Doing pretty well on this DD. I am eating now...southwestern soup for 60 cals a serving. I was cleaning for about 2 hours before now, and felt no hunger. Immediately afterward when I sat back down at puter, the hunger beast awoke! Hoping this soup will satisfy me, because I indulged in regular creamer, for two cups at 70 cals each. Will be at 390 for today after the soup. Probably will have something else before bed.

Too busy at work today to be hungry. I've had 150 cals so far plus a bite of DH's cookie but I have been baking this evening and don't know how to count a few licks of batter. Too much I am sure. Boy if smells had calories though today would be an UUAD!!! Can't wait for tomorrow's UD!

5 I guess, but I didn't fast. At 3pm I had some slices of starfruit and at 7pm two stalks of celery. The last several days were weird. Sunday was a regular DD. Monday was supposed to be a MD, but only topped out around 500. Yesterday was an UD but felt icky and ate nothing but a small slice of pizza. I am one happy camper that I can get back on track with some yummy food tomorrow.

Whoops!!!! Just posted about this: I didn't eat a thing...but I had a medium skinny latte while out earlier. I think that's about 150-200 cals? I should look it up...at any rate, doing great here! Making t-day sides as I type and happy to not be eating today. Yay me! |

I'll give it a 4.5 right now actually
I was hungry, but then it went away as soon as I posted about it ![]() I'm a bit late making my tea (iced) so I'm sure as soon as I have that, I'll feel even better. I like to grocery shop on DDs actually, so while all my colleagues are doing the US Thanksgiving thing, I may sneak off to have a mid-day grocery shop expedition. |

Somewhere between a 4.5 and a 5 today. The only reason I may knock a .5 off is that I just got dressed for the theatre and my stinking pants are snug. I've had some awesome DDs and UDs and thought I'd be weenies by now.

About a 3 today. Having leftovers in the house from yesterday is messing with my mind, even though I'm not really even hungry. And we just got invited over to a friend's house tonight for dessert
It's going to be tough, but I'm determined to stay on track today! |

Feeling 3-ish. Stomach is acting like a petulant toddler, growling loudly, and I'm doing my best Tough Love routine. I'm happy sipping my tea and would rather not be bothered by the noise.

5 today.
Made 2 soups after the gym, then went out. I ate some little baby prawns through the day, then cooked a small venison steak really rare and had that with carrots and mushrooms. Oh and some soup! Felt great all day and no hunger at all. |

Today was great. A 10 in fact! I walk/ran 5 miles on the treadmill and had plenty of energy to spare.... except I got a nasty blister on my middle toe. I only have this crazy amazing energy on DD.... which is weird, but I will take what I can get!

First ever DD day
I'm pleasantly surprised that my first DD has gone so well. I will score it a 4 because at times I have thought about eating, but realized it was just out of habit and not from hunger. Why can't I just forget about food??? At least until my stomach reminds me... oh well, that will happen eventually, right?
I have stayed below 500 and if I HAVE to gnaw on something before bedtime, I'll have a piece of celery. Its my go to food when I need something low carb and low cal. |

5+ I forgot that it was a DD until I looked at this thread. DW is in the kitchen eating leftovers and we saw The Flight today. I thought the smell of popcorn would be tempting, but no. I'll have my Thanksgiving leftovers tomorrow!

About a 3. I was shooting for maintenance cals on DDs this weekend and I did it but I am hungry and was feeling deprived because all around me the family was eating leftover yummies. I made good, low cal choices and ate about 900 cals. Not fun though. I guess this is another reminder of one of the reasons I don't do a regular low calorie diet day in and day out.

First DD after T-day feasting for 2 days, and it's feeling great so far. I'm trying to keep to really low calories today, 'cause tomorrow is homemade turkey pot pie, potato pancakes, and pumpkin pie. And wine! All my calories will be dinner, so I'll coffee it up all morning and afternoon and FEAST again tomorrow night.

