I have not previously had any issues with HTN. I think the headache I had the other night was one of my regular old cervo-genic headaches. I just hadn't had one in over a month so it was an unwelcomed surprise. The fact that my regular rx medication helped also leads me to believe it was not high blood pressure or caused by the pterostibene.

It is a DD and once again, I am not hungry.
I did wake up with hunger, got busy and drank 2 glasses of water with 1 ptero. Now it is 4 hours since and I am not hungry in the least. Will definitely be ordering one more months supply. ![]() |

@PJ I'm confused... seems like if I'm having trouble sleeping and that my cortisol might be too high at night, and the pterostilbene reduces cortisol, shouldn't I take it at night, not morning? but some have said it revs them up, in which case I should take it in the morning? But I'm supposed to be taking cortisol in the morning.... UGH.

Where did you read that psb reduces cortisol?
I don't remember seeing that anywhere. How to you "take" cortisol? Is it a prescription? |

Yes, Marie, pterostilbene, is an IF mimicer. It promotes healthy heart, brain, eyes, anti-inflammatory, and blood lipids. I don't recall anything about addrenal balance???
On the Women to Women forum they propose supps for Addrenal Balance. Last edited by Kathy; 03-07-2013 at 11:48 AM.. Reason: Edited per the request of Women To Women site due to copyright infringement. |

I have not been able to find Pter yet (there are disadvantages to living in the boonies). Will order it.
Question, how many of you are combining Resveratrol with Pter? |

Nancy,
I am going to order the Ptero w/ Resv from the "Whole Foods" website for my next round of pterostilbene. I actually found the Jarrow brand at my local Natural Grocer. It seems to work very well on its own and it is only 50 mg. Be very careful to only take one and if you had headaches with the Resv, you may not want to combine the two. I accidentally took 2 one day and had a slight tension headache, but Addilel and Carly said they both had a pretty good headache with their dose. ![]() |

I take a supplement that is discussed on one of the thyroid forums, isocort. It's from herbs and it raises natural coritsol levels for the morning, since you're supposed to produce more in the morning than in the evening. My naturopath told me to take it but I am stopping it for the time being. I didn't take it when on vacation and I slept just fine. If I want to get my cortisol levels checked I need to be off everything for awhile. *IF* I can successfully stay off everything for a week I'll go do that with a blood test and get one of those spit tubes

I just realized--in another thread, I mentioned that I've ordered phosphatidylserine, which *is* supposed to work as a cortisol blocker. Another long word that starts with p...maybe you misread or misrembered it as pterostilbene?

Ok, I just skimmed through to catch up and think I'm going to try this and see what it does for me. I had been looking for Borage oil supplements and found some at amazon and then also found the Jarrow brand Pter. and it had good reviews so I'm getting that, too. Under the product information it says it's a sirtuin activator which I know Sunday has talked about. I'll let you know how I feel when I start taking it. Can't wait!

Dang. Now I'm scratching my head.
I've been looking at so many supplements today, maybe I was reading reviews of something else. One of my sisters was telling me about the benefits of drinking alkaline water and eating high alkaline foods and supplements. So, I downloaded a book this morning on my Kindle and got really excited reading it so I was looking for supplements mentioned in the book. The book I found is called "The PH Miracle for Weight Loss" by Robert Young. You know what an info junkie I am! I read the whole book in one sitting. There are things I don't agree with in there, but I had never really heard of the Alkaline verses Acid based food research and it was quite motivating. Going down rabbit trail here! Sorry I thought there were reviews on amazon, but going back to look I see there are not. We will have to be the reviewers after we take it for a while!

I have found that taken alone in the morning the pterostilbene does NOT give me a headache BUT if I take it in the morning with Krill Oil I have a mjaor headache. Krill Oil alone does not bother me. So a simple solution is to eliminate Krill Oil for the time being. I don't have high blood pressure but have a history of migraines and I am pretty careful to avoid things that are migraine triggers for me.
I feel that the pterostilbene is helping with giving me the "no hunger" feeling. I had a zero calorie DD on Monday since I was traveling and took one Ptero capsule in the morning and one in the late afternoon since we would not be arriving at our home airport until after midnight. I drank several bottles of water and had a couple of diet cokes during the day but not a bite of food and did not even think about food. I had some low calorie granola type bars in my purse and gave a couple to DH during the airport wait but had no desire to eat one myself. I did crave salt so made DH find a concession stand with the little salt packets to put in my water. So I will keep taking the ptero on DD's for sure. I may experiment with taking one at noon on UD's since afternoons are when I start dreaming about ice cream and such.

I am still loving my results!
I accidentally took one yesterday and it was my Up Day, I never was hungry and I had to make myself eat! It was sort of strange to have that happen when I needed to eat well. Will not be doing that again. ![]() |

It is an UD and I too took my pterostilbene. I meant to take it at lunch instead to ward off the afternoon ice cream urges. Had already swallowed when it dawned on me that it was an UD. Did eat my lunch but for now I am not wanting anything extra and there is CAKE in the breakroom. if it was carrot cake, I would be in trouble but it is red velvet and I don't care to eat red food coloring in quantity today.
Since I tend to lean toward UUAA UD's I need to take it both days for now. |

starting ptero today. forgot them this morning, ran home for the bottle at lunch, took one with food. Are we supposed to take with food? Going to start with twice a day, the study results I read were from three 50mg doses a day
Also starting my IP-6 again for pcos/seratonin issues. Does that have its own thread? |

Lou, I think we should start a thread or if you would like we can discuss it here. I bought the IP-6 because of a doctor's suggestion, but did not know all of the reasons except for immunity.

I haven't had much benefit from the pterostilbene that I can tell. I also didn't get much benefit from the chlorophyll I was drinking.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong. ![]() |
