Sea Tangle Kelp Noodles ~ Anyone ever try them?
I was perusing the Main Lobby (hardly EVER do that anymore...) and saw someone mention these. I checked and Netrition carries them...12oz. pkg is just 18 calories. This is what it says about them:
Kelp Noodles are a sea vegetable in the form of an easy to eat raw noodle. Made of only kelp (a sea vegetable), sodium alginate (sodium salt extracted from a brown seaweed) and water. Kelp Noodles are fat-free, gluten-free and very low in carbohydrates and calories. Their noodle form and neutral taste allow for a variety of uses including salads, stir-fries, hot broths and casseroles. Their healthful content provides a rich source of trace minerals including iodine, which kelp is well known for. Their unique texture completes the package, making Kelp Noodles a one-of-a-kind healthful and tasty alternative to pasta and rice noodles. Best of all, no cooking is required. Just rinse and add the noodles to any dish and they are ready to eat. Soooo...anyone ever try these low-cal, sound-almost-too-good-to-be-true-for-a-DD, noodles? ![]()

They're sort of crunchy. Not hard crunchy like dried noodles. More like they have a "snap" to them when you bite them. I tried them once and liked them, but they didn't like me.

I am in love with Miracle Noodles. It is really helping me with DD. I bought Annie Chun's seaweed snack thinking that I may like it for a healthy snack, it was like eating paper.
I will look for Kelp Noodles next time I go to the Natural Grocer. |

If you're not a nori/sushi fan, I can see not liking them lol. (psst: you can spread them with laughing cow and fold them over and eat, too). |

See? This is why I
you guys! I knew I'd get total honesty...the good, the bad, and the ! Your reviews have helped me decide that I don't need to order these special from Netrition, but if I saw them in te store I might pick up a package if they weren't too expensive and I was feeling adventurous. Thanks, BUDDDs! |

I don't *hate* them...I like nori, but with avocado & spicy mayo, or snipped into a rice salad or noodle soup...by itself I don't find it very appealing, so they don't really work for me as "snacks". I bought mine at an Asian store, and got a 100g pack of 400 "snacks" for about $6. I think that's about 1/3 or a 1/4 of the price of those little packs (SeaSnax, Annie Chun's, Trader Joe's, etc,) so if you seriously like them, I hope you have an Asian market nearby! I LOVE SEAWEED SALAD!!! I just can't figure out which seaweeds to buy in order to make it! ![]()

We buy Sea Tangle Kelp Noodles all the time and have them for a refreshing lunch. I usually make this salad:
1 bag kelp noodles rinsed very well and cut up- I do this with scissors 1 cucumber peeled and cut into bite size pieces Mix all with some Walden Farms Honey Mustard dressing or FF, SF dressing of your choice- The Kelp Noodles take on the flavor of whatever you add to them Sometimes I add bean sprouts. My husband and I love this salad and it fills us up very well for little calories. In fact we are having that today for lunch! Has a nice crunch to it, if you like that. Great to use on dd's. |

I'm a Sea Tangle fan! The trick is to soak them for at least one hour in water and the juice of one lime- this softens them up really nicely.
I love adding seaweed, and a ginger miso dressing that I can make in just a few minutes. the entire recipe is 100 cal per serving- yum! |
