WOE: Moderate Carb JUDDD (Lost first 4 lbs on WW)
Start Date: 7/4/2012 -- 42 lbs lost total
7 Weeks on JUDDD--Weirdest Week Yet

My weigh-in is Wednesday so that's the number I'm going with today as I re-set my stats. I'm down 4 lbs this week! That's 15 lbs from JUDDD and 19 lbs total.

This week was super weird for me on JUDDD, though it may have something to do with the fact that my alter-ego has a contemporary romance novel that (should) release today! Lot's of stress surrounding that one and construction on my home at the same time, so I was kind of at my wit's end. And yet, I still was able to stick to JUDDD which I find kind of amazing.

Here are the ups and downs of the week.

Downs:

Increased Hunger. Holy Moly, while the scale kept dropping wildly, I experienced hunger on a scale not felt since the very first DownDay. I was dizzy, cranky, with painful stomach cramps. And my hands were shaking. I was a total wreck that day. Worse, I was even hungry on an up day--so much so that I went up over 2600 calories one day, on purpose, because I was not kidding around.

Exhaustion. I don't know how much of this is JUDDD or how much of this was just the stress of the week and working my tail off, but I was so tired I couldn't count straight or be depended upon to drive. But even as tired as I was, I was suddenly unable to sleep more than 5 hours a night.

Ups:

Vanishing Appetite. I know I just said I had increased appetite, but this is where it gets crazy. Two days after the wild hungries, I lost all appetite. I had my first down day of 200 calories--and those were all bulletproof coffee. I didn't see a need to eat. (Something I can't ever remember saying in my life.) I was still without appetite the next day and only got in my up day calories because we went to dinner at KFC. Not the healthiest way to fill your fuel tank, but let me tell you, it's not that hard to hit 2k calories at that place in one meal.

Simplicity. Like buttah, I find creative writing on a DD to be a challenge. (Not always impossible, but much more of a challenge than non-writing days.) However, when it's editing/marketing/meetings/construction/moving furniture/cleaning/errands days, as it has been this week, DDs actually seem to take some of the pressure off. Yes, I felt horrible at least one DD this week. But it was just generally a bad day as well. I was able to cruise through the other ones while running about because what to have for supper wasn't even a concern.

Holy Weight Loss Batman. I can't complain about the accelerated weight loss. I'm not sure what's up with that, but it has put me in spitting distance of my first goal. 270 is a bit of a scary magic number for me. It's the lowest I was able to go on weight loss drugs. It's the lowest I was able to reach on Atkins. It's a set point for me, but instead of eying it with fear, I'm actually kind of eying it with the thrill of victory.

Strange Things I Get to Say: My husband is starting to get used to the crabby DD response to his returning home: "My god, can we eat dinner now? I'm starving." But he kind of blinked at me yesterday when I said, "Well, we have to go out for dinner tonight--somewhere really outrageously fatty--because I haven't eaten all day and I won't be able to get my calories in today otherwise."

I love and relate to all of these, pros and cons alike! I also had a couple of hungry days this week, and lost 3.4 pounds! It makes the hunger easier to take in some ways when you get a nice drop like that.

Wow, that's a great loss. I've had a strange week too. I lost my appertite completely, just had no interest in food. So I was disappointed to see a gain on the scales. I thought maybe I hadn't been eating enough so I made sure I had plenty of calories on yesterdays up day. And all day today I am starving- keep thinking about food and how to sneak an extra little snack in ha!
I must try really hard though as I have a lovely new outfit to wear for a hen weekend (bachelorette party) I have coming up next week.

Steph, 19 pounds?!?!?!?
What an incredible accomplishment. Particularly because every week is different.
What a ride, what a ride.
I wonder if it changes what you'd tell new people here. ??

(Imagine what blowing past 270 is going to feel like!)

Wow, has it been seven weeks aleady?!?! I love reading your updates and am so happy for you and the 4 lbs! That is one heck of a weight loss week....and it included KFC! Amazing!

I've been annoyingly stuck at a number lately and just realized yesterday that it is a set point I hit two years ago and could never move past. So I decided to just stick with the rotations and try not to get too worked up about the number and *hope* that my body will decide to release me from this number soon! I'm wishing for you that you zip right past 270 and never look back!

Fantastic about the 19 pounds lost! I think that you will sail right on by 270 and never see it again and congratulations on everything else that you are achieving as well!
How many people who are losing weight get to say things like I need to go somewhere really outrageously fatty for dinner tonight I think that sentence totally sums up why I can stick to JUDDD and of course all of the great health benefits.
I am glad things are working out so well for you!

That's why I rarely mention that I have a degree in English. I make mistakes, then never hear the end of it! But see, PJ, you caught that one and I read right past it.

Awesome! And yes, when it got very bad, I told myself that the discomfort I was feeling was fat being burned off my body. If the scale had not reflected a change the next morning, it'd have put me into a troublesome headspace. But I was rewarded!

I think that's why WW was not the best fit for me, because I would feel like I was suffering every day and see almost no change in the scale and it's hard to keep your willpower strong under such circumstances.

Seeing pain followed immediately by gain keeps me stronger.

Trust me, this only means that I can tell a rousing story. I can make you laugh, make you cry, make you want to flirt with your husband or punch someone in the throat.

But I can never remember when to use 'take' and 'brought' and if there were awards for creativity in spelling, I would win them.

Any real writer knows that what it takes to make a good book is a good editor and an eagle-eyed copyeditor!

Haven't had the chance to do it, but it's on my list of things to do, Yam-Yam. I want to convince my husband to try it. He doesn't really have much weight to lose at all. He has been thin as a rail all his life. But I'm worried about his blood pressure.

Congrats Steph! I would love to know more about the book!

Looks like ot has been a crazy week for a couple of us. I was super hungry on my dd on monday, wasn't eating a lot on monday due to stress and no time to eat, wasn't very hungry either. Tuesday was okay, but I had kind of a 24hrs flue yesterday, felt horrible the whole day, still felt a bit crappy today, wasn't eating close to my UP cals, so I'll see how tomorrow goes.
Lost 2lbs as of today, yay!

Good luck losing all of you!

Steph: If you get him to sit down and watch this with you I'm willing to bet he will want to at least do the 600 calories one day a week IF. Be sure and keep watching. It's about 3/4 of the way through when Mosley goes to Chicago to learn new human research on ADF. It's after that he learns about the Five/Two diet (two days of eating 600 calories, five just normal eating; any two days, not necessarily consecutive).

His results were amazing! He lost 10 pounds in 5 weeks and he's not even heavy. All of his blood work changed dramatically for the better. Just ask your White Knight to watch it with you because you want him to understand more about the science behind your WOE.

Bat your eyelashes, or maybe sing to him like a Siren Song.... He'll do it for sure!

Yeah, I think if we watch the video together he'll be up for it. He can be an abstemious eater at times, so I doubt it would be difficult for him.

I gotta run, but I have lowered my blood pressure dramatically, with all natural stuff:
olive leaf, hawthorn berry, magnesium, potassium, Vitamin C, hibiscus tea...

If you're interested, let me know and I'll put together a list of how much I take.

Steph I am thrilled to read 19lbs gone. Was it only 7 weeks ago we 'met'? You are really making this work.
