Question about induction and 500 calories

Hi Everyone! Just wondering, my husband wants to start JUDDD. He wants the benefits, but doesn't need to lose weight. He exercises alot. 2years of P90x and Insanity. So his UD calories are around 3200 and DD around 800. Do you have to do the 2 weeks of induction when your DD are not 500? Thanks

I would say he can go for it on 800 to 1,000. If his UD is 3200, he has a lot of room in his DD number. I think it is awesome that he is wanting the health benefits!

Hey Holly-sounds like my husband. He works out a lot and is doing JUDDD for the health benefits. He HAS lost weight but didn't need to. I feed him as much as he can eat because I'm afraid he's going to disappear! Around 1000 on DD and don't really count UDs. He loves JUDDD! If I ever decided not to do it (which I don't see happening) he would still do it.

I should add, my DH started on 04/18 with me on JUDDD, not really interested but willing to go along for the ride. He has lost 34 pounds and has been at goal weight for 4 weeks...me, only 17 and would like to lose 13 more!

I love that we have so many hubbies on board!

Mine is a booger. He eats ice cream every night and chocolate milk several times per day. He says he is too old to change. The thing is he eats very small portions compared to most men, so if I were to run his numbers, he is probably eating low cals for a man. Doesn't eat red meat and loves fish/seafood/chicken.

If I were you I would put his stats into the calculator and write down numbers all the way up to maintenance @ 75%. In the book, Dr. J says research shows the SIRT1 gene is activated with all it's health benefits up to the 75% mark on DDs. That way you will know his range. If he does not need to lose weight, he should eat as much as possible and still get the benefits IMHO! Right? Good for you for motivating him to do this wonderful WOE!

If his daily maintenance calories are 3200, then any lower percentage on DDs may cause a deficit (although, consensus seems to be that the calculator gives pretty generous maintenance calories).

In other words, he may need to eat MORE on UDs to prevent losing weight.

He'd need to eat 6400 cals every two days (theoretically).

So he might want to do 2200 cal DDs and 4200 cal UDs, for example.
(Take the calories he's not eating on DDs and add them to UDs.)

Do you have any idea how much he eats right now, before he starts JUDDD?

Thanks. So consensus is he doesn't need to start at 500

How long have you been Juddding Reagan?

The reason I ask, is I have seen many not lose until they have JUDDD for a few weeks.

Reagan, it's only been 4 days since you posted you were losing and seemed so excited. 4 days is not long enough to even worry about. I know it's frustrating when you expect losses every day, but that's just now how our bodies work. Please try to be patient, and it WILL catch up, and you WILL continue losing. Really.

I've had weeks where I gained, despite doing everything "right" and they are just a blip now in the grand scheme of things.