My biggest question is whether I should stick to very low carb or go ahead and eat more carbs, just a little more, after a successful DD day. I know I'll have to experiment and see what works, but just wondering what your experience has been. Hope you're having a great weekend! Enjoy that turkey pot pie tomorrow...sounds wonderful! Oh and so far everything is going well. This is my first UD. Had eggs, bacon and OMM with butter and SF jam and of course my morning homemade mocha with HWC and CO. 700 calories with the hwc and CO. Dinner is baked chicken with a mushroom sauce, steamed veggies with butter, and I need to add something to get to UD calories. Oh what a dilemma! ; ) Last edited by JayLynn; 11-24-2012 at 12:44 PM.. |

Hi Jan. Well, as you can see from my menu for tomorrow, I'm not low carbing at all this week! But as a general rule, I've kept pretty low carb since transitioning from LC to JUDDD. My past experience has been that when I'm eating a lot of carby foods, specifically sugary, bready type things, I don't feel as well. I feel gassy, bloated, kind of achy and creaky in the joints. Less energy. I don't know if that would change with JUDDD, and I haven't added back that kind of stuff much yet, aside from the occasional pizza or this Thanksgiving.
I have been adding back some fruit, and things like squash and peas and a tiny bit of corn. So far, so good. I haven't felt the old "symptoms" coming back, but I do try not to eat those things every single day. I'm still very happy with my low carb/higher fat diet. Eggs, bacon, beef, sour cream, butter. Love it all. I do believe that, for me, it's the combination of not-so-low fat and high carb that makes me feel yucky. That said, there are quite a few really successful JUDDDers here who have added carbs back in and have had/are having great results. KeirasMom, Kissa, gotsomeold, SoHappy all come to mind. I hope you're looking forward to figuring out the best way for you. It's really a great journey, and you're gonna learn so much about yourself!

Good job, Carly. I thought I was a carb addict too, but I think I was overeating them because I was in that cycle of deprivation/binge(ish)...not really a binger but just ate with gusto because I was tired of "dieting" and felt deprived. Now I can eat carbs in moderation and know that it's something I can enjoy without overeating. Does that make sense?

Yes, yes, yes! This is what so many of us here have learned. We overate on carbs and we overate on low carb too. We just overate, most of us. When I got so stuck on Atkins I reduced my calories and upped my exercise and made my life miserable. During my first 2 or 3 weeks of JUDDD I ate low carb and was astonished that I started to lose weight. Then, after reading here I saw that others were having similar or even better success while including carbs. So I bit the bullet and ventured back into a land I had forsaken some 11 years before. As I was warned, I saw an initial bounce, just a couple of pounds or so, and then there I was, losing to goal and beyond and eating everything I had thought I could never enjoy again. Not saying it is the road for everyone. But I believed LC was the only way for me, and I was wrong.

JUDDD seems to take that deprivation thinking away. Knowing I can eat to the point that I'm completely satisfied, AND without restrictions every other day seems to satisfy psychologically as well as physically.
I believe I also overate on LC because, again, that deprivation thinking going on...if I must eat FAT and only fat (exaggerating of course), then I'm going to have tons of it, lol. Last edited by Librarygirl; 11-24-2012 at 04:31 PM.. |

I think I'm going to continue eating low carb. No carbs on DD's. I'll have my coffees, eggs, bacon or sausage, meat or fish, all in very small amounts to stay in the calorie count.
Yesterday I had planned to have half a bagel this morning, but when it got right down to it, I didn't want it. Had my eggs, bacon, OMM instead. I found that really interesting! Today I had pumpkin pie minus the crust with whipping cream. It was so good. I'll be curious to see what the scale says in the morning. I'm really liking this eating plan so far. I'm so full right now on my first UD and feel completely satisfied. Thanks everyone for your info and support. It really helps. Last edited by JayLynn; 11-24-2012 at 07:40 PM.. |

It's so interesting to hear everyone's thoughts and input though. The JUDD forum seems incredibly welcoming. A quick question for you all--is everyone on the same U/D schedule? It seems like a nice thing to be sharing the days meals with others who are also on a DD or an UD. I'm trying to decide what day to start (once I learn as much as I can and plan my meals in advance).
