Thanks you guys. I am already using a lot of Miracle Noodles. I was actually worried they may be constipating me.

I am loving this group of JUDDDers. I can't thank you enough for holding my hand.

There are several of us that gluc and shirataki noodles clog us up. So it is something to consider.

It seems very strange that they could clog some and unclog others!

Addi is correct about the miracle noodles. If you go to the gluc thread on the main forum many have reported that if you do not drink a lot of water, it is probably not a great idea to eat them.

I have to be very careful and only have one half a package of noodles per meal with a couple of glasses of water. I believe this is pretty much all fibre supplements, in that if you don't drink water it will have the opposite effect on your digestion.

Hmmmm. I drink tons and tons of water. I have a 24 oz cup and I fill it about 6-8 times a day. But I do use one package in my one-dish recipes, which is what they call for.

I "thought" I drank a lot of water and would not have a problem with gluc or the noodles but even drinking like a fish, I have issues. Just my digestive system I guess. Not good though.

I just did a google search for side effects of gluc and it sounds like the shirataki noodles do not have the same side effects of gluc powder or tablets. Also it says that shirataki would not cause constipation but rather the opposite (diarrhea) and bloating. If you are not taking the konjac capsules, then I would think you should be fine with eating the noodles.

You may want to read up more. I read that Dr. Oz has some info on his site about how to take the konjac powder and he suggests only taking it mixed in a smoothie to keep from having the issues.

Buttah, I am one who had to steer clear of eating more than 1/2 packet at a meal. The thing is I absolutely love the noodles, but if I eat a whole packet in one meal, I suffer for the remainder of the day. My stomach cramps and my digestion is very painful. I read from other reviewers on Amazon who had the same issues. I think everyone is different so if you have no problems with a whole packet, then you should keep eating the same.

Good to know. I actually think it was the almost zero fat/low fiber (other than shirataki noodles) from when I was on Dukan that messed me up. Since starting JUDDD, I am now on my second day of Metamucil powder, and I've been eating veggies every day, getting fiber in oat bran/wheat germ/flax seed), so hopefully I will be okay with my one package of S noodles. I can't imagine getting through a DD without them. (I've got a yummy curry recipe I must remember to post).

You know the Shirataki helped me a lot when I began JUDDD, and it is unbelievably filling. Great in dishes where you add small amount of protein and spices. It seems the longer that I JUDDD, the more that I find eating once on DD is the easiest. If I try and eat 2 or 3 meals, then I run into the issues of going over cals or being hungry. I am loving the simplicity of one meal and then it is over with until tomorrow.

sunday, what time do you usually eat your one meal? At this point, i can't imagine doing that, but I'm guessing it will become easier.

I like to wait until dinner if at all possible. Today, I was going to drink broth for lunch and I forgot, so I made it till 5 and then had my 4 oz ground beef browned with mushrooms and onions. I have tried both ways of eating a breakfast and no dinner and/or a lunch and no dinner. It is not near as bad after you have JUDDD for a few weeks The appetite suppresion keeps you from being hungry. I drink a lot of water and oolong tea.

You know the best advice I was given for DD is to keep all 3 levels on hand just in case you need them. For instance 20% is 324, 30% 524 & 40% 724.

This means the world of difference. Then if you have a day where you can't keep your calories low for whatever reason, you have numbers that you can still have JUDDD.

Hi there Kim! I have done very low 120 cals and even full day fasting and it doesn't seem to make the scale move faster. So, I eat! And the strange thing is I always have more appetite suppression on UD than Down but I at least get as close as possible to my UD calories.

Oh, I have had those days! Especially after a big event like a birthday celebration or fun.

I think I may have discovered the answer. Give me a couple of more weeks and I will report back. I just began a new supplement that is similar to resveratrol by Jarrow called "Sirtuin Activator Trans- Pterostilbene". It is supposed to mimic intermittent fasting. Unbelievable, Kimberly, I am never hungry. It is almost scary.

I read your post about that supplement in the other thread. I'm interested to see how it goes for you. I'm worried to take it myself since I reacted to the Resveratrol, but if it works well, I may try it anyway.

Dawn, from my experience and from what I am reading it doesn't have the same side effects as resveratrol. Pterostilbene is similar and is made from blueberries, cranberries, and lingonberry. Since it is so cheap, I think I will take it both UD & DD. My logic was, that I would only do this for DD, but it actually gives me a bit of a boost that I am enjoying.

Also, resveratrol was costly. Or at least the better type, trans-resveratrol was pretty expensive.

From Jarrow website~

Give your weight loss plan a boost with Jarrow Trans-Pterostilbene. It delivers 99% pure pterostilbene. Pterostilbene is a methylated, naturally occurring form of resveratrol and has better uptake and metabolic stability in the body. Pterostilbene is a calorie restriction mimetic that activates the sirtuin pathway. Emerging science suggests that pterostilbene may exhibit special benefits in brain function and health. When combined with a healthy diet and exercise plan, trans-pterostilbene vegetarian capsules may be a valuable aid in your weight loss plan. No wheat, gluten, soybeans, dairy, egg, fish/shellfish or peanuts/tree nuts.

From Biotivia website~

•Pterostilbene is a powerful Resveratrol cousin, also called an anolog, found in blueberries, and long associated with improved cognition and memory.
•In addition to memory and cognitive enhancement, Pterostilbene supports increased physical energy, weight control and lean mass improvement. It has been found to have potential neurological benefits even superior to those of pure Resveratrol.
•Polydatin another Resveratrol analog, has antioxidant, blood sugar balancing and cerebral-protective properties. Polydatin enhancment is a Biotivia exclusive.

My main concern is that the study is only on animals and that the human studies will not be out until 2013. So, I am essentially being a guinea pig for one month. I don't know... could be too much of a good thing? My weight is not dropping like hotcakes yet either. but I feel dang good not eating.

On wiki~

Hey Kissa, I looked up the Life Extension and it only has 25 mg of the pterostilbene. Does UK have the ability to order from Swanson Vitamins? They have a cheaper brand than Jarrow for $7.49 and it says that it is 50 mg. Swanson makes great vitamins.

My fear is that once the scientific studies are complete and word is out on pterostilbene that prices will skyrocket like they have for resveratrol.

Very interesting. What dose are you taking? I would love not to feel hungry so I can move on with my weight loss. I had complete appetite suppression for many months, but it seems to have disappeared. I would love to never feel hungry.

I ordered some! Yes they had it on the UK Amazon site for £13.99 for 60 caps, very good price, much less than I have to spend on my Resveratrol.

Dawn, I am praying this does not make you have a headache! It is blueberries, but the thing is it is close to resveratrol. Please let me know!

Wonderful! I have found out that the study that the University of Mississippi just conducted should have more results soon to be published, but one of the things they said it is most definitely lowering cholesterol, balancing blood sugar and boosting brain health. Love that we can use this as a help for DD.

Maybe it is the blood sugar connection that keeps the hungries at bay???

Thanks Sunday. I ordered some and am willing to be a test subject as well. I am willing to try anything to put the hungries at bay once again. Plus all those side benefits look pretty darn good!

There are a few of us here who have the same love of tequila and tortilla chips. Someday we should plan a get together --maybe a Mexican cruise-- and pig out together.
