How is your appetite while taking the supplement? I am happy with ptero as well. I'm going to order more myself as I would be sad if I ran out, lol.

Have a good day.

My DD's were not the problem my UUAAW days were. After a couple months of pterostilbene (yes, it took that long) I have appetitie suppression on UD's and can keep my Ud's where they are supposed to be and not go hog wild. SO for me it is worth it.

So..., ladies. I have been having an abysmal few days with JUDDD, or more to the point, have blown all days so more like without JUDDD. Have been reading here and it seems that everyone but Dawn has had some beneficial effects with this Pterostilbene. I need a crutch. Is this it?

cici--it didn't help me, either. I find l-glutamine & alkaline water to be very helpful for appetite suppression.

Secret DD weapon: L-Glutamine?

"Alkaline water" & I've been getting NORMAL readings!!!

Sigh...I need to get back to using these things myself! I got caught up with my new plan...it's a bit complicated and I just got out of the habit of putting stuff in my water.

Thanks, PJ. I have some capsules meant to be opened and disolved under the tongue but only 500mg. Also have the Diet Cure book which was very helpful at one point in my life. I am really a mess right now and trying to find my equilibrium again before restarting rotations. Not sure what knocked me off my feet.

Cici

I think on another thread you described some pretty intense physical changes. Putting it all together, is something physical going on?

Are you certain you blood glucose is stable? We have had a few diabetics, very motivated and delightful, but they had to leave because their systems could not handle the rotations.

Alternately, are you hypersensitive to season changes/weather changes?

Could you have a virus?

I can think of a dozen more, but the point is - is your health under some kind of stress????

End threadjack

Nancy, I do think something is going on. Probably stress related or possibly amino imbalance or allergy related. Definately feel irrationally pulled to food. Once I can quiet the system down, will be better able to evaluate.

I started PB up and within a few days was having sleep disturbances again. *sigh* Last night couldn't sleep until 6:30 am.

Going to be diligently doing the alkaline stuff instead, I think. Lemon water and then baking soda water - separate and apart from vitamins in the am.

I don't know about how much appetite suppression I get since I'm never, I mean my whole life, really hungry till later in the evening and then I'm sure it wore off because on week days I take it at 5:30am. I always thought the best part of the pterostilbene was the energy boost, since I use to feel tired a lot. This is because I'm a terrible sleeper, but that was the case before pterostilbene (also all of my life) and has not in away effected my sleep or lack there of. I'm strange though so IDK!

I like it, but I only feel benefits and no negatives. If it worsened my poor sleep I would surely stop taking it.

I've just started on this. It sounds amazing. My first dose yesterday had me feeling a bit strange. Not bad - just odd. I went all day and into the evening mentally sharp and not hungry. A managed 530 cals until I sipped some wine but that was for stress management(!) I slept well.

I shall be interested to see how this develops. I've not been JUDDing for a while now and trying to get back to it. My JUDDD magic has probably worn off by now and I find I'm hungry before lunch. So I'll see today if a tablet mid morning helps me go longer. Today is an UD but I still try to fast until 1.30.

((Stargazer)) so glad to see you around! I hope this continues to be a good idea for you. Getting the "To-Dos" handled is stress-relieving, too.

Carly, I am still convinced there is some ideal time for me to take it. Still experimenting. I would say my "hungries" start earlier than yours - by 4:00 o'clock pm I already know whether it will be a tough day to stay with my calories or not. Maybe even by 3:00.

C'Marie and ouizoid, well, you tried and you learned something. That's what it takes, just keep learning about what you personally need.

cici, answers will come - and there are some possibilities that are very temporary. Keep up the best sleep routines you can and excellent water consumption, remind yourself that you are not in a race with anything. ((hugs))

Sleep was a bit strange last night and I had some fabulous dreams. Didn't really want my daily chocolate squares or anything sweet yesterday. I guess that's the blood sugar normalising effect.

DD today so I'm excited to see how easy it is.

I have taken one on most DDs for the past couple of weeks and I have been finding them very easy of late. So maybe it is the pterostilbene, I certainly have lots of energy.

I just received my next bottle from netrition. I really like taking it and I'm not one for supplements. I don't even take a multi- vitamin or calcium

I try to rember the calcium at least 2x per week. I think my bones will be pleased in the future

Day four and I'm not feeling the big appetite suppression today but I have been working out again (I've had the flu so stopped for a week) so that might be fighting it.

I do think it might be lifting my energy and mental sharpness though. These things can be subtle so it's hard to be sure. It certainly reads well as a supplement to take for all round benefits so I'm happy to take it with or without the JUDDD magic.

I took a second pterostilbene at 2pm today.
For no perticular reason, but Wow! Talk about no hunger what- so- ever and quite a bit of energy.

I will consider doing this on a semi- regular basis. Not UDs though! I may never eat if I did.

Might "waste" some money on this supplement. I have a TUB of L-glutamine that I finally put in the pantry behind a closed door instead of on my kitchen counter because I would not use it, lol. I tend to ignore vitamins and supplements for some reason...almost like I am rebelling haha!

