My personal experiences with exercise and JUDDD

I have been doing JUDDD for a little over 2 weeks now and was concerned about the effects it would have on my exercise. I did LC for years, militantly, until I started exercising and then everything fell apart for me energy wise but I wasn't willing to give up the exercise so changed my WOE to weight watchers were I was always hungry, still not great for the energy.

When I started reading about JUDDD I was sure I wouldn't be able to exercise on DD, and in fact the first week or so I didn't. Only the first DD was really bad on energy but I didn't go to the gym for about 4 DD. Then the 5th I decided to just walk on a good incline on the treadmill and see how far I could go. To my surprise I walked an hour and didn't feel lightheaded or energy deficiency the way I did on LC! Today I RAN a 5K on a DD with 200 calories under my belt for the day by noon. I felt fine. No starts or spots in my eyes, no problems at all. I feel good and am so excited that I can exercise even on down days!

Also, I came across a statement in the book that said that it was okay to add up to 100 extra calories on a DD if you burn at least that many...but I haven't needed to yet!

Purplesage, please be careful! Don't worry about adding the workout calories, or set the calculator to at least moderate exercise. We don't want you hurting yourself!

I am very careful. The minute I have any light headed feeling I drop it back and add calories. That is the reason I had to stop Atkins, no energy and light headed. I won't take risks in that way. I have the calculator set to moderate exercise and it tells me 487/2100. I exercise mid day so I have not had all my calories for the day.

I was just impressed that my body can do anything with that few calories on board.

Good to hear your experience. I have exercised all along and only in the very beginning did I notice issues.

Good luck with your exercise and JUDDD!

WOE: Whatever plan keeps me around 150 lbs!
I don't exercise nearly enough, but when I do, I've noticed no difference in UD and DD energy. There have been days I burned more than I took in, so my net calories were less than zero. That's kind of a good feeling!

I feel better doing aerobics and strenuous exercise on DD! I do my Callanetics & Rebounding either day. Love JUDDD for the fact that I feel so well! I have never in my life had the energy that I now experience. Ever.

I also exercise on both UDs and DDs and I'm fine. Only thing I notice is that if I work out in the morning on a DD (before I have a chance to eat) then I'm STARVING by lunch. Not surprising....

WOE: Moderate Carb JUDDD (Lost first 4 lbs on WW)
Start Date: 7/4/2012 -- 42 lbs lost total
The first time I exercised on a DD I had plenty of energy, however, I was then so hungry I almost went on a bender, so I haven't repeated the experiment. When I get more control over this whole thing, however, I'm going to try.

Happy for you, Purple Sage!

I would be taking days off from workouts anyway no matter what my WOE was, because I happen to do a workout that suggests it. So I place workouts on UDs.

My reasons are partly vanity, partly feeling well on UDs. I don't want the water that my muscles will hold after workouts to affect the scale after DDs, when I might expect losses I can claim! But also, when I've eaten more I know a workout will help burn it off and keep me from feeling "full" or "blah", so UD afternoons seem perfect.
