The Jarrow brand is tiny too, but good to know the life extention is a good choice as well.

Sunday, how grand is that!! Are you noticing greater weight loss now because of this? It has definitely helped me, but not to the point of no hunger at all. What a wonderful thing for you!

Ive been taking pterostilbene 50mg 1 a day for about 3 weeks and I think ít has helped with hunger. That or the sirt has kicked in!!
I will continue to take it as the health benefits, lower cholesterol and bp are important to me. They are 2 of the reasons I started judding as well, I am having my bp checked on Thurs so that will be interesting, I will have been 7 weeks judding at that point.
Take care all!! x

I took my first dose yesterday and no side effects. This makes me happy. Gonna take another one today to speed up the increase in my system. I started getting hunger later (after midnight) while I was up studying.

I haven't taken my pill in two days. My pressure was up the second day so I skipped the dose. Then the next was UD. I will take it again tomorrow.

I looked for this at the vitamin shop (pe) nearby and saw that both the Jarrow 50 and the PteraBlue (sp) 100 were down to the last bottles and the Blue was on sale. Even with the sale and the much more descriptive packaging I decided against the Blue and went with the Jarrow 50. ( I really listen when someone tells me about headaches, and I didn't want to start with 100. )

Anyway, thank you to everyone here giving their experiences. I think it is worth it to me to take the plunge into the additional supplement. I'm actually on maintenance (which still requires vigilance) so I'll mostly be monitoring how I feel and how it affects appetite, eventually whether blood markers look good, etc.

Here's my question - has anyone decided what time of day they think is best to take it, whether you take it with food, anything like that? The info on the Blue label stating the half-life of Pter vs Resv stated in minutes made me think that the time of day (or time before some meal, or before some difficult daily craving time) might be important?

@iamMeekness, I hope you have a good experience.

Great news on the meds front, Carly.

Also very happy for you Gulf Coast Girl on your JUDDD benefit re asthma. Just think what good things may be happening for us inside and we only see a few.

On DD's I take one ptero capsule with breakfast and one after lunch. On UD's I take one with breakfast but rarely take one after lunch since I tend to forget that one. So basically 2 on DD and 1 on UD.
I only have headaches if I take it the same time as I take my Krill Oil. So Krill Oil is at bedtime now.

I am following the same schedule. One ptero everyday in the morning and one between 3 and 4 in the afternoon on DD only. I am also still taking one resv in the morning but it (the resveritol) only gives me a very mild appetite reduction. The ptero gives me a noticeable drop in appetite if I take it daily. I am finding on days that I forget that I am much more hungry in the evening of the day I have forgotten. It could all be a placebo effect but it is pretty noticeable when I am very hungry that it has always been on a day that I have forgotten to take the ptero. I don't get headaches unless I overindulge in too much wine so no issues with side effects so far for me.

I take 1 50mg ptero and 1-2 Resveratrol at 5:30am on the weekdays and upon waking on the weekend. I take the resveratrol diet from netrition and jarrow ptero from netrition as well. I think the resvertrol diet are very low potency.

I received this response from Jarrow regarding blood pressure and ptero:

Quote:
Dear Meekness:

Thank you for your e-mail to Jarrow Formulas.

Research has demonstrated the capacity of pterostilbene to lower blood pressure. However, the amount shown to reduce blood pressure in one particular study was 250 mg per day, considerably lower than our 50 mg serving.

Our theoretical concern is that your blood pressure is lowered too much.

The bottom line is that we do not know if our product is contraindicated with your blood pressure medication. You might consider monitoring your blood pressure more closely. Our recommendation would be to let your primary care practitioner know that you are taking pterostilbene.

I've only taken one dose since I received the ptero. I'm going to take one now and continue to take them every other day. I'll report back soon. I really hope it helps with my appetite and the other benefits.

Have a good day

Thanks Bev and Pat! UD today, so we shall see how it goes. Meek--I am taking it 2x daily--once at 7am, and again around 2pm. 50mg Jarrow brand. No problems with after dinner hunger yesterday (MD) and I have not been stinting on carbs, even on my DDs (making my dd oatmeal cookies). I was so surprised yesterday at the feeling I got. These supplements tend not to work for me, but this one sure did. It wasn't just a lack of cravings--the idea of food made me kind of sick. That NEVER happens. Sure makes you realize how biologically driven all this stuff about hunger and appetite is. Sure not a moral failure!!

I understand. I get a feeling of fullness quick! I couldn't eat all of my lunch today. I have an orange sitting on my desk, and I have NO DESIRE to eat it! I'm going to take another dose at 330PM .

Have a great weekend.

I worry about insomnia if I take a second dose later in the day. Do others feel that the ptero increases energy? Maybe it doesn't and I'm just more energetic these days.

That was the first thing I noticed- ENERGY- even more than appitite suppression, but I wonder if that was just JUDDD healing me and the ptero didn't have much to do with it.

I don't notice energy and I take the second one before 2pm so I guess it would be worn off my evening anyway.

But then I am more interested in appetite suppression than energy. I seem to already have plenty of energy to get what needs to be done - done. I am happy with the pterostilbene which means I need to order some more.
