In general, the supplements you find at health food markets are higher quality than those found at a chain drugstore or chain megastores. It's the filler ingredients and the QUALITY of the herb/vitamin that can make a difference. Some supplements are tested to prove they contain what they claim to contain, but is their quality good? I think that if a person wants to improve their health, besides eating the "right" foods/supplements, they should know their origins, and what else is in/on them before ingesting.
I got my pterostilbene from the Dr. Vitamin (???) place - super-cheap, but I've never had a totally comfortable feeling about the contents of these - although it sounds like they're trying to do their own formulation, etc. I almost always order from Netrition, and I choose NOW over other brands when there's a choice (well-tested, usually better price) - but others seem to be having good/comparable results with the 150mg capsules ...

If I actually follow my TTAPP program for about six weeks, people that commenting on my new shape. I am just so lazy that I will start it and then get distracted and the fall by the wayside. BUT it does work.

I would say that Dr. Vitamin must be a good quality if so many are having such good results. If you know anyone that belongs to Consumer Labs they actually give an unbiased review of all supplements. I do like to read the reviews, just to see if anyone has a bad reaction.

Interestingly, I just looked at the fillers on my BioNutrition to compare with Jarrow. They use the exact same ingredients. Jarrow is 50 mg of Ptero & Bio is 100 mg of Ptero with fillers vegetable stearate, vegetable cellulose and silica. No wheat, gluten, yeast, corn, sugar, or soy. So, why do I feel so much difference when I take the equivalent of Jarrow?

I don't think I can feel any noticeable difference between the Dr. Vitamin and the Jarrow. If I had to really pinpoint I might get a little jittery on 150mg of Jarrow and never on Dr. Vitamin, but I'm not totally sure of this. I think the Dr. Vitamin has been working just fine and clearly the economical difference is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bought mine at the VS and they only had Nature's Source. Tried today for the first time. OMG I think I am very excited! I ate last at about 7pm last evening - rounding out a very complete UD - my first - even consuming a white bread pita. (I have been doing 5:2 up until now with a 1200 cal max) A day like this would usually send me into the major hungries the following day, but today...not so.
It is 3:30 and I have not eaten today and I.AM.NOT.HUNGRY.
Whatever this is, I hope it doesn't stop, because this is a lifesaver.

Thanks Ladies!

ps. I think it beats eating dirt. The other thread I read today.

Recently I have been taking the 150mg from the Dr. vitamin shop at 5:30am and around 10am or 11am I take one 50 mg jarrow. Sometimes I just need a little energy and it helps!

Still taking my ptero - 150 mg Dr. Vitamin on DD and 50 mg Jarrow on UDs. I've had a few hungry DDs though and am considering taking a 50 mg later in the day - perhaps at noon time. I can tell the difference in appetite control when I forget the ptero.

I had a few tired days leading up to TOM and took a 50mg Jarrow around 10am-11am after taking my 150mg at 5:30am. It seemed to help a bit.

I forgot to take my 150 mg ptero today, and I have been tired all day, and my legs are hurting. Could it be caused by forgetting to take it? If so, I'll not forget again!!!!

KISSA, Thanks for asking about my trike. I love it! Have not gotten to ride it for the past two days, due to afternoon showers. If it was just rain, wouldn't bother me to ride it, but we've also had some impressive lightening shows with the rain, so that has kept me indoors! We had thunder and lightening most of the night, and I slept like a baby. Love when it storms while I'm sleeping, as long as the wind doesn't get too high!

I do 3 in the morning, others prefer 2 then one later. We all react a little differently.

So glad the trike has been a success Carole.

Try 2 then 1 and if no ill-effects you can do 3 in the am and even add another later.

Okay. So I ate "dirt" for awhile and noticed nothing. Not even a little. I just posted on another thread that supplements don't seem to do for me what they do for most others.

JUDDD is simply not working for me (6 weeks, 4 of which have been EOD, and 4 lbs. lost). If I see this stuff at Walmart tonight, I might get some. Not so much for the appetite suppression, but the skin thing. Nobody can believe I'm my age, but my arms and hands are beginning to look .. old to me.

But, if something kicks in and gets JUDDD to working, I'll be a happy camper.

Could you please tell me what dirt is and/or where I can find out about it? I did a search and couldn't find anything. Thanks so much!

Thanks for answering fufu, Carly!

I didn't any of the Ptero stuff at Walmart and didn't get a chance to go to the vitamin place. I think our Walmarts are the last stores to get anything on the planet.

I decided that the Krill oil was more important than ptero so I stopped taking ptero BUT I started drinking BP coffee for breakfast and I am very surprised but my appetite suppression is now much greater than it has ever been. I tried BP coffee with CO and I hated it and I saw no benefits. Perhaps it is the MCT oil. I am going to keep up this routine for awhile and then maybe try adding ptero at noon. I am prone to migraines but these headaches are not what I want so I am being cautious about combining supplements these days. So far MCT only caused stomach upset for over a week and now that has subsided.

Appetite suppression for sure

I've been taking 150 mg Ptero first thing each morning for 6 weeks now, and I have suddenly realized how much appetite suppression it is giving me.

My DDs have been super easy for a few weeks now. Hunger just not an issue at all. The kicker was yesterday. I had a Free Day on Friday, which included pizza, sweet champagne, and a huge serving of peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Saturday breakfast was one of those humongous blueberry muffins you get from the grocery bakery. Not so much muffin as cake. I was hoping to skip lunch altogether but figured I'd be ravenous because of all the carbs/sugar over the past 24 hours. But I never got hungry. Not all afternoon and didn't eat dinner until about 7 pm. Amazing. It has to be the ptero!

I take Krill oil too and happily for me no headaches.

I am over the moon today because a friend, visiting the States for a month, has ordered the Dr Vitamin special offer for me. I should have 12 of the large bottles to see me through for a while! Such a huge saving for me.

I just wanted to check in with a few more results noticed on my part. I have had to complete a medical exam for a new job, and I recently went to the doctor for my annual appointment. My blood pressure was much lower than it has been lately (though it has never been truly high). The doctor appointment last week showed it as 106/80. It was running about 124/76 or so. I'll take that as an improvement!

Also, for the medical exam for work, they took blood samples to run tests. My cholesterol was pretty good. It also has never been high, though. Results showed 181 total, HDL 59, LDL 103, trigs 94. I am happy with these results, though I suppose the total amount could be lowered a bit.

My fasting glucose read 97. That concerned me a little bit, because I know it should be lower. I don't have diabetes, but I'd like that number to come down some. I'll be reassessing my diet a little to bring that into line a bit better.

Just checking in with my Ptero results, last week whilst not fasting and eating everything I was taking just 50mg per day, no side effects, no effects at all that I can think of, this week back to fasting I took 100mg of pter in the am and 1 capsule of Resveratrol with another 50mg pter later in the day, I did not get any appetite suppression at all, I was tired and hungry all day. This morning I took 50mg of pter and 1 capsule of resveratrol, after a bullet proof coffee it after 3pm and I haven't been able to eat all day, but I am completely knackered again.

Most likely this is due to the fact that I'm just back from vacation and need a serious sleep catch up, we'll see how the rest of the week goes
