I am really thinking the afternoon dose of P helps! It's 5pm and I had small amounts of salad and chicken at noon, 1:00 and 2:00.. no tummy rumbles! Yay!!!

Judy- I found the same thing. I could tell when I had missed the afternoon one by how hungry I would be in the evenings.

OK, after 3 days of ptero, I am loving it! I see no side effects, which for me is HUGE. I have chronic migraines and the majority of supplements give me a migraine. This does not! Yay! Still cutting back on my Adderall. This morning, I only took 1/2 a pill! Normally I take a whole pill first thing, which is pretty early, 4:15 a.m. or so, then another 1/2 at 8 a.m. or so and the other 1/2 around 1 p.m. My mind has felt so "clear"! Plus I am continuing to lose little increments of weight every day, even after an UD!!
I even got my hubby to try it because of all of the health benefits. The article I read Wednesday said it helped control heart disease, lower cholesterol, stabilize blood sugar......Woot, woot! Those are all areas to help him. (Thanks to his family!) He is not overweight at all, in fact, he is quite thin. That article even said that ptero helps your body beat cancer cells, even telling the cancer cells to "eat themselves." Wow! |

At first, it didn't seem like the ptero was dong anything. However, after some missed days here and there, this week I started taking two on DDs (one at morning and midday) and one on UD mornings, and that seems to be helping with hunger on DDs and helping more easily keep within UD calories too, which can sometimes be an issue. It's just in the past week that I've noticed this, so I'll report back whether it continues or not. My last two DDs have been easy peasy, and today it's 12:30 on a DD, and I haven't had anything but coffee and tea and have had zero hunger.

Thought it would be more fun to resurrect this thread than to start a new one.
So, after several months of taking ptero and res daily, I can report no additional energy (but I am a kinda high-energy gal to start with) and no appetite suppression (but, I have so much of that I have to remember to eat enough on UDs....except during the holidays ).BUT what I have, and ptero/res are the only 'new' thing I have tried recently so I suspect they are involved...is fading scars and reduced wrinkles. Several dark brown burn scars that have hung around for thirty something years are bleaching into invisibility. Every time I look at them, and at my face, I hope-hope-hope similar good things are happening inside. I am hooked! Now, I am going to order some DE and resurrect that thread!

I have fogotten to take either or both more often than not and at this point I can't tell the difference when I do take and when I don't. I have energy all of the time so can't tell about that any longer. When I finish up the bottles I have now, I won't be buying more. And at the rate I am going by forgetting that may be a long time.

I haven't forgetton- ever! Maybe it's improving my attention span, which in the past has been poor. I have rarely taken a 2nd pterostilbene, but the 4 or 5 times I did, I felt a boost in energy. I've always had great appetite suppression and at this point I may just have great energy without it, but if it ain't broke...

I'm not sure if this would help me or not ,,it is hard to imagine doing better, as far as the losing goes...but I'm going to think about it..It sounds like this supplement is something that could lower bs, so to me, I would take it with a larger meal..I don't want to run my bs too low..we are all different and have different responses ..so I looked at the vitamin company where I get most of my supplements and a bottle of 50mg was about 6.50 plus shipping...worth a try for me, I think..I'l let you know if I have any success with it....I'm still getting over the flu, but have lost a total of 16 lbs since the end of Nov...thank God for every pound gone.

Thanks, Cindy...part of the reason I may have lost a little more is that I've had that flu....nothing sounds good so I've had to push myself to get in calories on the updays...I come here everyday and read in order to stay motivated..and you and some of the others keep me smiling, and encouraged..today I read your recipe for spaghetti and decided maybe Ill try having some..so I used the gluten free pasta and a few spoonfuls of my favorite vodka sauce..and was able to eat it....I think there is something really important to the Sirt thing..it seemed like the scale was never gonna move for me the first time..but finally, it did..I think that will happen for you also..you are a big encouragement ..I love your sense of humor, and I'm pulling for you to have some major success, soon.

