UD Calorie recommendation -

Some places I am seeing that it is an upper LIMIT, other places say you have to eat at LEAST your upper level. I exercise quite a lot, and my up day number is 2441. That seems really high, like I haven't eaten that many calories a day in more than 20 years! I am sure I can manage it.... But is it that you are supposed to get as close to that as possible or not go over it?

Gotta run, sorry for short reply; we've discussed it here:

What Dr Johnson says about UD calories

Christa, from your stats it looks like you weight 166 now? 2441 does seem a bit high. I assume you used the maximum exercise level on Dr J's website? In general, the pattern that seems to work for most people is to select an exercise level one down from what they think they are.

Chuckle, having said that, since you are an intense exerciser - try to stay around 2400 cals on UDs for a few rotations and see what happens. Since you exercise hard, you are going to need those UD calories. Most of us find we do need to eat more than we are used to on UDs...which is very easy for some and very difficult for others .

I did not "lose" weight. I evicted it. It is gone and it ain't coming back!

JUDDD cares about calories. JUDDD does not care what you eat. Your body probably does.

Actually - I have been so "out of control" for a while that my weight is likely around 175...but I am on day -1 of my cycle so I don't want to weight right now. It is all mental! I put in 180 and I hope when I weigh in it will be lower than that!

Christa I like your style, you made me laugh!

We should have this talk when TOM has gone and we have an actual weight, lol.

As TOM is there, enjoy you UDs if you don't get to 2441, fine. Just come back with the real numbers in a day or so.

Okay. Unfortunately I am not even at 300 calories yet....going to go make a cheesy omlette for breakfast and go to the gym. A good hard run always helps my cramps.

Sometimes the calculator can be tricky...are you sure you entered inches & pounds, not cm & kg?

I ask because my UD cals are about that, and I weigh a good deal more than you.

(Of course, your height & age & activity level can make a huge difference.)

Yeah, I double checked it. According to fit day that is also my resting metabolic rate. Looking at that I wonder if I have been way undercutting myself on calories every day and that is why I have been so unsuccessful in losing for so long?

I exercise a minimum of 60 minutes 3 days a week...running 3-5 miles and weights. I put in moderate exercise though because I didn't want to overestimate myself.
