Does TOM affect hunger on DD?

I am having the worst DD. man! I want to eat so bad. And it's actual hunger. I've tried a bunch of tricks that normally work (for example; i'm just about to have some psyllium and if that doesn't work.....hot tea!) but to be perfectly honest....none of them seem to be helping. I've managed to hold out all day but it's been an epic battle, I kid you not. Ive been doing this for 2 weeks now and the only thing that I can think of that may be causing it is my TOM. My previous DDs went relatively well. Anyone notice that hunger was more of an issue during TOM?

Yup. I've only been doing this for a few months, but I raise my cals a bit for TOM. I go almost to maintenance levels. The hunger is intense!

Yes, Dee, it's perfectly normal. I get intense, "eat-down-the-house" hunger around ovulation and Tom, and like you, I tried to fight it. For me it was a hopeless battle. My body NEEDS those calories for some reason, or thinks it does, and fights me tooth and nail to get them. So I do my best, but I do eat to satisfaction. And eating higher calories at this time has never caused me any problems in the longterm. When the hormonal hunger ends, everything is back to normal including the weight loss.

Eat how you need to during this time. Big my JUDDD bud! All will be well.

Yes it happens to me as well. I just tough it out, it's only one day. But to each his own. Everyone must do what works for them.

Yes, that happens!!! Sometimes you may need to eat a little more.
I've had TOM arrive a few days early, but I suspected he was coming because I was so darn hungry!!!

However, I just had my first TOM without crazy hunger or cravings!!!
I've been taking L-Glutamine very regularly for about 2 months, and I think that might be what's helping.

For me, when I was right in TOM the other week, I wasn't as hungry. But then, I also get very "nest-y" and clean and tidy the house, and get very organized, etc... lasts about 3 days LOL

during PMS however? Whoa. If it's not nailed down, I'll eat it.

Like you guys, I decided to relax (rejoice, rotate LOL thanks Cindy) and look at my % options... 20%, 25%, etc... The other night, I went about 40-45% of my cals on my DD.

I don't do that often, but man o man, what a "win" for me, not beating myself up about it.

So, some days I have 350 (rarely) and other DDs I have 600 or 700 or VERY rarely, 850.

I'm rolling with it, and I think you can too!

I'm taking tonalin CLA every day, which I think is helping a bit, and I have caffeine on my DDs, which helps too (though it makes me hyper, so I try to moderate it a bit...)

HTH

guys, my TOM is almost over. I have no other explanation for this intense hunger. Today is UD and I still have it. I haven't had this kind of hunger for a long time. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the HHCG treatment? I was fine the first 2 weeks of JUDDD...but then yesterday this started. I don't want to end up with a UUAD so I am attempting to keep it under control. Has anyone else had this happen spontaneously? Does it go away?

BTW, my last dose of HHCG was in May. So not sure if that could be it either...I'm grasping at straws. I was very happy with how my body was reacting to the diet up until yesterday. I hope this is a 24 hour thing? Like the flu???? LOL. ok no more laughing..I'm serious. Ugh.....

I don't know. For me it just happens sporadically. Once in a blue moon I get crazy intense cravings. I just give in usually. It rarely lasts more than a day or two. I do recall maybe 6 months ago having one that lasted 3-4 days and that was the first time that ever happened to me.

Well....at least it's not just me. I know it's not psychological b/c I was fine before. And my lunches on my UD were more than enough to satisfy me...usually I bring a bit home. Not going to happen today!!

My hormonal hungries last 3 - 4 days, sometimes less, sometimes more. Like I said above, I try to make good choices during these times, but often I just have to go with it, knowing that it won't hurt my weight in the long run. I read it has to do with seratonin during our hormonal fluctuations, and so we especially tend to crave stuff that will boost seratonin - the carbier stuff, the sweet stuff. It too shall pass.

Thank you circus girl and sophie; it has finally settled down the past 2 hrs. Thank goodness. I was running out of willpower! I really hope that doesn't happen too often.
Lcbubs; let us know how you are doing. Remember you can always eat on Saturday! Tomorrow is a DD for me too. I feel much more positive and in control again. I just had a weak moment (ok day! It was at least 24 hours) but for the most part....It has gone well. It just took me by surprise. And just knowing others out there (here) could feel my pain...made it bearable. . have a great down day!!
