Thanks Bev! Happy birthday to you! ![]() Did I miss the JUDDD party?!?!! I have been overwhelmed on my job and not able to visit here? Anyway, I definitely go over my allotted calories when I have friends over for dinner or go out to eat! It is more important to me to be able to spend the time with family/friends than to worry. JUDDD seems to give us wonderful correction and it seems that it is happening in your case as well! As far as not interrupting my fast period on UD, I agree that it is working, but do not know for certain how to tell if I am putting my body into stress mode?!?! I would think if I were, then I wouldn't lose? ![]() Also, I am taking the pteropure Resveratrol, which is 250 mg of Res and 50 mg of pteropure and 50 mg of Alaskan Wild Blueberry. I know this has helped me tremendously on not being hungry. Also, I notice that the longer I do this, the less hungry I seem to be. It has become very empowering for me!

A girl only turns 60 once!I agree about celebrating with family and friends. It's a good thing, as Martha says. I am a believer that if you put your body in stress mode it wouldn't allow you to lose and I also think you feel strong hunger hormones come out tantalizing you to eat!! I may switch to the Pteropure and try it at some point, but the plain version seems to be working for me. There are days I feel like it is working so strongly and some days less. I don't know what is up with that however. But I also take Resveratrol and have for a long time. I am just so thrilled you have found a combo of things that works for you. We certainly are scientific experiments, aren't we?

So great to read what is working for people. Remember Dr. Johnson mentioning the resveratol connection. Something to look into.
Beverly, I am right behind you for 60 on the 27th. If I had known I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself. |

awwwww.. sorry jem51 for the thread jack. It is disappointing when you hope for some new valuable info and there is thread jacking going on. I feel that way when I anxiously go to a thread and find someone is just "subscribing". I'll move the chit chat to the daily chat thread.

Hello Sunday and paticipating JUDDD'rs! I got through page two and had to come and subscribe! Thank you for all the wonderful information regarding ADF, IF, and SIRT1. You have helped me regain my enthusiasm for JUDDD. I initially lost 40lbs between Dec 2010 and November 2011 doing ADF. As happens in life I got off track, regained a little weight and have been struggling for a few weeks now to restart JUDDD. This thread has given me renewed hope and a better mindset to get on the ball and stay motivated. Thank you so much!!

I have found that sometimes when you hit an abstract and you want the whole thing
you can do a google with the whole tital or most of it and come up with another source for the article. Like I just did. The effects of intermittent or continuous energy restriction on weight loss and metabolic disease risk markers: a randomised trial in young overweight women |

I find it very intriguing that in the last study, both groups experienced modest declines in fasting serum insulin and that improvements in insulin sensitivity which were greater amongst the IER group.
![]() Insulin sensitivity seems to be the reoccurring theme with IF over CR. This is one of my big factors behind why I love JUDDD! ![]() |

Has the number of IF/intermittent calorie restriction studies increased recently? It seems like every time I go looking, I find some new study.

Yes Nancy, I believe the BBC video was a great motivator to scientists as well! It seems that more research is being spent on the benefits of IF and especially where the brain and diabetes is concerned.

This is the Drs. Eades original article on the benefits of IF - I haven't seen it in this thread yet so if I missed it and it's duplicate...sorry.

I guess I never thought that Dr. Andrew Weil would support IF because usually he isn't on board with research by Dr. Mercola/Johnson, but he is finally saying "it is beneficial".
Dr. Andrew Weil: Intermittent Fasting: A Healthy Choice Also, the brain is quite the beneficiary of IF, because not only does it help with Alzheimers/Parkinsons, but it seems that the benefits are even noticed with stroke and brain injuries and fasting is the equivalent of exercising the brain. Intermittent fasting dissociates beneficial effects of dietary restriction on glucose metabolism and neuronal resistance to injury from calorie intake Last edited by sunday; 10-27-2012 at 03:26 PM.. |
