I have a wicked headache. Started yesterday, but keeping it below full migraine level.
Anyway, besides that, I'd say a good 4. I haven't even had much water yet today, but got a lot of stuff done today. |

Today's Down Day is a 3 so far.
I made a big pot of pumpkin soup that should last me the rest of the day. I've had just under half the soup so far - when I had my second bowl I added a TBSP of HWC to keep the hunger away. Skipped the coffee today - think I might try this all DD's! |

I can of Pure Pumpkin - 350 cals
16 oz of Unsweetened Almond Milk - 80 cals 8 oz of herbal peach tea (it was sitting on the counter ready, and I thought why not) Then I play with the spices...cinnamon, allspice, cloves, cayenne pepper for some spice. This is my first batch made with the almond milk, I made with coconut milk last week and it was heaven, but that was an UD!! I'm hoping this will get me through the day. |

Was planning to eat a can of soup for dinner and ended up eating only half...left other half on the table in a bowl and came back to cat eating it. What cat likes tomato soup?
Mine, apparently. Decided instead to have coffee with cream, and then I've been feeling anxious since...not sure if it's because I am sick, coupled with the caffeine or what. Just ate an orange, just because I thought it might be good for me although I wasn't hungry. Ending DD with approximately 600 cals (could be less).Sounds like all of you are doing well today. Good job Ladies!! Hope: Peach tea in pumpkin soup?! ![]()

I've had a few days like that, too!So far, mine is a 5, which I think is a first for me. I've had 2 mugs of black tea w/2% milk (about 2T each mug), and almost 2 L of Mio water. Hoping I can get through the next 3-4 hours without the Hunger Monster taking over. |

You can do it, Rayne!
DeeDee, yep, I know that feeling! Hang in there! 5 for me...wasn't hungry at all today, but had an outing earlier & plan to fast the rest of the night. Hoping it'll have me at 270 for the day, but might have a diet cocoa later if the cold lingers. Pretty busy evening planned, though! |

So far a 5. No food, just liquids. I'm going to weigh in the morning to see if this experiment was worth it, although I know it might not show up on the scale that quickly.

This is my second DD, and I'm having a 2 day. It's better than my first DD on Monday, which I would have rated a 1. I didn't eat until about two this afternoon when I had an Atkins shake, and I just had my dinner of tuna, lettuce, red onion, a tablespoon of dressing, and hot sauce. I made some Jell-o to get myself through the night, and I'll probably make some coffee in a little while, too. Even though I am hungry and want to eat right now, I don't feel as ravenous as I did on Monday, and that's progress.
