Dottie, So sorry to hear of your dog's problems, and hope that you'll quickly find the correct insulin dosage, and that your dog is feeling better soon.

Brownwyn, tell your husband that computer time is part of your new weight loss plan and he must share it each evening! Wishing you the JUDDD magic for your weigh in!

Dawn, I'm dusting off a champagne flute in anticipation!

I posted this on the pg but here, too. Thanks for all the emotional support

She can come home this evening.
The xrays showed she does have some arthritis and very mild displacia(sp?) but her spine and vertabrae spacing is great and there's nothing "permanent". Said that the diabetes is causing the muscle atrophy and there's a very good chance she will gain that back once it's under control.
Her blood sugar is still a little high (300) so he's increased her to 20uints 2x a day and he is giving me some printouts and will talk to me when we go to get her about what to watch for.
He does think we'll need to reduce the insulin as she gets under control, so he'll tell me what to watch for and to call them when she has any signs.
They didn't feed her or give her insulin this morning because of the sedation for the xrays, but he said she's coming out of the sedation and looking for her bowl lol, so they're going to feed her, increase the insulin and watch her until this evening when we pick her up.

I did ask him about the corn based food and he said he will talk to the other vet about blue buffalo and he said the Hills w/d is the "prescribed" diet, but he understood my concern about feeding a corn based food to a diabetic.
He said he will call BB and Hills and find out if they're comparable and that he agrees with the "whole food is better" approach.

Dottie, I'm so happy this is turning out decently. Obviously it's not the best outcome, but so much better than it could be.

Thank you. It's been a rough 5 days not knowing if she was going to come home or we'd have to say goodbye
But she's a trooper!
She had such a rough puppy-hood (SPCA puppy, parvo, red mange, all kinds of problems) and has been perfectly healthy for the last 10 years, this was a real shock.

After yesterday's DD, the scale gave me 224 this morning *blech*. I must be patient because of the extra carbs that have been added in. Today is UD and it's a bummer that tomorrow is the 4th and it's DD for me! Somehow I need the strength to be disciplined and successful.

You will be! Sorry about that water weight gain but I've experienced upward bounces much larger than that. It will go.

Do keep this in mind: You can eat all the way up to 50% (maintenance level) tomorrow and still be having a DD. Don't make yourself miserable, Hon, OK? It will all work out. On the other hand, surprisingly sometimes when you allow yourself to have the cushion of those extra calories, you will find you are not that hungry and don't need them anyway.

Keep everyone posted about how it goes tomorrow.

Bronwyn when I first added some carbs back in I completely lost a TOM whoosh which I would equate to about 5 lbs. Its just water! It might take another week to start seeing losses but you will, I promise. Just make sure to keep your up days high and your down days low and its as simple as that. You know how hard I have struggled to lose weight and now I'm dropping rapidly so just stick with it and I know you will be rewarded.

Thank you Yam-Yam and Brew for your wisdom! I had a great UD yesterday at 2075 and hope to keep today as low as possible. Despite the coconut oil and all the water I've been drinking, I'm constipated again! Perhaps I should stay off the scale until my body figures this all out!

Tammy - I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Our pets are really family and it's so hard when they are gone. My heart is heavy for you.

Just a suggestion, but maybe you could temporarily add some magnesium to your diet. The magnesium relaxes the muscles in the intestines and it makes for a smoother ride through the intestines. And it attracts water and the additional water in the colon serves to soften the stool, helping it easier to get out. Constipation is no fun at all!!

For constipation, think - how many veggie servings are you getting in each day? If your water is good already, that may be the ticket. Exercise has been known to "keep things moving", but increase water to match.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I need to sit down and really go through all these posts and respond! DD finished at 548, which isn't too bad! I ate some sauerkraut with my 1/2 hot dog, so hopefully that will help alleviate my digestive clog! If things work out like I hope, then I will get on the scale in the morning.

When I was scrounging around my supplement shelf this morning I decided I had to deal with the mess and organize or something. I have a shelf in a kitchen cabinet and DH has a shelf also. His is not packed like mine. Took everything out and took inventory. Had multiple partial bottles of some so I took care of that problem. Tossed a few that I never take and who knows how long I have had them. I am real bad about forgetting to take anything. But I digress. Found a lot of things I could and probably should take. I even have alfalfa capsules. So I am now organized and can at least find the ones I need to take.

Then I made revolution rolls this evening so I can have sandwiches without wheat bread so I am good for a few days. Sat in the sun to get my Vitamin D, took my evening supplements and I am ready to call it the end of another successful DD. I just love this healthy lifestyle.

Woo Hoo Soren!!!

I am feeling great today too, despite a sore tummy from TOM.

I too hit a new low, by .2 of a pound but I'll take it. My lowest weight this year!!!

It's an UD today so I need to keep it in check and keep my eats all clean!!!!

I started this month at 5 pounds heavier than the beginning of last month. Yikes!!!

I knew JUDDD could work for me I just had to focus and follow the plan.

Luckily for me I have been following the plan and that 5 pounds is gone already and it's only the 5th . This just shows how forgiving JUDDD is, a couple good down days and we are back in business

Today is the first day of TOM so I'll keep that in mind when I step on the scale tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone!!!
