Popping to say that reading the past few days posts has been so uplifting.

So many happy Newbies. Lovely to see the new Newbies exited about their new choices.

And wonderful to see that special JUDDD support from newcomers and experienced voices.

I hope to be posting more regularly again soon. Meanwhile welcome and thank you all for the pleasure I got checking in.

The wise ones here said start higher. If 500 is doable, start there. If you lose happily there, stay there! You can lower it slowly later if you want to.
Norfolk, yay for the change in pants! It's hard to believe it when it happens, but it's fantastic, isn't it? I LOVED that part.
Last thing. I hear some of you say, I'll try this for a few weeks. I get that. I'm crossing my fingers, hoping you'll love it enough to stay a lot longer, because LOTS of the benefits of JUDDD show up over time. I've only been at it for 3-4 months, but I'm learning things now that are fabulous.
Welcome, everybody. It's great to have you here.

Hello everyone.

I have been lurking here for some time, researching and getting to know what JUDDD is all about. I have done some research on line as well, and I am very desirous to get started. Reading the many posts here have been very informative and enlightening. Just one thing however; I have noticed that it appears no other men are posting here, and the research I've done doesn't seem to exclude this WOE working for men.

Not that it will keep me from getting started, I'm just curious, does anyone know a man that has had success with JUDDD?

Hi threenails. Jamie and Ghostface both post here sometimes. I think the men are just not quite as verbose as we women are. Also, several of our spouses or significant others are doing JUDDD and losing well. We always appreciate hearing from the men!

WOE: Summer foods- back to UP DAYS/DOWN DAYS Oct. 1, 13
Start Date: 8-3-2012 UD
Good Morning to July starters....

3 Nails- Welcome. It is the weight not the gender I think.

Today is my first week full week but I found I began this WOE July 13, 2012 @ 192 lbs. HOWEVER I picked 185 to be my starting weight and re-began July 16th with that listing of 185. TOTAL LOSS AS OF TODAY July 24th the day after a DD is 188 for a TOTAL LOSS OF 4 lbs. and that is with stopping writing down my calories and also being pretty sure I was not low enough for DDs OR high enough for UDs and no exercise due to the extreme heat and no A/C.

NOW! I plan to and want OFFICIALLY (yet again) to begin on the 3rd of August 2012 and on the 3 rd (day my Soc. Sec. is deposited and life begins anew!) of each month will be weigh days. (I will weigh weekly on the day after a DD 6 or 7 or 8 days after the 3 rd of the month for each week of that month). I quit the journal after 3 days and will move it to the kitchen where I am more apt to make the counts.
I now need a new calories for the DDs and UDS with a 185 being the criteria and I also need a BMI which I have no idea how to get. birthday 9-30-1942 ht 5' 6" wgt 185 lbs. DAWN can you please, please help me again.
To have lost 4 pounds with the crappy way I did this program is just amazing and I am thrilled. My kitchen is now devoid of "trigger" foods and on the 3rd I will load up on the foods that will delish and a thousand times better suited for my new life style.
I plan to stay here and not go to the other sites but I will keep my long time site of "The Golden Years" as they are all dear friends since over 10 years years. I have to focus and cannot go everywhere and be able to do that.

Lainey-I was a little confused with the 188 & 185 weights. Is 188 your current weight? Either way, here what I come up with for your calories from the JUDDD calculator, and your BMI. Congrats on the 4lb loss!

BMI 185lbs 30
BMI 188lbs 30

JUDDD calories-185lbs
20% 1736 347
25% 1736 434
30% 1736 521

188lbs
20% 1746 349
25% 1746 437
30% 1746 524

Thanks Jan. Elaine, looks like you're covered. You also do NOT need to recalculate each time you lose a few pounds. Just use the same numbers until you stop losing. Some never have to adjust their calories.

Thank you so much Ladies.
I have started a new Journal- smaller more managable and moved to the kitchen.
I used the 185 model and that will be it for my #'s and %'s.
Since July 13th I found that the Lean Q. frozen meals helped me the most so I will stock up on those but I did notice that the "real" stouffers products were just about the same in counts for DDs. I have tons of tea that makes in cold water so I will be using that with the stevia everyday but I still have a lot of Crystal Light Lemon Ade to use up (I think the artifical sweetner is a trigger for me where the stevia does not seem to be) Needless to say DDs will be mostly non starch veggies with a eye to portions this time.
10 more days of trial time and list making till the big 3 of August 2012.
Thank you again Dawn and Jan.

