I'm interested in this DVD. My spine is fused from the tail bone to about the bra band. So no range of motion in my lower spine. My neck is also very degenerated, but not fused. Do you think I would be able to do this? I'd love to find some excersize that is low/no impact, since I use to love running and doing aerobics, before my spine issues.

Carly, I'm not sure. There are exercises where you lay on your back and raise your head and shoulders and make tiny little movements like sitting up, you should be able to do those? I think?

There are other ones where you are quasi-sitting up (kind of rolled back off your tailbone, so resting on your lower spine, that I'll bet from your description you would not be able to do. But there are plenty of other exercises that you should be able to do, for legs and your tush and such.

Let me ask: are you able to do Pilates? Because if you are, Callanetics should be doable for you.

One thing you might try is to look for you tube videos of Callanetics Evolution. There might be some clips on you tube that you can look at to see if it's appropriate for your condition.

Or if you're on facebook, search for "Callanetics with Sandra Hanna" and there's a page that the instructor of Callanetics Evolution maintains. (She also posts on LCF.) There are videos there that might help you decide whether it's for you or not.

Carly & anyone else who is interested~ Here is Sandra's FB page. She really is amazing and if you watch some of the videos that she has you will be able to see how gentle this is. Carly, I think you should write Sandra about your spine. She is always answering folks over on the exercise board and she would be glad to help you.

Wow! These threads are going back to 2006, but it really helped to get me motivated to get toning going again. All you have to do is look at the photos to see the results. And I admit that the original Callanetics *80's* is so outdated that the newer Cardio & Evolution Callanetics are much better.
