I just want to say--for anyone who really suffers on DD's--try Pat (so happy)'s method--eat 35-50 calories every hour for 10 hours. I am NEVER hungry any more on DD's--I always have a little treat to look forward to--I have my food/hr planned out for the day--none of the gritting my teeth to get thru a DD--
AND I think that this method is going to lead to more balance on my UD's. If I am not deprived and starving on my DD's, no need to overeat on my UD's, YKWIM? just wanting to share--this is my 5th DD using Pat's method and I will never go back. I'm not like those folks who feel great not eating for hours--oh, sometimes I can do it, but I tend to feel dizzy and crummy--my blood sugar stays stable as a rock with this method. |

Ouiz-- I'm going to give it a try when I'm back from vacation, later in November. I need to make sure I have ingredients to prep all the mini meals, and right now I'm trying to clean out the fridge.
Do we have a thread of 50 cal servings? I know there's a 100 cal one, but I think it would be neat to have your suggested mini-meals listed out |

3 -- I survived my first DD. I have to say it was actually pleasantly ok to "feel" hungry. I like that I feel in control again!

LOL Ouiz, some of those choices are really interesting!
![]() I guess I have to figure out how much of something I like is 50... I know 1/2 serving of my greek yogurt would be 50, and I know 1 turkey pepperette is 50... I know 3oz of baby carrots is 30, and 1oz of cheese is usually 100. Maybe I can do this Wednesday, just as an experiment... hmmm... I'll have to see how the storm goes, b/c I really don't have much in the house right now. |

After my last UD, I lost .3 & after my DD I lost .3 again. Really makes the struggle hard to deal with. Will see what the scale says in the morning.
Storm update in SW Pa.....getting kinda windy here and raining sideways at times! Rain running down our street like crazy, but we still have power. The night isnt over! The worst for us is still on its way. |

Tammy hang in there, patience is key. Great DD today a full 5. I think my lovely fillet steak dinner last night will have been helpful in keeping me full. |

So, I thought for my last DD before I go on vacation
I'd give this every 2hrs thing a try. Here's what I plan: 2hb eggs, 1T lite mayo, on 3 superthin kavli crackers. I can do 1/2 a cracker with the eggsalad on it 10am: 1/2 kavli with some egg salad - 59 cal 12pm: 1/2 kavli with some egg salad - 59 cal 2pm: 1/2 kavli with some egg salad - 59 cal 4pm: 1/2 kavli with some egg salad - 59 cal 6pm: 1/2 of a bag of broccoli slaw stirfried with 1/2 a chicken/artichoke sausage - 112cal 8pm: other half of above - 112 cal 9pm: 1c almond milk with davinci's comes to 502 cal 25 g net If every 2hrs doesn't work, I can have 1/2 the amt every hour... Just working with what I have in the house

Okay, I'm going to try the mini meal thing. When I first read it I thought, no way, ridiculous, absolutely not for me.
I should know by now (I eat dirt, I drink oily coffee) that I'm going to end up trying everything here. Tomorrow. I'll report. Thanks. ![]() |

for me, variety is key. Also, I notice it probably takes me 10 minutes to eat my little snack and then I am only 50 minutes away from the next meal, lol! Also, I am a shrink with 50 minute sessions/10 minutes in between, so the little snacks are awesome. I now have a long list (different, obvs, for home vs. office) of 50 calorie minimeals. I thought I would miss having a big dinner, but it is just the opposite--I am barely hungry for dinner when the 6 o'clock hour rolls around.

Feeling much calmer than I have been lately. Third day w/o coffee. Yesterday was headachy but today okay. First DD in about a week is going well so far. Not particularly hungry. Eating about every 3 hours.

Cici, I'm glad you're feeling better, and calmer. I guess this is a big learning process for us all, how our bodies respond to different eating, foods, and even timing.
I'd say today is a solid 4, so far. I'm just now having my "breakfast" coffee w/cream, and it's noon, so that should help me get through the afternoon w/o much eating. I think I might wind up under 400 calories today - that'll be a first for me! |

5!
I just want to thank Pat for sharing the idea for the many mini meals. DDs will never be the same. It's amazing that a little bite of something can hold me over for an hour before it's time for the next mini meal. Another great thing was that yesterday I didn't feel the need to over-stuff myself thinking about the hunger I'd feel today. It is only my 2nd DD doing it this way so maybe it's too soon to be sure. I will weigh in the morning and see what happens with that. And I haven't gone through tom doing DDs this way but I'm pretty sure that I've found the way that I'll be able to continue doing JUDDD forever! |

5! I don't really struggle with DDs, but I'm so happy that eating a mini meal ever hour is helping so many JBs. I like not having to bother much with food on DD, but I may give it a try on a weekend DD.