C'Marie and ouizoid~
I have been reading a bit more info on IF and Women, particularly in, Mark's Daily Apple and Paleo for Women, and the consensus with Mark Sisson as well as the other writer, Stefani Ruper, (PaleoforWomen) is that if you are having difficulty with insomnia or lack of sleep, IF is the culprit. Some women really struggle with this. I know we have written many threads about this previously, but I thought I would add that as for me personally, I have never really been an insomniac, but I have extreme alertness during day that I have never had prior to fasting.

From Mark's blog...
Any degree of nutritional stress (fasting or mere caloric restriction) causes increased wakefulness (during the day, when they normally sleep), better cognition (for finding food), hyper alertness, and more energy. In short, female rats become better at finding and acquiring food when they fast, as if their bodies aren’t as well-equipped to deal with the stress of going without food. They also become less fertile.

Also, both Mark & Stefani seem to believe that women who are peri or post meno, may find that IF is not optimal as a weight loss tool. Mark's quote..."As it stands right now, I’d be inclined to agree that pre-menopausal (and perhaps peri-menopausal) women are more likely to have poor – or at least different – experiences with intermittent fasting, at least as a weight loss tool. That said, it appears to be a potentially gender-neutral therapeutic tool for chemotherapy, cancer, and age-related neurodegeneration patients."

Lastly, since pterostilbene mimics the fasting state, I believe this also makes sense why some women can't take it due to "hyper alertness".

I have been thorugh two bottles of pterstilbene and I think the energy phase has hit. I was bouncing all over the place yesterday at a craft show. My neighbor told me I might want to cut back on the caffeine. I am down to the last few capsules so I am going to order some more.
And I am way past menapause and IF has not affected my sleep. When I did very LC I had sleep problems but not a problem at all on JUDDD. Just my experience.

hi Sunday--thanks for posting that link. I personally have done a ton of IF without sleep problems--but the ptero made me a total insomniac. I took one this morning because I am totally jet lagged from a trip, so we will see how I do tonight. I know Mark is right--some women can't fast without sleep problems--which to me makes some evolutionary sense--babies get fed first, moms will go without but need to stay alert for the possibility of food and/or defense against predation when vulnerable.

My sleep was beyond horrible before JUDDD and I'm not even talking about the sleepwalk eating which was, well the worst!!!!!!!!!!
I sleep significantly better and sleepwalk/eat less than once a week now it appears. The side effects of this are marvelous- obviously less sleepwalk/eating results in weight loss and DW is sleepng way better now that I don't roam the house all night and do dangerous things like cook on the gas stove
It hasn't stopped 100%, but in 15+ years it has never been this under control. I have taken some serious medications to try to control this and although I still take some- nothing near what I use to be rx'ed and took. Everyone is different and I have seen changes in my TOM, which is a little worrisome, but I'm so much more enegetic and of course thinner that I'm not overly concerned yet.

I hope there continues to be research since I think us women are different, but for me JUDDD has been the answer to my prayers regarding the sleep issues.

This is weird. I'm actually MORE hungry with this supplement. Monday was supposed to be a DD but I was really gut rumblingly hungry by 12.00 so I just ate a half tub of coleslaw and a tub of Mexican hot pot from Innocent. Pretty sure that just blew all my calories for the day.

But

My tight jeans are suddenly comfortable and my rings are loose. I've not weighed so I can't confirm but it looks like I must have dropped some weight whilst eating happily for two UDs at the weekend. One thing I did notice was I stopped eating when I was full and wanted smaller portions. I hardly ever feel actually full but at the weekend I was getting that message to "stop now". So I'm going to go with what my body is telling me for today, track those calories and see what happens.

I also am dreaming a lot - really vivid and long dreams that I remember. This is the same effect you get if you take Melatonin. It's quite disconcerting.

I'm also getting a bit of a headache in the background? A sort of buzzy feeling in the head. I don't think I'd risk taking two of these a day. They seem to be powerful in their effect. I do love the energy and focus. I'd say they have a deep effect on your brain/mood/energy. I've never taken Speed but I can imagine it's a similar feeling.

This does make me wonder, like another poster here, "are they legal?" I know they are and nothing suggests they are anything but brilliant for your health but a little warning bell is going off somewhere.

I'm going to keep on until the end of the bottle and see how it settles down.

Carly, You should write to Dr. Johnson about your amazing sleep changes! I can only imagine the improvement in your quality of life.

I have only had maybe a couple of times when I couldn't sleep, but I honestly could have been having difficulty due to caffeine instead of fasting. I do feel for the ones who have been having dire insomnia. It is not a way to live at all!

I have read somewhere and I will have to go search for it, that there is a major study being done right now in the Netherlands re: women/men and fasting benefits/differences. Men have done extremely well with fasting regularly.

Stargazer,
How long have you been on ptero? I never noticed an increase in hunger, but it may take a few days of taking it to get the results that I have experienced. I seemed to be one of the lucky ones and lost my appetite right away.

I see that they have some at a health store near me. Is there a particular ratio recommended by those of you who have gotten good results? This one has 50 mg of pb and 50 mg of blueberry...and for some reason, rice flour?
