First UD on the books

Well JUDDD BUDDDs, yesterday was my first UD. Yes, I did go a little crazy, but I knew I would. I think I just had to get it out of my system. It was so much fun though! Pizza, hamburger, onion rings, Cold Stone ice cream

The scale shows a 4.4 lb gain this morning. Ugh. Is that normal after an UD in the beginning?

I'm just repeating the phrase "I won't freak out" to myself over and over again this morning. I will have faith that the scale will go back down!! I'm so scared to screw this up.

This is what I have planned to eat so far today:
Coffee w/half & half
Progresso tomato soup
2 hard boiled eggs

Well, you did totally jump in with your up day!! I am sure that it will bounce back down, most of your gain is water wt. try to stick with your DD calories today and you will see your wt drop. Sometimes it will take until after your 2nd DD to see it drop back all the way... That is the way it is for me anyway. to this WOE!

Don't worry, it's completely normal. It was an UD and if you add in carbs after having restricted them, there's also water weight on top of that. I'm never surprised if I go up 2-5 lbs after a high carb UD. It'll go back down with a couple good DDs.

It's normal!

I bet you'll find that as you get in to the UD/DD rotations, the seductive allure of most everything wanes. What I mean is this: I pizza, a good hamburger (and fries), ice cream and yummy desserts, etc., as much or more than the next guy. I really do. And that's what always, ALWAYS tripped me up when I did low carb - I had the "Last Supper Syndrome" and felt like I had to eat and get it all out of my system. Like who was I kidding?? That I'd somehow never want that stuff again?

But when I know - deep down inside myself KNOW - I CAN have something, AND give myself permission to eat AND enjoy it without any guilt whatsoever, these former trip-wires of mine lose their deadliness. I CAN eat pizza and not think it's the end of my world and go on to eat everything else I've ever liked. The knowing I can have it (whatever "it" is at the moment) as long as I plan for it within my calorie allotment also makes me want to be able to savor "it" for its own sake. I really do enjoy the 'formerly forbiddens' SO much more when I eat nutritiously throughout the day and view the item as a "treat".

It will all work itself out, you just wait and see.

Totally normal. And wasn't it fun?

Frankly, you are not quite on track to win for the record "firt UD bounce". You are not even in the running.

I'm sure a lot of it is water like it has been mentioned so don't stress. It is VERY unlikely you ate 15,400 calories in one day.

I think once you get all the "forbiddens" out of your system, you will do great on this plan. That's what I'm counting on for myself as well!

I'm looking forward to hearing how your first DD goes! Keep posting! I can't wait to be joining you!

I still bounce that much occasionally, but it always comes back down. No worries!

So true!

I went to my neighbor's for Easter and she asked me to pick up ingredients for peach pie. She never got around to making it but I couldn't get it out of my mind...so I bought what I needed to make it myself.

When was Easter? April 8th? I still haven't made peach pie!!! But I think about it *literally* every DD, and plan to make it "tomorrow"...

I don't know if I'll ever get the desire to eat "bad" food out of my system, but w/JUDDD I can often wait weeks or even months to satisfy a craving.

Yes, any day now I'm going to go (on an UD) to Dairy Queen and have an ice cream cone. And maybe a shake. And a Blizzard....one of each flavor.

And when they roll me back out to my car....

Well, it's fun to think about, but it's been over six months now and I am still going to go to DQ on my "next UD."

Thank goodness it's out of the way for me to go there!

hikergirl, at some point you will realize that you don't have to eat it all in one day because there's another UD in another couple days.

You would not be the first person who REALLY enjoyed the first UD!!
