tricks on how to safe cals till dinner

Hi everyone

It would be helpfull for me to have thread where we can post our tricks for saving calories till dinner. For example: you have dinner you need to attend. I'm having a hard time to fast still dinner, or even till lunch on some days, like today. Feels more like starving then fasting.
I drink hot tea but it doesn't really help. I know it will get better with more days on juddd, Most times I just need to get over that 1/2 till 1hours, and the hunger feeling is burried. But any tricks are very welcome!

My tricks:
-hot tea
- xylitol sweetened candy
- distraction

Happy losing to all of you!

My very fav is water with lemon/ACV. I may be addicted to this, but it helps me go all day. If you do not like the tartness, you can add a few drops of stevia.

Broth is a good hot - 17 cals for one cup
Cukes
Pickles
Gum
Hot Green Tea
Miracle Noodles w/broth 20 calories

I forgot about the broth, I usually do that too. Helps like a charm!

Cabbage is my go to food, it's bulky and low cal! You can make a soup or a salad or a stir fry.

I find that planning is the most helpful thing-- if I know when and what I'm going to eat, I'm able to wait for it. I also plan for post-dinner snack (like 40cal for almond milk). If I don't use it, bonus!

During the day on the DD, I try to have some caffeine (whereas normally I'm caffeine free)-- about 2L of watery iced green tea.
I find it's just enough to help me, but I don't stay up all night.

for L, I have a HB egg or if I'm out, a very light/small salad. I find protein helps at that point. I also have it as late as possible-- 2pm or 3pm.

Pickles, bone broth, green or white tea, cabbage, and lettuce (I figure a head of Romaine - 110 cal - into every DD plan), sometimes literally a small bite of baked chicken or one cracker kills my hunger. Oh, and good old water. I find frequently what feels like hunger is actually thirst. And, as Soren says, I plan. I plan about 700 calories each DD, then eat to hunger and usually come out under 500. Knowing what I will do if I am hungry helps me a lot.

Broth- Better than Bouillon- Chicken 15 cal or beef 10 cal
You can add a little gluc powder.

Miracle noodles/rice- the 0 cal. type with 1/2 a laughing cow cheese= 17.5 cal

1 stalk of celery= 10 cal

1 whole cucumber mostly peeled is about 50 cal.

I like iced green tea with lemon and a drop or 2 of ez-sweetz.

Stay busy!!!!

I've never been able to do it, never really even wanted to try. So I'm no help. But these sound like great suggestions.

For me, if there's a dinner I know will happen on a DD, I just look at a higher % calorie level, and choose something that will fall within that. My dd breakfast and lunch always end up totaling about 250 cals. Many restaurants have 500 cal options, so I'd choose one of those, have a 750 dd, and call it good.

Thx for all the suggestions! Staying busy works, and out of the house works best so far. I don't have very hard DD's but if I need to safe the calories because I'm invited then it gets hards. Usually i eat 250cals for lunch and 250 for dinner, and feel perfectly fine.

Tina, that is soooo smart! It really takes away from the "Well, I can't work this day under 500 calories so I'm not even going to try!" Simply brilliant. Thanks for posting this. I really believe it is going to help me a lot.

Laura, you're welcome. I'd love to take credit for the idea, but I got it from another successful Buddd, and it was a total lightbulb moment for me too.

If you did it every dd, you might suffer some consequences from it. But for the every now and then, it's perfectly fine.

If I can't or don't want to skip eating entirely, I find beef jerky to be extremely filling (& time-consuming! ) for the calories. Jack Links makes a 1oz package that is only 60 cals. I keep them in my car/purse at ALL times. $1 at walmart.

I also like sunflower seeds in shell for snacking, esp if I'm around other ppl who are eating. Takes a long time to eat 50-100 calories!
