Just had my first official weigh in and after one week JUDDDing I'm down 4.2lbs!!! This is amazing for me. The scale has been stuck on 190 for so long to see it go down and while following such an easy WOE, I'm so happy!

1st week of Juddding. My first weigh in is Thursday. Hoping this the WOE I have been hoping for. I was doing lowcarb and had o.k success but really don't like the feeling of restricting any foods from my diet. Still trying to keep lowish on carbs but not so worried about them. Freedom is sweet. My DD have been very doable but UU days I'm still trying to manage..Trying not to overeat. Night time eating and snacking and my love for wine is my downfall. Really think this is for me..Question. I have a family picnic on Sunday and its a DD, how can I switch days successfully? Thanks.

Hey everyone,
I did a little bit of the Juddd thing last year but was not ready to quit trying every diet known to man lol Which has absolutely got me no where but losing the same 5 to 7 lbs over and over again. I'm tired of the diet games and ready to settle down to just one plan and this is the one.

I have been reading a lot of new studies about intermittent fasting and they all have some really nice results for weight loss aging and keeping my brain going as I get older. Hate to get skinny and be brain dead and a wrinkled prune

I have been to goal many times but always let it sneak back on. But since the menopause horrors I have put back on 45 lbs and it just does not want to go away any time soon.

So after 3 years of trying to get rid of it quick, I have concluded it isn't going to happen and to just settle into a eating plan that will slowly get me back down the road

Since I put the weight back on I have refused to go buy fat clothes again and have been living in oversize t shirts and hand me downs from my kids that have lost weight and my mother who wears the larger size but not my taste in clothes lol. I did pack all
my small size clothes and sent them to my sons house to store no room in my tiny house. It would be really great to bring them back home.

Im 54 and weigh as of this morning 177.2 well change my stats today sometime.
Today is my first DD and so far so good, wanting to eat just to eat. I am a big time grazer and I think that is my biggest down fall. I am going to follow the ud dd rotation but do it with an 8 hour eating window. Which now I'm pushing till 1pm for the first meal and ending at 9pm. I hope to push to a 3pm to 11pm as i go to bed at 11:30 and really need to eat to sleep or i well be raiding in the middle of the night. I well stick to the 500 calories on the dd but well not get compulsive on counting calories on up days.

I will not weigh again for a month as the scale just plays mind games with me and it is an easy out if I don't like what I see.

oh and i love the frozen banana shakes too. I always buy a lot of them and freeze them as soon as they ripen. Mashing up a frozen banana makes for a good banana ice cream

Anyhoo rambled enough will check in later off to read some more post to get caught up
Have a great day

Surfnmom, welcome! Your approach sounds well thought out. You sound like a success story already.
I hope you'll post often with the results of your choices whether or not they involve being on a scale.
Enjoy your early days. We're here for support and encouragement.

Great good welcome SurfinMom

How tall are you as that really makes it easier to see how the weight is high or not.
I just made a coconut milk LIGHT/ice/stevia/vanilla shake for a change of pace but nothing is as good to me as that b'nana shake. I tripped with the vanilla and that might have made the taste not so good so I will do another tonight and aim better with the van. Course the lite nut milk just is not as yummy as the whole stuff but a 125 cal. shake is waaaaay more sensical the the reg. coconut milk. Oh, I like the frozen banana slices and also think they taste just like ice cream. Gotta eat them fast as thawed are not so good. I weigh monthly as well.
bbl as I do want to do a little gardening between rain falls that are off and on today. Wet does keep the buggies down some.

two days in... a DD and today, an UD, which was lovely (1741 cals... including a savoured, nonbingey, counted donut after spin class, eaten with a coffee, yum) (and some low fat fro yo out with two of my teens as one of them is leaving tomorrow on exchange, so that seemed special... but the cake mix cake someone brought over for her is sitting 2 feet away from me as I type and I could care less... not hungry, no need, no biggy... which feels very cool, as often on a "diet" I get this caged feeling that makes me crave crappy sweets... I know this is early early days, so time will tell, but so far so good, and after a year of struggling to lose, and 4 yrs of yoyo gaining, I will take it!!!!)

Kristin thank you for the welcome

Norfolk Mermaid Im 5'5 tall and thank you for the welcome

Well I have good news and semi good news, last night at 7:02pm I quit smoking. sorta not in my plains, but dealing with it.

