The first question makes them sound dumb, unless they plan on encouraging you to do so because they are confident.

They ask the second question to find out which energy efficiency you should choose - the different ones take different times to recoup value.

The third question makes them sound dumb, unless they fear a savvy company would catch them in mistakes.

They ask the fourth question because they might like the chance to finance it themselves.

The fifth question just makes them sound dumb. Even if they are surveying whether they need an internet presence - that's dumb.

They may go to county records to discover the square footage of a house, but anything further than that makes them sound dumb.

You know, once I was considering hiring a local pest control company but I noticed the fellow stirring the pesticide with his hand. Don't hire dumb.

Hi all, I'm kind of sailing through here today as I usually get on way earlier in the day! Thanks for all your support during my "metal thing" shock! It was at the doctors office and it's been weighing me less there (with clothes) than mine at home (naked). BUT ... my clothes still feel good, so I know it must be water with continued healing. Your encouragement means a great deal to me!

Tina, for all of you.

Nonnie has finally been diagnosed with a UTI. In older people, this can cause extreme confusion. The last time she was like this, it was a UTI as well (along with likely a tia to complicate things). Once the abx started taking effect, she became more lucid. We are praying for the same outcome this time. She's still in the hospital and will be going to a rehab care facility when she leaves there. Still scary, but at least a little hopeful now.

Thanks for your prayers.

Tina, if the dr approves, she could be put on a daily maintenance dose of D-Mannose so that she doesn't get another UTI. I have done that when I could with my various family eldercare and it works well. My aunt was on the one daily of the capsules from Soloray brand, but then she could swallow well. If there is any swallowing problem with pills, there are also powders to mix into juice. My aunt's dr was delighted that she was free of UTIs then, after he had feared they were becoming chronic.

Thank you Whitlin'. I will mention that to my mom. She's ok still swallowing pills still.

Feeling happy to see 124 on the scale again. TOM brought 126, and I was trying not to panic. Now he's gone, and I'm back where I like to be. Whew! My appetite is settled again too. Hormones can be evil. LOL

Hi everybody. I'm going to a first read through of a play of mine tonight. Holy mackerel, I feel as though I swallowed a blender, I'm so nervous. You spend forever with these characters in your head. You fall in love with them. And then you hear actors do it out loud. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's horrifying. I'm so glad it's an UD. I'll be doing a couple of glasses of red wine when I get home.
Hope everybody is having a grand day.

No guilt best WOE

I came to ramble on but first I have to say to Joy I know you will do great. What a fun way to make a living Okay, I have been messing up my DD, but I am back on track today. Feel really great. I love this WOE, because even if you mess up, when you get in one good DD you feel better and still lose weight. I watched Dr. Oz yesterday and he had Dr. Keith Ablo on and he said to pick a diet program, tell some people you trust and get support. I think that is what I have done here. I have not been able to commit to a diet for a long while. I am fully commited to this WOE and counting my calories. If I am planning on eating out I can save my calories until dinner. This is the most flexible WOE I have ever seen If I am not hungry I don't have to eat, I can wait until I am. If I am hungry and can't eat no worries I can eat tomorrow. I can be vegetarian or not vegetarian no guilt If you over due at one meal and not sure of the calories, stop yourself don't keep overeating and eat less at the next meal and tomorrow is a DD so no worries Really any diet you choose and can stick with will work, this is mine

Today, August 8,2012, marks my seventh month on JUDDD. I started January 8, 2012 and I am now 149 pounds and I was 180 when I started. I was 147 this morning but my UD bounce will be back up in the morning so I will claim 149 as my official weight today. It took me 7 months to lose what I lost on LCLF in 6 weeks many years ago. BUT I have enjoyed every day (yes, even the DD's) and I have loved being able to eat all the fresh veggies, fruits and my favorite, Bluebell ice cream that will fit into my calorie range. I am less than 10 pounds from my original goal so we shall see what happens when I get there.
I LOVE JUDDD and I thank everyone for all of the support and suggestions I have received over the months. Especially the first two months when I was floundering with no energy and just dragging through my DD's as well as my UD's.
Looking forward to many more months of JUDDD'ing.

Adi, what a gorgeous report. I'm going to go back and read your floundering posts. It's hard to imagine you floundering. Congratulations on such an enormous accomplishment.
Beverly, I write comedies with inevitable dark streaks. All with middle-aged female protagonists, whose stories get far too little time on stage in my opinion. The reading went well. good actors, good feedback. Excited about rewrites, now.

Amy, it was excellent, thanks! Solid story, solid shape to it, and work to do that will be mostly enjoyable.
It is awesome to watch characters who've been in your head come to life. Thanks for asking.
I'm glad you love plays. I'd love to hear why you love them, in this age of declining audiences for anything but mega- musicals. (And I'm not dissing mega-musicals.)

