Anybody need to go below 500 cals on DD in order to lose??

Not only has my losing stalled after two weeks, this week I'm actually up over a pound after sterling rotations of 500/1800 as recommended by the Johnson calculator. As hard as it will be for me to drop below 500, if that's what I have to do to get the scale moving again, I'll suck it up (or spit it out, more appropriately!)

Nope.. LEAve it be please.. ITs a process.. our body will rest when it needs to.. and we must all learn to just continue with the plan and wait it out.. I have done the whole 120 per day.. (thats empty cal in my coffee creamer) I would not do that agin.. I feel like i am cheating now when i need to eat up to 500 on any DD..I have made a mess of my head.. So i ask you to please remember,, its not a race.. this is a slow process and we need to allow our bodys to take breaks , hold water,, resist fat loss as it needs to ,, so that we have a chance to feel healthy and happy when the body finally lets it go.. inches will fall off in places you never thought were fat.. so hold tight.. its a long bumpy ride,, but soo worth it.. once that ball starts bouncing down the hill~

It is really a bit soon to start tweaking. If those are your numbers stick to them. If your DD number is much lower than 500 then after the first 2 weeks it may be time to slowly move towards your real number, if you are not losing.

But I agree with Kimberley, this is not a race.

I've been following juddd for about 3 months now and I still stick to 500 cals. I'm still a long way from goal though so when I have less to lose I will probably cut my calories then. I try to stick to 1800 on an ud. If I go over to much I just have 1500 on my next ud.

It may be that you are at a set point (weight that you have been for a while in the past). This has happened to me twice. My body loves 172 and I have been stuck here or close by for the last week.

For me personally, I had to move my UD number down by 100, but have not had to do so on DD. In fact, I automatically have 2 days higher 35% (weekend) and try to have one very low 200 or less each week. I am striving at doing more very low, but have yet to actually accomplish it.

Just saw Kimberly's post and she is the Queen of JUDDD. She knows all about having very low DD. Also, if you go and read ....

Benefits of Alternate Day Fasting/CRON

and specifically this.... it talks about being able to have the benefits at even as high as 60% of regular BMR calories.

To answer the OP, after the first two weeks which I did at 500 calories, I have ranged between 50 and 350 calories each DD. This past week (after losing 30 pounds) I have started increasing DD calories to 400 and above and will gradually continue working my calories upward getting ready for maintenance. I have experimented with all kind of DD's from almost toal fasting to lots of shirataki noodles to gluc. Lost slowly but surely so I guess all levels work.

So yes, you might have to go lower on DD's to lose. I did.

Hmmmm, TOM is possible but unpredictable these days as am deep in perimenopause and have started getting random periods whenever the hell they feel like showing up. Here in the land of tooooooo many variables, sigh! I have been feeling extra emotional for the last 24 hours, so that would fit, as I usually need to be locked up and tossed fresh meat and/or high quality chocolate thru the bars just before my special time of the month! Thanks for the reminder, buttah!

There are so many great people here with good ideas, and some that have done JUDDD way longer than me, and I respect them greatly for all they have experienced on their journey. Here is my little story...

Everyone is different on the numbers is my observation. I faithfully did 500 for the first two weeks then--BAM--mentally I just could not do it anymore. I figured better to be at 35-40% on DD than off plan. I still lost, just not as fast as I would have liked but I was very happy to have kept my mind!! Try to be patient with yourself while your body/metabolism heals. You will learn so much about yourself on this journey besides learning how to lose weight and maintain. To me that is key because for me SO MANY OTHER issues contributed to my weight gain and apparent inability to lose for years and years. IMHO, JUDDD is not just a weight program, it's a mental health program!!! No matter what, definitely give it time, it WILL work!

Hugs to you!!

I suspect I may end up having to do the same thing to get things going. But Cindy makes a good point, it's early to think about tweaking, and many others have pointed out our bodies take their own sweet time in releasing those precious stored calories (picturing Gollum in each of my fat cells whispering "my precious...my precious..."). I need to be patient...it sure helps to lean on the ever-present support offered here!

thank you, JUDDD Buds all!

I have never eaten below 500c, heck often I do between 500-700c. People have to deal with me and if I go below 500, NO ONE wants to be around me!

Too Soon!

Oh, hey, look, whereas Kimberly is a JUDDD queen, I'm the queen of freaking out when the scale doesn't tell me what I think it should. So I hear you. But it's too soon to change anything.

If you've been judding for two weeks, you probably dropped a number of pounds. I also saw a 'stall' on week three and wasn't happy about it, but try not to panic for a few more weeks.

Oh thank you all you wonderful juddd-buds! I particularly needed to hear a 3rd week stall has happened to others, that's so helpful. I've got some diet PTSD from having stalls on so many different plans that never actually ended after weeks and weeks. Going to lobby the American Psychological Association to add a new diagnosis of "Diet-Related Stress Disorder" (DRSD, tee hee) to the next big book of illnesses!

I think Dawn (Kiera'sMom) said week three was a stop for her too.

I actually gained in the third week, and have since gone on to lose a lot more than I ever thought I would. Weight loss isn't linear, so we can't expect it to show up on the scale that way. Easier said than done, huh.

I lose weight for a week or three, then "stall" for a few weeks. During the stall, the inches vanish. Then the scale catches up. I don't understand it, but since I began JUDDDing my waist is down 10 inches and my hips are down 12. I thought about it long and hard and decided I don't have to understand everything...I just have to buy smaller sized clothing.