The semi good news is I stayed in my 8 hr eating window, But what started as a dd turned in to a ud. I got the munchies wanting the cig.

So I am going to see if i can do both quit smoking and new eating plan But hey why not, slap me and wake me up

So with baby steps I move onward Today is an UD and will attempt to carry out my plan

Back up to my starting weight again...after a whole 3 day weekend full of cooking, serving & cleaning up for a houseful of out of town guests.

Ok, now that I got that over with and survived without too much damage... I need to relax, rotate, and what was that third thing again?

Hey Surfnmom, welcome to the forum and I feel sure you've found a new home...the folks are great here and are very supportive. Good luck with the quitting smoking, too; major changes in your life. Don't lose sight of your goals. You can do it...believe me, if I can so can you.

I'm an old overweight Army sarge who allowed herself to gain weight when she quit smoking at the end of my military career and never took it off. Now, 20 years later, I'm struggling but losing steadily for the first time in my life...so far, I've lost 22 pounds in just under three months and looking to be merely "overweight" next month, not obese.

Are you using anything to help with the cigarette cravings? One time I quit under hypnosis and didn't miss them for over three months...only started again as I felt it was that, or slay another sergeant and I knew that wasn't the way to go. It's amazing the excuses we use to pick 'em back up. I finally used the patches and that helped immensely, but I had decided it was time to quit and that's what really did it.

A couple of suggestions when either craving kicks in is to drink a large glass of water, brush your teeth, or take a walk or a do a bit of exercise. The water gives you time to reflect and many times will kill the craving entirely. Brushing you teeth gives you an uplift and changes the taste in your mouth so that you don't want either cigarette or food. And the exercise gives the body something to do other than dwell on the craving. Doing something with your hands helps to kill the hand/mouth relation...knitting, crochet, typing, you name it.

Good luck, I know you can do it and you'll get a lot of support here...keep in touch and let us know how you're doing.

I quit smoking almost 1 year ago. It was the best gift I could have given myself. I can honestly say I don't miss anything about it and I smoked every day for 20 years. It shocks me every time I realize that I use to think I would smoke forever. I really didn't think I could ever quit for the long term. The only thing that comes close to the joy of putting cigarettes in my past is finding JUDDD and this site!

to all of the new BUDDDs! I love reading your posts full of excitement for JUDDD.

Carly - Congrats on almost one year without smoking! What an incredible thing you have done for yourself.

Cahira - I so know what you are talking about with the "last supper" mentality. I feel like JUDDD has really helped me break that bad behavior. No more last suppers, just wonderful UD meals and no guilt!

This weekend will be my first test on sticking with JUDDD on a vacation--heading to Chicago today to visit family. And you KNOW that good Chicago pizza is going to be in the plans! My down days are Saturday and Monday. Monday I'm heading back home, after brunch--I think I'll be ok if I just eat light. It's a 6 hour drive back home and I'll be ready for bed by the time I get there. Saturday's going to be the hard day. But I'm excited to see how I do come Tuesday morning weigh-in.

Hope you all have the most wonderful holiday weekend!

Good morning soon to be September'ers,

Glad to see August heat to begin leaving my little corner of the world. No house A/C has been "ELL" for the last 3 summers... $$$ woes but it is how I lived as a child so being healthy in most ways I am GOOD.
UP here today so I feel pretty great about that... I have morning nausea after a down day, from my diabetes I guess, but it almost always passes with a big protein breaky. I will be doing a monthly weigh after a down day either Sunday or Tuesday... prolly Tuesday. Scared a lot about it but will hope for the best. I have a pair of green shorts that I will try on on Sunday as they would not close when I started on Aug. 3rd! We'll SEEEEE!
I need to shop for just about everything but will use my "Johnson Book" this time and hope September will be a lot more stream lined than the breaking in of the first month. Also time to try some new reciepes from the down day site.

Well done all you wonderful August Newbies.

Things have slowed down on the Newbie front lately but I'll still start a 'September Newbie' thread.

Do keep posting there if you would like, there are no hard and fast rules here. And join in the Daily Chat thread etc.

Lainey I can't wait to see your results, you have done such a great job in that terrible heat.

See you in September!
