I will say a 3.5 so far, but it is only 3:17 and my hunger peaks at 4:00. I am having more of a psychological hunger today. I just want to eat. I feel like making a pan of chewy dark chocolate brownies and sitting down with the pan and a fork!! Tomorrow is lunch out with friends and dinner out with my goddaughter, so I know it will be a high calorie day so today I must toe the line!

I have re-started JUDD today and raised my DD calories to 800. It was very doable today. I hope to lower the calories slightly as I go along.

1-2 and I had 799 cals!

I think I blew too many cals on jerky and a protein shake.

or maybe I am PMSing... with perimenopause these matters can be random

I am having a tea, and a bath, and praying this gnawing tummy does not keep me from falling asleep.

I have also been totally irritable (mostly internal) with ppl today... makes me think I should get out the calendar and see if I might actually be PMSing. I want a reason for this wretched day

and thankfully, tomorrow is an UD, and tomorrow is coming.

I blew my DD today.

Stress Eating.

I think I should have a good Up Day tomorrow. Today's calories are just garbage. I don't think I would be able to complete a DD tomorrow, maybe that was the problem to start with? I did not fuel the body with good food on an UD to sustain a decent DD?

What do you do when you blow a DD? Make the next day a DD? Does that mess with the rotation?

I've hit a bump.

Hope, if that DD becomes a MD, you can just go on to an UD. If it became an UD, you can do a DD next. All the best with it. We don't get it right every day, that's for sure.
Today I'm at a 5. But it's 6am. Thought I'd get in there early enough to feel perfect.

That's what I was thinking about my DD today. Actually, I feel cruddy and just decided to take a sick day so I'm thankful I can crawl under the covers and have a stress-free DD...not expecting to hit more than a 3 on the 1-5 scale though.

Today is a 2- but it's my own damn fault. Didn't sleep, worked waaaaaaay too much, didn't exercise and ate crap yesterday. So today I am starving. Ugh. 205 cals so far. If I stick to 500 today I will be happy tho the scale might not be.

It's only about 11 a.m. but so far today's DD is a 5+ and YAY for that!!

I had a really good night's sleep and got to sleep in til 7:57 a.m. which is awesome and I never get to do that.

Tuesday was such a successful DD with only 300 calories of lean protein late in the afternoon. Even though the hunger was seriously painful, I stuck it out and was rewarded with a 5 pound drop on the scale yesterday morning. Memories of that are keeping me energized and hopeful today.

The scale stayed exactly the same this morning after yesterday's UD and that made me HAPPY. I'm also happy not to be having the tummy growling, aching and hunger pain yet today. But, I also feel like it was a precursor to the big number drop yesterday. So, I'm thinking if I get any pains this afternoon I'll cross my fingers and hope for another drop tomorrow morning.

Very glad to be rid of the gain I had after my 4 day indulgent weekend in only one DD/UD rotation. Now I can concentrate on moving into new territory.

I like this thread! It's like a DD journal for us all. Very good support group.

I'm at a 4 I think - feel good, and have done a ton of cleaning. Still a bunch to go, but I feel good about getting things organized.

Later in the day now. This morning I spoke too soon about the 5+. Half an hour later my tummy was growling louder than an angry bear. I decided to see if I could power through it instead of eating something and I did. Feeling pretty good about that and patting myself on the back right now.

So, I'm moving my rating for the day so far from the 5+ to a 4- now. Hoping I can make it through the rest of the day and stay at or under 300. But, I won't beat myself up if I can't. Getting to this point is pretty good.

Wasn't looking good an hour ago. I finished my calories by 1pm. This happens occasionally for no reason I can identify.
So i've just been saved by a bowl of iceberg lettuce with vinegar and salt. Volume, crunch, and salt. Back to feeling like a 5.

I had the same kind of day as Kristin - don't usually eat until later on a DD but I wasn't feeling good and I was HUNGRY. Ate most of my cals by 1pm but had tummy issues which means I got bloated and also probably don't have much food left in me :blush: Just had some Greek yoghurt and am done!

1. I woke up at 7am, it's 11am and I haven't had anything to eat. I'm hungry and all I can think of is food even though I'm busy in the office.

I'm the same. I'm drinking so much water this morning I've spent most of the time in the loo It's my first DD today so I'm hoping it's not too painful!

It is 14:40 and I am sailing along, getting a lot of crafting work done, had not even thought about food. Let's see...40 cals of hwc in coffee this morning. Water since. Amazing.

4.5 today.

It's noon and I've had 5 calories in coffee so far. I've been to the big warehouse store this morning and purchased loads of water, Rockstar, and sodas (for the office) and that's pretty physical. I'm starting to get a little hungry, but I take lunch at 1:00 so that's coming pretty quickly.

Yesterday was one of those UDs where I had to fit in an extra snack just to reach my UD calories (wine, apple, cheese), so the old appetite's been pretty good the last few days.

well better than last DD...

but still hungry almost all the time from noon on... and about to go to bed hungry!

I would say a 3.

but had 550 cals, which is better than my last DD at almost 800 and worse irritability and distress. spent my cals more wisely.

I am kind of astounded at all the 4s and up though... does it get easier? do you remember being hungrier in your early days (I am just completing week 2)? Also I wonder if it is related to your normal eating style, which for me is to eat every 2-3 hrs, so I am really unaccustomed to going w/o food for long periods

This is DD #1 for me and I'd rate it at a 3.5

My calculated goal is 550 but in my mind I figured anything between 5-600 cal would work. Today was 570 cals. I've been doing Atkin's at 30g of carbs/day for the last 5-6 weeks and have had a few days were I didn't eat much, maybe 800-1000 cal. They were spontaneous, so it was easy but it definitely prepped me for today.

So today I did get hungry, sometimes very hungry but it came in waves and was manageable. Crystal light I have found for me does wonders for hunger. Yeah I pound a lot of it (2qts today) but it's tasty and really takes the edge off. Since I was off today I held out for as long as I could then ate a few hundred calories and reserved some calories for 'dinner' so I wouldn't go to bed hungry.

I found that after about the 3rd rotation it started getting easier, and by the end of the second week (I just finished 4th week), the DDs became very tolerable. I tend to fast through breakfast with coffee and a little cream, and generally don't start feeling really hungry until 1 or 2 pm, so my first real meal doesn't happen until afternoon, and my remaining meals are closer together.

I know it probably won't be this good every time, but I sure appreciate it for the time being.

I don't know if you exactly lose the hunger, but after a while you realize it's not a big deal. Once that happens, it doesn't feel so bad, if that makes sense. I still have hungry DDs, but not all of them, and when I do, it's just a part of life now.

Regarding your eating style: Once you find a DD menu that keeps you satisfied, I'd say try to replicate it and see if it works the next DD. It' does help.