Oh, I ment to ask- what is a BMI for say the 150 I want to weigh and would that change the #s and %s a lot? Just wondering. Thanks E.

BMI for 150lbs is 24. The calories for 150lbs would depend on the percentage you choose, but for maintenance at 55%(the middle range) it would be UD 1548, DD 851.

Thanks Jan, I copied and pasted and will print it out and place it in my journal.
Everyone here is just so terrific.
I will have to go to a market later or just eat some pp&j and strawberry jam on some celery to make my UD count for today.
I am panting to see AGTalent tonight as I am mad about that young man that sing in his Marachi Band. I even want to try to vote for him tonight but I am a total techno phobe and most likely will not be able to.

Today is an UD. I'm looking forward to all the delicious options!

It is interesting how a simple pleasure like that can keep us happy on our DDs. I still find this after all these month.

I will also try to keep this short. Having gone through paleo to paleo VLC to carb cycling, I think it may be time to try JUDDD. I have experiences with fasting before (with pretty good results) so I am hoping this gets me to my goals. I am not too concerned with scale weight because of how much I lift (olympic lifts- right now I'm on an overall strength cycle though so more power lifting). However I would like to lose about 7lbs of fat.
Today I am starting with a DD and planning on essentially fasting all day (however I am including coffee with heavy whipping cream).
I have been reading the JUDDD forum and all of you seem very supportive so I'm definitely looking forward to joining the community!

Just finished my first month on JUDDD. Total loss for the month: 13.2 pounds.

Also like to add...I've spent the previous 3 months on low carb. My last 4 weeks on low carb I posted a WHOPPING 0.8 loss. So I'm pretty happy with the 13.2 loss this first month. I hope it continues...but won't hold my breath. lol.

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks on JUDDD. Unless I miraculously lose weight tonight, I weigh exactly the same as the day I started. Hopefully the SIRT1 kicks in soon!
Yesterday should have been a DD, but I changed it to a MD because of dinner plans. Well, it turned into an UD. Today is looking like another MD, but I should be back on track with a DD tomorrow. I was surprised at how quickly I got full at dinner yesterday, if that continues it will be very helpful.

So I definitely did not believe y'all about having more energy to workout on dd's.... I just did 30 minutes of intense weight training after not having done any for AWHILE and I felt strong & GREAT! Since Im doing a set MWF DDs I think Im going to implement weight training on those days to reap the benefits, and do swimming on UD's since it makes me so hungry!! Love this WOE!!

Jan I know you wanted to say you had lost, but remember you have only dieted half the time, in fact a little less thanks to yesterday's DD/MD/UD happening.

I am sure you will soon reap the benefits of JUDDD rotations, you have already earned your stripes as a great support here on the Newbie thread. PS, did I tell you how I love that ticker?

Genevieve, how wonderful that you enjoy the DD exercise. I do too (when I am exercising which I am not currently, due to injuries). The nourishment we get on our UD just gives us such energy on the DD. Glad this is suiting you.

Day #3 and a DD and I am loving JUDDD! Started sunday at 189 down 4lbs so far and my UD yesterday didnt kill me weight wise and I had cake and ice cream! WOW so exciting. I was going to Low carb the whole thing but just didnt get much to eat during the day yesterday and got off late like 7pm so had to make a really high calorie (and delish) dinner, and Figured the cals out at the store on my ****** app and was almost 900 under so i got coconut cake and moose track ice cream. real ice cream lol. i expected to weigh a ton more today but was so surprised I was like 186.2 and all day long on my DD today it dropped back down to 185! On DD i dont eat until dinner, i would rather have a nice dinner than little stuff all day so I made a yummy ceaser salad i added cucumbers and baby bella mushrooms parm and ceaser dressing plus BF grilled chicken breasts. I had to cut mine in half though it was too big. i was fully satisfied and had 419 cal total and 7g carbs for the day. going to lo carb DD for sure. Sorry i am a rambler!!!

Yes, this is so great!
I'm so glad to be back on track. Yesterday was DD #3 and everything worked fine. Sunny UD today and I'm looking forward to guilt-free ice-cream.