I may have to take back my statement about not seeing energy when I take ptero/res. Yesterday I really needed a nap...until I took a second dose of each. Nap time changed to clean the carpet time. Interesting.

I ran out about a month ago and never got around to picking some up at the "Natural Grocer". Recently, I noticed that my hunger was back with a vengeance. Nothing else changed, so I am getting right back on the ptero/resveratrol. |

Dr J recomends Reversatrol ..do you take them both together or does one take the place of the other. Feedback would be greatly appreciated! Sometimes i think my eating on dd is because I am not supposed to eat..

Ptero showed up - I think - in 2012. I expect Dr J to add it to the website sometime soon.
What I have read says Ptero and Res complement and support each other. I take 50 mg Ptero and 250 mg Res together once or twice a day (depending on whether I remember the second dose). |

I take both, but if I had to pick 1 it would be the pterostilbene.
The resveratrol I take is inexpensive and I'm not sure how potent it is. I take the Jarrow 50 mg pterostilbene. I take 1 at 5:30am during the week and upon waking on weekends. I've taken a 2nd very rarely, but felt a positive difference when I did. |

I think it does. I notice an increase in energy, but think it helps with appetite as well. Many find it to suppress the appetite a great deal. When I started taking it I had been juddding a while and already had good appetite suppression, but was still lacking in the energy dept.

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement...I have had some bad times getting over this flu..I also think that the potato days helped kill my appetite..around Christmas I had been slacking off a lot so after about a week of that I noticed that I didn't feel as good as I had been and believed that I had to find a way to get thru a potato day..thank God I was able to do one and that got me back on track, I think...I was at the end of my rope and couldn't do the Atkins anymore....I would get so sick during induction..so it was off and on with the LC ...I don't really worry a lot about carbs on my ud's...I try not to go overboard on them, but this woe has given me options that I never dreamed I would have, again...so..we are all in this together, and we are all different...I think if we keep trying, we learn new things to help us...this board is the best help I have ever found ..so much good information, and so much good support. it's ok to feel how you feel, and ok to talk about it..
Ooops..I forgot yesterday was Elvis' birthday.. ![]() |

I find the same benefits as you do Carly. I ran out of the Pterostilbene before Christmas and had to wait a few weeks to get more in the mail and I really noticed the difference. I don't notice the effects of the Resveritol as much but feel that combining the two works the best for me. |

Another lesson I am beginning to suspect is, if the WOE does not put health under stress, if the body perceives it's needs are being met, then the body is much more willing to let go of extra fat. Oddly enough most of us find alternating low cal/no cal DDs does not seem to be perceived as stress (after those first hungry DDs pass and we figure out how to handle them in the future). Mainstream diets talk about this as if we - the mind - have to constantly stress the body if we want to lose. Reality (and I include LC, potatoes, and a whole lot of WOEs in reality) is as long as we let the body set the pace, weight loss happens. Health happens. Cindy, and anyone else - being jealous of someone whose internal pace is faster than yours is as natural and normal as breathing. You feel free to express those feelings as often as you need to. I will always be here to hug you and encourage you. But, know someone out there is really jealous of YOU. Last edited by gotsomeold; 01-08-2013 at 06:48 AM.. |

I started taking 250mg of Resveratrol about a week ago. Haven't noticed any benefits yet. Received my Ptero late yesterday and will begin taking them together today, which happens to be a DD. Will post any changes or benefits that I notice.

I just got my ptero in the mail today...I order from a vitamin company that has very good prices on their brand...but since most of you here seem to be taking the Jarrow, I went ahead and tried it...it was almost twice as expensive as their own brand, but I figure if it doesn't help, then Ill know I tried the better one first..as I read all the success that people here are having, I get excited to think , hey,,maybe, after all the years of looking, I have found something that my body will respond to...I need to have patience and keep moving along as I have been..well, I'm sure the loss may slow down and that's ok..I am not being deprived of anything that I really like to eat, so I could not be happier.
