Burn more calories = lose weight faster?

I was wondering if anyone knows if we exercise more and burn more calories without changing our alotted calories for the day, will we lose weight faster?

Thinking about boosting my workouts.

It really depends on your metabolism. Most of us, when we exercise, don't increase our calories to meet that, and do great. Some go too far into stress response and stall if they're burning more calories. I say try it for a couple of weeks without increasing your intake, and reevaluate if it's not working.

I walk a mile or 2 on most DDs. I use some very light weights for arm exercises. I can't do anything to vigorous due to spine issues, but I assume every bit helps.

For me, vigorous exercise simply makes me ravenously hungry, so I eat more an nullify its effect. I've been doing Callanetics for toning, and that doesn't increase my appetite, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on my weight either.

Exactly what I wanted to say!

What kind of exercise are you doing?

I've read several articles recently about how to *not* go into stress response when exercising.

Apparently, exercise that taps into your fat stores (like an hour on the treadmill) regularly* is interpreted as "stress", and makes us store more fat. Sort of the opposite of what one might expect.
But things like short cardio (20 minutes or less), weightlifting, HIIT-type workouts are said to be best for encouraging your body to release fat.

Toning exercise like yoga, Pilates, & Callanetics are great; I've never seen any mention that they cause a stress response.

*I'm not sure, but once a week or so might be okay, in order to build stamina.
I'm also wondering, if a person was doing a lengthy hike, walk, bike ride, etc, but took breaks for snacks or sipped on a drink with some calories in it, if that would give them enough fuel that they wouldn't burn fat?
(omg, it sounds so crazy to say "don't burn fat" during exercise! but I swear, that's what I keep reading!!!)

Obviously I don't want to discourage exercise as its great and has its own benefits regardless of weightloss but I haven't found strenuous exercise to help me lose weight, conversely it has often caused my weight loss to stall.

However, I find that weight lifting and light cardio like walking is great for my weight loss but (as PJ pointed out) if I do a lot of cardio, it seems to stall me. Of course YMMV but I've been focusing more on toning and its been great for me.

Currently I do about 45 min walk/jog. I walk for 1 telephone pole and jog for 2. I am trying to do more interval training because i heard that helps burn more fat rather then jogging continuously. Wasn't sure if I should try walking twice a day for a total of 90 min or do a exercise DVD or ride my bike etc. i have the brazilian butt lift video. I must be burning at least 200 cals in 45 min. i currently weigh 157 not the 143 on my signature!!

I'm kind of experimenting on the exercise part--I'm only a week into JUDDD, but I didn't exercise at all last week. On Atkins, I did at least 30 minutes of cardio(elliptical, rowing machine, or treadmill) 5 days a week--and I had an 8 week stall doing that. So I'm going to wait another week before hitting the cardio and see what happens.

Never thought I would say this, but I'm missing my morning exercise.

When I was in WLM and hit a stall....seriously upping my exercise for a week or so (without changing eating) often helped. I exercise pretty regularly.....usually 6-7 times per week, 1-2+ hours each day.
