So.. Carly.. Do you think this way of eating is going to work for you?

Impressive month of doing the work and reaping the results. Congrats! And to think that every other day is an Up Day. What a fabulous plan.

Hi Ya'll!

Well I have reached a new low for me, 141, I think I may even change my stats...

I didn't really change my weight in a huge way, but I did meet my August goal of maintaining all month under 145 and that was including 2 weeks of vacation. This is truly unprecedented for me for the past 25+ years, normally gaining 8-10#. JUDDD is a miracle in my life I just have to say!

So very impressed with and happy for all of you on those numbers, girls!!
Looking forward to all the good reports to come in the next few days....

p.s. Carly, are you doing anything special? That is really an amazing loss, especially considering how few pounds you have left to goal compared to me.

I lost 8 pounds in August! Woo hoo! And although it's not completely from JUDDD, I've gone from 242 to 220 since June 10 (started with Atkins). I'm so proud of myself and can't wait to get into a new decade in September!!

Congrats to all of you for your August losses!

I know... I wish it was some magic combo of things that I could just replicate for next month. I think my body was just ready to set the fat free. In July I lost less than 5 lbs and the 10.5 came off between 8/13 and 8/31. All I can say is I do really good rotations with low DDs. Under 200 when possible.

And all my JUDDD Buddds... What awesome losses. We are all a big group of losers!

Posted over on the daily weight loss thread but realized I shudda posted here.. Oh well. I'll repeat for your wonderful folks.

Well, last day of the month, so I'm checking in with my stats...didn't meet my goal of the month which was 189, but saw a loss with which I'm happy....

happy dance happy dance happy dance

6/4 214 I started this WOE
7/1 202 overjoyed with the quick first month results
8/1 198 happily in onederland (and still holding the gate open)
8/31 192 total of 22 pounds gone, thanks to JUDDD and all the BUDDDs

goal for September...185...I'll be merely overweight, no longer obese according to the BMI charts

happy dance happy dance happy dance

I found another box of smaller clothes, so I may be able to postpone my shopping trip for another month, although I've asked a friend to go shopping with me (she knows all the good spots) when I'm definitely in a smaller size.

Thanks to all on this forum, you've been a very big help....keep up the good work.

Well done everyone!
I have lost 4.5 lbs in August, 1 lbs less than plan. I am very pleased though because I was on holiday etc. during the month & have a good number of UUAADs! I usually would have gained!

Put me down for 2.5 August pounds!

Just one pound away from my long-time JUDDD maintenance number, so I'm delighted.

Wasn't losing as fast as I lost in 2009, but now it dawns on me I upped my workouts, so of course I gained muscle and the scale slowed. I was trying to figure out if my hormones were causing it or if I was being pulled into the gravity of the long-time weight. Those might have been little parts, but the muscle gain was probably it, and that's a good thing.

I JUDDD.

great results everyone

I have only been on JUDDD for one week... but so far so good: 5.3 lbs gone

I know at least half of that is bloat/water... but I'll take it! I lost every day but one 0.7 bounce up... the next few weeks will be more of a true test, but I am optimistic for the first time in about a year that I can lose the 35 lbs I regained over the past 4! I love having flex/freedom on every other (up) day... and that I think will be my saving grace in being able to stick to the plan (vs. white knuckling feet to the fire dieting for 2-3 weeks, max... sometimes 2-3 days or even 2-3 hrs... offset by jailbreak eating, and actually regaining and overgaining whatever I lost... ).

glad to be here!

I'll bet you can count on most of your months from now on being pretty good ones. You are really doing JUDDD well! You are getting in good and true Down Days.

It usually takes a few weeks of doing really good DDs to get the SIRT-1 gene aiding in our weight loss at its strongest, so often we don't take off as well right at the beginning. Some weight loss, but not as great as it might become later, but we are all different here. The influence of this gene isn't like a light switch, where you flip the switch and it's turned fully on. But we can expect it to reach its highest ability when we do JUDDD well, which you are doing.

By doing JUDDD so well, you have been able to activate SIRT-1 strongly, and once that gene is able to strongly exert its influence, it definitely increases our body's ability to release the fat from our cells. SIRT-1 is a survival gene. So activating it to goad our fat cells into emptying their lipid contents to aid our survival in times of famine is part of its job, and being able to get the fat out is a big part of how much we can lose in a month, obviously.

Trying to lose weight can be done with a sluggish SIRT-1 influence, but it's slow going. Losing weight with the aid of SIRT-1 helping to empty the fat cells makes it go much faster. And that all goes back to doing the very best DDs you can hold to. Those low calories really do make a BIG difference in how well JUDDD can work for you. Well, and also not going over on UDs, obviously. Each over-done Up Day just drags down the rate of our weight loss by flooding too many calories back into us, and all that excess having to be stored away somewhere. And here we go... stuffing the fat cells back up. Luckily, SIRT-1 helps here some too.. inhibiting how easily our body stuffs the fat cells back up again, and it tends to guide our bodies into burning the excess calories instead.. in other words, running at a higher burn rate, it serves to rev up the metabolism a bit. Yay!

You're showing us how it's done, Carly! It's always exciting to see someone just rockin' the JUDDD!

Note to self: remember Carly's fist two weeks of August, in which that scale just wasn't moving, but how she kept with it and then she just whooshed out of the rest of the month with those 10+ pounds.

WTG Carly! For hanging in there during the first two weeks as much as for your amazing loss.

Yup. People sometimes don't realize that JUDDD isn't like other weight loss plans, and the health benefits of Down Days reach far beyond mere weight loss.. that they are, in fact, healing. A lot of work is being done inside our bodies during those extended fasting hours, and some of us are in dire need of that healing, balancing, housecleaning.

It seems like once that we are nudged back into better working order, it's like our bodies are finally able to release fat more easily, and then we really begin to see the losses on the scale and with the tape measure.

But Carly is responsible for this by her devotion and adherence to doing her JUDDD rotation and respecting her calorie limits. That's a big key to success. LOL She's my inspiration!

Thanks Pat and Chris!
Someone wrote in a tread about "giving up on giving up."
That's where I'm at... giving up doesn't feel like an option so I just keep on keeping on.
I love this way of eating since to me it doesn't even feel like a diet on DDs. I have so much energy and spunk that I don't mind not eating. UDs are like a fun bonus...
