Did the whole 20 minute AM this morning. Well, after a fashion. On the sitting leg lift, by the time I got into position, that leg wouldn't even budge a hair off the floor. The only pulse going on was my heartbeat.

I don't know if any of you ever check out the Callan thread in the workout section of the board but someone posted this YouTube vid there the other day

I'm having knee joint problems right now and can't do the kneeling or standing leg work. When that happens I usually just do 3 sets of the floor leg work.

After watching this YouTube vid I did 2 sets of the regular floor moves and in place of the standing leg work did the flexed foot and rotating knee/ankle moves from this vid. Oh my goodness did I feel it. I did it this morning and I'm still feeling the burn.

Just wanted to share in case others might find these work better for them too.

OMG I hurt just watching that! It does look like a great option for me with my ageing knees and hips. Many thanks Jennifer.

I just got my 10 in 10 DVD and started today! I have been looking for something that I can do in my hotel room when traveling for work (I hate the tiny little workout rooms and aged cardio equipment in a typical business hotel fitness room). Hopefully this is the answer. I wanted to get 20 sessions in before Christmas, but that is only 28 days away! So, if I get 10 hours in before I leave for the holidays, I will be happy.

The 80's video is hilarious. Those leotards are somethin' else.

Yay! Just finished my first hour in months...at least three months since I did this. Wibbly-wobbly legs now, but headed to bed soon. I'm glad you all have been doing this! Wish I hadn't quit, but I'm back now. Could definitely use some toning.

This thread has gone quiet but I hope everyone is making time for their Callan during the holidays (or some other form of stress relieving stretching)

Christmas came early for me:

I'm really enjoying it.

Bumping. I just did hour 1 today of 10 in 10, and I want to remember to read through this thread again. Anyone else starting/doing Callanetics with me?

Yes! Just did an hour of Evolution last night. I can only do Evolution on up days, and even then, it makes me shake and quivery and wibbly-wobbly, but it works!

If it's a down day and I'm doing Callanetics, I do 10-in-10. I feel like it is easier, and there's more stretching in 10-in-10.

Glad you bumped this thread!

Great Luna! I'm so glad to have a buddy in this. I've been reading up and watching YouTube vids on all things Callanetics, and I'm so excited. I hope to make some definite changes to my body.

This being week after NYE calorie blow out, looming TOM, I thought, why not throw a new exercise routine in with it all. Maybe in a week when NYE indulgences, TOM bloat and exercise inflammation/fluid retention/muscle addition have been flushed and assimilated, I might have a really nice whoosh!

Great, LCG!

Make sure to measure, too. My experience is that Callanetics does not do a great thing for me in terms of losses on the scale, but in inches. Especially in the hips and tummy. So measure, measure, measure.

Oh yes, I measured on 12/31/12, so I'll be ready for those inch losses! Thanks Luna!

Oh man, had all this in the 80's -- along with the leg warmers!! Remember them! I know I got rid of everything so I'm off to look. Library, Amazon, Ebay --- Goodwill - who knows, but I sure could use it again.

Thanks for jumping this! Bumping -- not jumping! Duh!

I totally blew off 10/10 over the holidays. Recommitting to doing it TODAY. I love how it reshapes my waist and hips - when I do it....

I'm so glad I'm not alone in doing this! I thought I would barely be able to move today but I'm just sore. Not hit by a Mack truck sore. I can really feel my triceps, and my abs, and my hips! I guess my quads are a little tender too. Yes, I do believe I got a workout yesterday! I'll give myself today as a recovery day and see about doing it again tomorrow.

Looked around the house - to see if any old Callanetics were lurking - nothing Library had nothing - books or tapes. So ordered 2 dvds from Amazon, Beginning Callanetics and Evolution. They only had the 10 in 10 on VHS and so sense in me getting that - no machine!

They say won't be shipped until next week so in the waiting game. It helped me with baby weight/toning back in the 80s so I can't wait till I get them!

Just finished hour 2 of 10 in 10. WOW! That kicks my butt, but I did do it all, and only a few breaks during the stomach exercises. Seems I can do 50 at a time, but not the full 100. No big deal...I'll get there!

Hey guys - do you think someone who's had a hip replacement can do Callanaetics? No pain, but my movement is somewhat restricted. Would I still get some benefit?

Hi -- can't help with your issue but you might want to check on the main exercise board. There is a callanetics thread that has an instructor check in occassionally. Sorry I can't help!

I would definitely recommend you searching out the Callanetics thread and asking there, if you haven't already. Sandra Hanna, the instructor in the Callanetics Evolution DVD, posts there on a regular basis and can probably answer your question best.

Do you have a physical therapist that is familiar with your hip issues? You might show them a couple of the you tube videos, especially of the moves you have concerns about, and ask their opinion.

They are small, delicate movements, so I'd assume that if you can get into the positions without causing problems, that you should be able to do the movements. But I'd definitely get an informed opinion before proceeding.

Hello everyone! Good news to share haha

Can I just say how much I Callanetics! I haven't even finished the whole 10 hours - only 5.5 hours done so far but...I've lost 2 inches off my waist ( 31 to 29) an inch off my hips (44 to 43) an inch off my right thigh (26 to 25) and 0.75 inch off my left thigh (25.75 to 25)

4.75 inches in only 5 sessions!! I even convinced my mom who detests any form of organized exercise to try it out with me last time and she loved it as well!!

Funny thing is I haven't lost any weight at all, if anything I've gained 1-2 lbs.

Lia that's soooo great! I wasn't going to measure until after the whole 10 hours, but after hearing your result, I'm re-thinking that. I too am up a couple of pounds and thought it was mostly TOM, but maybe it really is lean, firm, toned muscle. Wahooooo!

Thanks for this post! You really made me feel great about what's going on with me (along with being happy and excited for you!). I was thinking I'd skip doing it today, but now I'll squeeze it in for sure!

Lia that is wonderful. Yes, when I'm faithful with Callanetics I don't lose very well, but I look tons better, and isn't that what we're here for? I'm so much more than just a number on a scale. Today I'm wearing tight leggings, knee-high boots and a sweater that just comes below my tush. I would never be able to wear this outfit were it not for the tightening effects of Callanetics. JUDDD has helped me lose the weight, but Callanetics tightens up what's left and makes me look pretty darn good, if I do say so myself!
