HI DeeDee--
No, everyone's on different U/D schedules, and any given person might also change up their schedule for a variety of reasons so, we finally figured out to have an UD and a DD menu thread -- there used to be just 1 for both, but it split out a few months ago.I often change my rotations, so you kind of get to know everyone eventually ![]() ******* I had a pretty good DD today.... Maybe even a 5 went to the dentist before I even had a sip of water, and then couldn't eat/drink for 30 min after the fluoride treatment... went right out holiday shopping... then decorated the front yard... it was 3pm before I even got a cup of tea! Planned to fast all day and then eat at a social event-- just did my cal count, and I'm at maybe 600. Not bad, given that there were sliders and lasagna! am looking forward to my UD tomorrow-- popcorn and Breaking Dawn movie! (2 guilty pleasures in 1 spot )

![]() I'm new at this too. I've been on the boards for awhile though, doing LowCarb which I've done on and off for many years. Having hit a big stall in the last few weeks I decided to give JUDDD a try. Everyone seems so happy with it! Be sure and read the threads about the many health benefits of alternate day fasting. That is what really convinced me. This is my first UD...yesterday was my first DD. I'm doing fine. Today I feel like I've overeaten but I'm a little below my UP day calories according to the Dr's calculation chart. I'm looking forward to a DD tomorrow....almost...haha. I don't think everyone is on the same schedule, but once you get started I'm sure you will find lots of us on the same UD and DD as you. I think there are threads to post how you're doing on the UD and DD's. I think I'm rambling a little too much....time for bed. ![]() Again welcome and be sure to ask any questions. This folks here are very supportive, helpful, smart, and nice! Last edited by JayLynn; 11-24-2012 at 10:47 PM.. |

So far, my DD is at about a 4 (but it's still early lol). With recent stomach issues, very content to remain on fluids for the day and let my system recover.

I'm glad you're feeling better today, Rayne, and enjoying the DD peace.
Today is an UD for me, technically, but I'm saving ALL my calories for the three Ds - drinks, dinner, dessert, so most of the day will feel more like a DD. This is the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers, and a big tradition with my family. Homemade (by me) turkey pot pie, with top AND bottom crusts, potato pancakes from the leftover mashed potatoes, and the last of the pumpkin pie with whipped cream. All of that will total out to my approximately 2200 calories, so it's tea and water for me until then. I really think I can do it. So far my Down-Up day is feeling like a 4. Not too bad, considering it's following a good DD. Not feeling too hungry yet.

Started the day at a 1 or 2! I was starving! There were 2 sugar cookies left in the fridge from yesterday with fam. Someone brought them, so I'm not sure how many calories...they looked like Pillsbury with the stamped xmas pictures on them. I may look it up. Since then, had 1.5 cups of coffee (60), 2 cups of canteloupe (100), cookies (156)...316...will have either soup (120 cals for 2 servings), or frozen dinner (180), and probably celery and some broth later. Finishing at or just above 500. So far, eating around 500 and a bit more is working for me.

LCG, your UD sounds yummy! Homemade Turkey Pot Pie is to die for! I'll have to tackle one of those soon. I love homemade food but have to be in the mood to enjoy cooking something thats not basic. Let us know how it all went.
Librarygirl, its so good to find out what works. I'm still working on that and am amazed i'm doing so well. My DD has been a 5. I've had a few bites here and there when feeling very hungry. Just finished off some celery and cucumber slices with a couple bites of turkey and I feel FULL! Unbelievable. Maybe its all positive thinking. Its only my third day. Whatever the heck it is, I'll take it! ![]() |

I experimented today...tea/lemon water all day...so a 5 for me. Around 7:30 this evening, I ate 1/2 a sandwich: 1 slice 40 cal. bread, 17 turkey pepperoni slices, & mustard and 1 c. 25 cal. hot cocoa...140 total calories! Surprisingly, I was not too ravished or starving...I did eat all my UD calories yesterday...so that must have helped. No light-headedness or major gnawing stomach pains...goes to show that I do NOT need to eat all the time
I almost decided to go all day fasting, but wasn't sure if that would be wise because I am going to be skipping breakfast on my UD and hold off until lunch time. Anyone know if 40+ hours of no eating is safe or advised?

I think the 40 hours would be fine as long as you are getting plenty of fluids.
A nice 5 all though the day is still young, just one o clock. I've been to the gym and done a Body Combat class. Now I had had as all portion of the mushroom soup I made a day or so ago. Planning more of the same. |

This is my first DD, so I'm not really sure what to expect.
So far, 2 turkey sausage patties (90 calories) One cup coffee with 2 tbsp half n half (40 calories) Plan for lunch is 2 oz shredded chicken and a cup of beef bouillon soup. And lots and lots of warm drinks to keep the chill away. |

Librarygirl, how are you eating these potato's? Are french fries allowed, because that sounds amazing.
A newbie question for all of you--do you count chewing gum on DD's? |

Hi DeeDee,
I never counted chewing gum but others may have. It's funny to remember that just 3 months ago, I'd start to panic if I didn't have enough chewing gum for my DD. I never have it now... DDs change over time! I'm having a lovely, busy bit chilled out DD; food hardly costing me a thought. A magic 5. |

I guess you could have french fries, as long as you measured them, baked them and added no fat.
French cut potatoes would be more accurate. I guess spraying with a little oil (count the cals) sprinkle with seasoning salt and pepper and bake...would be yummy with some SF ketchup! |

If my potato calculations are correct (and I'm estimating based on size not weight), then the 4 potatoes would be 468 calories on their own.Quote:

I count everything. Most SF gum is listed as >5 calories, which could mean 4.5 calories per piece. It could add up. Coffee and tea also have calories (averaging around 2 calories per cup), and I count those as well.

Thanks for the answers you guys! I'm going to adjust my food diary to add in any gum. I can easily go through 5-10 pieces a day so I'm going to have to be careful about that.
Follow up questions--on your UD, is there a time you stop eating at or is it okay to keep munching away until midnight? |

My day is a 3ish...not ravenous, but not completely satisfied either...can go on like this, but feel grumbling in the tum tum.
Not sure what I'll have for dinner...might make potato soup from the potato I have left at home. It's big enough for bf and I both!! |

Hmmm, I think it's a 3 day for me today - obsessing about food, can't focus on work. This morning was bad; the day is gradually getting better, probably because I'm getting it behind me
Gonna take the time to whip up some mango/cayenne pepper gelatin gummies for later today, I think I just need some oral fix because the tummy isn't really complaining too much. |

4.5-5 today. Why I can't just pick one, I don't know.

Kristin, at least you're doing it! I am in a house that was supposed to be a "first" home, not a "forever" one, but alas, it's been 16 years now. LOL!
I am hoping this magical down day energy I keep reading about happens soon so I can do a bunch of work to this place. Anything we did when we bought it has LONG GONE. Doing ok this down day. Haven't eaten at all, but I am sipping on my skinny peppermint mocha. |
