Great that you are experiencing all the lovely DD energy Inca and Fitmom, the magic is definitely working for you.

Cic, you are doing well but will certainly do better if you try a little harder to hold to your allotted DD cals. Good luck.

But re-read the book last night and after reading here for a couple days I've realized I really need to get my DDs to 500 calories or less. Dr Johnson's site gives me about 390 but I'm going to go with 500 now and work my way down.

I want to lose 20-25 pounds. I'm not going to weigh myself all that often as it tends to make me a little crazy when I do. I don't care that much about losing it quickly, I just want it off and to be able to keep it off with a WOE that is sustainable for life. This seems like it might be the one.

Looking forward to learning more through this great forum.
ILoveMustard! You've come to the right place for great and helpful information about the JUDDD.

Thanks. There is so much information and variation here that I get distracted by all the different things people are trying and forget to just do the plan as written before trying to tweak it.

Yesterday was perfect. Today is a free day but will probably be a good UD. Tomorrow I will try to duplicate yesterday.

Thanks for caring enough to remind me.

I've almost completed my first month of JUDDing and I'm amazed how much I've learned. It's been pretty easy and a lot of fun - even counting calories, which I approached with a lot of resistance to begin with.

My weight has crept down steadily and I guess the sirtuin has kicked in recently because, this week, I've had a couple of not-hungry UDs and yesterday was my first not-hungry-at all DD. That was something I never expected to happen!

I've finally got the message about pre-planning. As I went to get my brunch, I realised that I can have it later and turn this not-hungry-so-far UD into a MD. Thus I can shift my rotations on a day, so I don't have two lunch dates on DDs next week. Now that's what I call having your cake and eating it!

Thanks to all my lovely JUDDD Buddds for your wonderful help and advice.

Flossyliz I am so delighted that you are seeing success and enjoying the wonderful benefits of JUDDD.

Enjoy your MD and the two lunches where you will be able to relax and, except for looking slimmer, no one will even guess that you are on a 'diet'.

So this is now the end of my 5th week, I started at 169 and here I am at 160.5, (just one pound away from a new digit!!!) After the JUDDD magic kicked in, (and my birthday celebratory meals ended) I've been losing a steady 2 pounds a week. I've lost inches too, clothes are fitting better and my muffin top is gone. If I hadn't seen Adi losing weight for the last year, I would have never known about JUDDD. I had tried ADF, but was a bit too austere for me.

One thing I'm working with this is Dr. Fuhrmans Super Immunity. He lists foods that are high nutrient and has you make them the mainstay of your diet. His acronym is G-BOMBS, greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries. For anyone interested in eating high nutrient with JUDDD, he is a wealth of information. Since we're eating less calories, the ones we do eat should be nourishing.

FlossyLiz, Sounds like you really have it. Congratulations on one month. You are doing great.

Dakini, what a super update. Glad you are feeling the magic. I just got one of Fuhrmans' books from the library but haven't cracked it yet. Looking forward to it.

Today marks one month for me, too. Can't say I'm as comfortable as you seem to be. Still, the up days make this the easiest thing I have ever tried and although the scales haven't moved down in the past two weeks, the total loss for the month is 6 pounds. Guess that is reasonable. Hoping for another whoosh soon, to help with motivation. Still trying to find a comfortable down day recipe. It's not like I'm suffering greatly. Just aware that I would like to eat something. So, I seem to be getting through the day in two hour increments. Some days I feel great until about 2pm. Others, like today, I am hungry all day. Actually, I was hungry all day yesterday and it was an UD and I was eating. Maybe I'll get one of those post hungry day whooshes tomorrow!

The GREEN SHORTS FIT (ZIP & VELOR WAIST CLOSES)

Thought I had posted here but it was on the "newcomers" thread.
Put aside a pair of green shorts that would not even go over my hips to my waist on Aug. 3, 2012 and this morning I took a walk in them. I am so happy but had to change to "gardening clothes" but will pack them for my "Birthday Gift Cruise" on Oct. 9th. Birthday this Sunday and will be 70. Weigh the first DD after Oct. 3, which will be Tues. 2nd, so weighing in on Wed. the am of the 3rd.
I AM SOOOO HAPPY today.
Been fighting a bout of poison ivy with my right hand having the worst of it so far- hand looks like polish sauages and having to use Rx. numbing cream. If I can keep from waking it up by scratching it isn't so bad but any touch of any kind on it and it is screaming.
Sorry for being MIA but the gardening is a catch up problem from several weeks of being depressed- "what I call the inertia of despair". VOWing not to let that happen again.

Hey Cici52, I always hope that if my mind is leading me to eat on a DD, it means I'm going to be down a 1/2 pound the next day. What are you doing for your DD's? When I started, I did powdered drinks, which weren't bad, but yesterday I tried eating real foods. I was surprised at how much food I got to eat. One cup of frozen berries was 100 calories (still in the 90's here, so frozen was good), I love arugula, and 2 cups was only 20 calories, a little dressing, a medium roma tomato, 3 mini peppers, 3 olives all came to 160 calories, then dinner was 2 cups of broth with simmered kale & mushrooms. That was a lot of food for a DD. With my morning coffee & cream it all came under 400 calories. After coffee, I switch to tea so I always seem to have something to put in my mouth, LOL. Anyway, hope that might give you some ideas to combat your hunger.
Lainey, congratulations on your shorts fitting!!! We have poison oak here in California, it's horrible. I never reacted to it until I got caught up in pulling weeds and mistakenly pulled up poison oak roots while it was dormant. I felt like a leper. Then for a while, I could just be in the vicinity of poison oak and break out. Thankfully, I haven't had a breakout for while, sending you my deepest sympathy.
Hope everyone's had a great week!

Lainey, kudos on the shorts. A major coup! Am feeling your pain with the poison ivy. OUCH!

Dakini, thanks for the ideas which I will try. I've actually tried a number of different approaches and sometimes have a pretty good day but nothing so far works consistently except waiting out the hunger. Guess that is good practice if nothing else.

Cici, I agree, it's been a good discipline to be able to postpone eating till the next day. Being able to tell myself I can eat something tomorrow has made all the difference.

When I first started this, I realized that while I might catch myself thinking about food on a DD, I wasn't really hungry, my mind just thought it should eat. The trick for me was to make my intellect take charge, rather than that part of me that's like a little kid whining, I want that!

Thank you Cici and Cindy.

I think I've been very lucky to find what works for me relatively quickly. Let's hope it lasts!!

Cici, if it's any consolation, I had an uncomfortably hungry DD early this week, then went on to have several not-hungry-at-all days, which I think is probably when the sirtuin kicked in. I hope you get your well-earned visit from the whoosh fairy soon! Reading through the posts here helps a lot when I'm feeling hungry. Window shopping is a great distraction too!

Great results Dakini and Lainey. Poison oak and ivy don't sound like much fun though!

hello! i have been on Atkins for almost a year now and I have lost 41 lbs, but as i feared I am at a plateau. I started JUDDD this week and I'm hoping this will shake things up. I'm weighing tomorrow (today is a DD) and hoping for some movement. I have been lurking here for a couple days and you all seem so positive and helpful. My stomach has been growling for a couple hrs but aside from that I feel pretty good!

Deborah! I'm just finishing up my 4th week, and love it. I lost almost 55 pounds on Atkins and was stalling, and JUDDD broke the stall. I'm a weekly weigher (is that a word??) and as of 3 weeks I had lost 7.5 pounds. I'll weigh Tuesday morning after my Monday DD, so I'm hoping for another pound or 2 to finish out month one.

Good luck, and let us know how you like it!
