I have Super, 10 in 10, and Evolution. I think that Super is the oldest, but it is also the basics. 10 in 10 seems to be the shortest and probably best for the busy person!
Happy pulsing everyone! ![]() |

I just finished my first hour of Callanetics 10 Years Young in 10 Hours DVD. Wow you can feel this right away. I love the pulse. I do have neck issues and with need to support my neck with my hand during the stomach exercises.

I recommend starting with 10 in 10. In the original book Callan only recommended doing Super once or twice a week after you've mastered 10 in 10. 10 in 10 is 57 min long Super is 1 hour and 8 min of actual workout time. The video also includes a section of Callan teaching all of the moves. Evolution is the 'modern' version of Callanetics and I've never watched it so I don't know how long it is. Vicki, one of the instructors of the Evolution series is Sandra and she occasionally posts on the Callan thread here on LCF I don't know if the Gold Coast of Australia is large or small (if it might be close to you or not) but she has a studio in Australia called Gold Coast Callanetics. She trained with Callan - the creator of the original series - so she's familiar with both the original and modern moves. I would have loved to have had an instructor close to me when I was starting as I believe form is huge for this workout. (Happy belated Birthday too.

I can't edit my first response but your Mom is right about the correct title of the workout. I'm just so used to shortening it to 10 in 10 here.

When I began Callenetics, back in the 80s, it was before internet and I remember buying the book first. I think the first time that I ordered the tape and it was the old VHS, it may have actually been because I saw it on TV. ![]() You are right that the form is the most important thing because when you do the pelvic tilt properly this will allow you to use your muscles correctly when pulsing. |

Has anybody else had difficulty finding these DVDs? I'm whacking away at the edges of this by following the YouTube clips, but I can't seem to locate a DVD that isn't ferociously expensive. I can't get it on iTunes, either.
I do heaps of yoga, anyway, but the precision of this looks great and I'd like to join in here if I can! ![]() |

woo hoo!! I hit the Mother Lode today. I was looking online at the prices of the DVD's and kind of was surprised at how much they cost. I used to do this program years ago, so thought I better check if I really threw them all away when I moved as I thought I had. I dug out an old box of videos and DVD's and found my Face Aerobics video I had wanted. (Old Richard Simmons ones too)
THEN I came across two videos-- AM/PM Callanetics AND Super Callanetics. The problem is, I use a DVD player now and not a video player. But in the wonderful 'ol garage, there was my old 13' TV/video combo. I dug it out and checked out the videos and they still work!! Plus I found my 10/10 DVD. My bubble was burst when I started trying the AM one. In the old days, I could do all the videos with some ease. My heavens, my body has become pathetic. I mean really pathetic!! ![]() I was trying to do the one where you are kind of standing up on your toes in a plie position and rotating your pelvis up and then going up two inches, and doing it again, and up another two inches. Oh. My. God. I know you have to keep doing these and practice and practice and you get stronger and stronger. In retrospect I wonder why I stopped doing these. I can imagine how great I would look today if I had been doing these consistently for years. I had hundreds of hours invested in doing these and then for some reason, one day I stopped. I hate starting things all over from scratch, but I am going to do it any way. I felt it worked wonders for my figure when I did them.

Amy, this may be a silly question but are you breathing? It is VERY easy to hold your breath while pulsing, and it may be that you simply need to really focus on breathing deeply.
Kissa, I had to support my neck a lot at the beginning. I have 6 hours in, and can now make it through most of the abs. Will still have to support at the end, but it's getting better. I think I started feeling like I was 'doing it right' around hour 4. I do Evolution, and she recommends putting a firm pillow mid back to help maintain the curl until your abs get stronger. This has been really helpful to me in keeping in peak position. Need to get a workout in this afternoon.

The first time I got into 10/10, I thought I was strong because I did a lot of strength training and cardio. Was I ever humbled... And then I stopped after getting pretty good, so now I'm back to square one, but at least I know I'll get better with each hour. I'm really enjoying reading everyone's experiences here.

I started using a couple of the other pulse options today. Not for the whole set, but I did the normal pulses first for a bit, then added in the circular and rotational pulses just for fun. And OH YEAH, it makes a difference. WOW. I might be a little sore tomorrow.
Now I have to not exercise for a few days because I need to have a retest on my SED rate next week, and inflammation from recent exercise can affect it. |

Kissa (or anyone else struggling with the ab work), attached here's a picture from Evolution showing a lady using a prop. I know I mentioned this before but I thought a visual of placement might be helpful. |

Thank you Kissa & Jennifer!
I feel like this is my best attempt at helping me regain the vitality that I once had. When I was 30 this was the only exercise that I did regularly. I rebounded, but not faithfully, so jumping was not my thing then. I had a toned figure and was asked many times if I was a runner or if I did weights. So, now I have one thousand regrets for not keeping this up. ![]() Kristin, W Have you been to Sandra Hanna's FB page? She has a few exercises. |

Woohoo! Yay Kristin!
I think the pelvic tilt is going to help you not die so much! The pulsing is tough, if you can't get the tilt right. ![]() |

I have the three 20 minute DVD (legs, behind, stomach). Until this month, I was doing all 3 (to equal an hour) about 3 times a week. Need to start back because I could really tell a difference in my posture, strength, and overall confidence. I feel like I've conquered something when I finish a workout!