You are my kind of lady!! That takes true talent and I really admire people who can write comedy. I LOVE that you are using middle-aged female protagonists. I am so happy for you the reading went well. A truly exciting time for you!

adi, congratulations! I feel confident in saying these JUDDD 7 months have afforded you more health benefits and mental ease than you could have found spending the time in any other weight-loss plan. You are a great example. My long-time maintenance weight is 149, possibly part of why my body is dawdling around in the low 150s right now! But that's okay, because this is not a race (adventure, yes, race, no).

Joy-Joy, I'm so glad you find yourself excited about the process! Happy work. I would say I enjoy comedic plays, but not so much others. I would probably choose "Nunsense" over "Night of the Iguana", even if it makes me less sophisticated!

Connie, I never said to you how much fun it would be to show up for a quiltmaking weekend! I hope the renovations give you a space in which a lot of creativity can bloom.

Kristin you're an actor/writer, how incredibly cool! I was a theatre major and am a recovering actor (as we know, addiction is a lifelong, one-day-at-a-time thing, tee hee), couldn't hack the "no parts for fat chicks" thing. So let me put in a blatant plug for parts for women of size in your future work! I think when the theatre starts to die, it's a sign a culture is on its last legs; it means we're no longer interested in our own stories anymore...here's to you for doing the cultural CPR

Whitlin', funny, I can only write comedy - dark comedy, granted. But my favorite roles are all ridiculously heavy. I just finished a stint as Sister Aloysius in Doubt. Yikes.
And Patti, I agree about the legs of culture. There's something intoxicating about great stories being played out so close to your face that you can see spit flying. And the "no parts for fat chicks" thing makes me nuts. It's like a HUGE demographic (women 25-65) just disappears from stage and film. Ah, well, I'll do my wee part to change that.
Happy day, everybody.

Kristen glad it went well!

Adi, congrats to you on such a successful journey.

Took oldest to a campus visit today. Wicked insomnia last night had me up till 3am and the alarm went off at 6:30. I'm exhausted. Almost fell asleep in Bass Pro waiting for my guys to finish looking at guns, and knives, and grills, and fishing tackle, and.....

My Nonnie will be getting a pacemaker tomorrow morning. Lots of heart reg issues, including it stopping for 3-5 sec at a time. Made more complicated by the fact that she's been on plavix for the tia's. A little scary, so prayers would be appreciated.

And came home to a message that a young (late 20's) man in our church died last night from an aneurism, leaving a wife and 9 yo step-daughter (that he's been Daddy to since she was a toddler). So incredibly sad.

Sorry to be a downer, I just needed to share somewhere.

I haven't had a chance to read through the forum, but wanted to drop in and say "Hi" to my buds and give a little update. I posted a similar thing in the maintenance thread.

Good news is, my maintenance is back on track. See, I had stopped weighing daily through June and by the first of July, I started weighing again daily and found I was up on the scale all the time. I ranged between 139 - 141#. I didn't panic or anything, but figured it was due to the extreme heat and/or playing with my Metformin dose, and/or the way my eating habits had changed some (adding a little more wheat/carbs).

By the end of July I got it straightened out. I'm now back in my maintenance range that you see in my stats. I weigh myself daily or at least every few days, rather than every couple weeks or so like I was before.

I haven't been doing regular JUDDD or even focusing on MUDDD, but I do keep track of what I eat most days, and I find that I naturally do a sort of alternate day schedule without realizing it. What I mean is, some days I eat a lot more food than usual, and the next day I'm just not as hungry. Also, I usually am doing a type of IF daily, such as not eating breakfast or not eating late, one or the other. Again, it's not really a conscious effort, just something that seems to work itself into a natural pattern.

My healthy eating has fallen off some over the last few weeks, but I'm slowly increasing my fruit and vegs again. I think it's just that I'm eating more carbs than usual now - sandwiches and potato chips (lower fat kettle chips usually), natural cereals, etc.

I guess my lesson from this would be that it's OK to experiment - have fun and don't panic if it doesn't work out - just go back to what you were doing that worked, but ALSO.... weigh regularly to see how it's affecting you.

you all.

Huh. An up day and I'm not hungry. A couple of eggs for breakfast, half a sandwich for lunch. We are going out to eat tonight so I will eat something with a few more calories to see if I can get them in. Sour cream, full fat dressing, fattier meat... this can be done. And it's only 2 weeks into JUDDD and this is happening. I'm floored. I could maybe become one of those people who forget to eat! You know, those annoying thin people we laugh at.
I've forgotten to pay bills.
Forgotten to do laundry.
Forgotten to pick up my kids.
But I've never forgotten to eat.

Maybe that's about to change.
