No problem at all. I'm not shy about my girlie parts!

I loved my Mirena so much I actually kept it way longer than recommended. I had it for 7 1/2 years! I would have had it replaced but I have a huge deductible with my insurance and would have to pay for it completely out of pocket. The device itself is $850.00 before the procedure, so that's out of my budget for now.

Some doctors will give you a medication the day before insertion, which will soften the cervix and make it easier. If yours will, I do recommend doing that. I didn't and mine was a little difficult to place. Of course I had it put in about 10 weeks after my Cesarean, so I don't know if that posed any special problems. Even so, it was so worth it! I didn't have a period for the last 7 1/2 years (which is why I was fairly certain it was still working).

Back to your previously scheduled weigh-ins!

Thank you everyone for rooting me on. You all are the best!

I never thought my weight loss would be compared to an Olympic event. I guess it's like the marathon, since it's a long distance event (at least at my starting weight), so I'm heading into mile 20 or so with no signs of slowing down. Thank goodness I'm allowed to carb-load with JUDDD!

Dawn I know what you mean, I get the depo shot and no periods is awesome I am pretty sure alot of my weight gain is because of the bc shot ithe timing and all time high weight started with it) but It is even worth working harder to lose weight than to have a period. I was afraid of all of the inserted permanent bc because of all of the comercials about a side effect of them breaking through the uterine walls.. wow even my bf said something when he heard that commercial! He's like don't get that!

Any chance your insurance is changing with the Affordable Health Care Act?

Supposedly, a lot of changes regarding birth control and women's health care went into effect on August 1st.

"All FDA-approved birth control--including IUDs--are now covered by insurance when prescribed by your doctor." "No cost-sharing like co-pays or deductibles."

The Depo shot is well known to have significant weight gain as a side effect. I'm a Certified Nurse Midwife and I've prescribed these contraceptive methods. I don't usually recommend Depo to women who are already concerned about their weight or are hoping to lose. It could definitely make it hard for you to lose... Just FYI! The Mirena, on the other hand, most women are very happy with! No weight gain side effect, usually just the scant or absent periods. However, although unusual, I have seen a couple of women end up pregnant with the Mirena and I have heard of it somehow ending up outside the uterus (thus one of the pregnancies!). So, stuff happens no matter which method of birth control you use and none are 100%, unfortunately. But, I do like Mirena! And Implanon, which is the little rod in your arm, is good too.
Me, I had my tubes tied after baby #3!

OK, back to the JUDDD weigh ins...

July 8 was my first day ever of JUDDD. I was at 178.2 on July 9, having just come off of a 2 week HCG round where I started at 183. At the end of July, I had a week of all UD due to a business trip, etc.... So, my goal for August is to see the 160's for the first time in a couple of years! I'm keeping my DD around 500 cals, going to shoot for 2000 cals or less on most UD.

Aug. 1- 180.4 DD Remember, this is following a week of Very UD!
Aug. 2- 176.4 UD
Aug. 3- 179.2 DD

Okay just jumping in... I had the copper IUD because it doesn't have any hormones. Yup, I had it for over 3 years. Recently got it removed because I became pregnant! Wouldn't give up my incredible daughter for anything though.

As far as weight gain/loss with that one. I don't remember really gaining any weight when I got it put in. Of course I was pregnant and gaining weight when it was taken out.

That's interesting. My appointment was on August 1st, and that's when they petitioned my insurance. I got the call yesterday, that I would still have to pay up to my deductible. Even worse, I'm double covered, but I would have to pay up to my deductible on the insurance I'm the primary on, and that deductible is $2500.00. I think I'll give it a month or two for everyone to get more comfortable with the changes, and then see if it can be done.

Good news, Erika.

Interesting, Jenny.

Dawn, don't worry, I have the balloons in a net so they won't get away tomorrow until you say so.

Height - some exercise programs may increase height back to previous. Pilates and T-Tapp both have lots of exercisers who say they've had this happen, and I think I've read on this site that Callenetics does, too.

Years ago I was getting the depo shot to try and control my endometriosis. They had to keep upping the dose, my periods never stopped, and I gained 40lbs! I finally got the hysterectomy I'd been begging for, and lost half of the weight. Took years to lose the rest.
