Barb, I hope you can tweak your schedule to accomplish all your goals.

Chewing gum - Extra Dessert flavors, particularly Chocolate Mint Ice Cream and Strawberry Shortcake. I can quell a not-really-hunger attack on a DD by popping one of these in my mouth and turning my attention to a project, tv show, etc.

Question for LC to JUDDD

Hi Everybody, Another one transitioning from LC to JUDDD! After reading many of JUDDD threads and Dr Johnson's book, I started JUDDDing at the beginning of June and am very happy with it. Thank you all for your input, it was very helpful! I log everything in an online calculator and it tells me 1200 cals/day but I do lowish carb (40-60g net) and high protein. Since I walk over 2 hrs 5-6 days a week, should I be upping my calories on Up days? I am worried, thinking I won't loose any weight and if I don't up the Calories am I losing muscle with the fat?

One of the great benefits of JUDD and any Intermittent Fasting WOE is that research shows it burns fat and preserves/builds muscle. Many JUDDers report being able to feel their muscles, legs becoming more defined, etc. even w/o exercising. Cool, huh? I'll let someone else answer the calorie question.

jdforshort, although I'm hoping someone else will come in to discuss your question in terms of low-carbing, I can tell you that I ignore anything my online food calculator says about calories needed and pay attention only to the JUDDD calculator for calories. You know your level of exercise best, so if you are concerned, then consider a change on the activity/exercise portion of the calculator. LOVE Yam Yam's mention of muscle preservation with JUDDD. happy happy

Barb, yes, it's a heavy dollar-investment to pay but it's worth it for the benefit, so I'd say, invest! Funny, it's summer so I think of the ice cream and strawberry flavors, not apple pie. My brain has decided they are cooler sticks of gum, I guess.

Tina, I have a similar hope and am increasing my waistline-specific exercises, too.

Jdforshort - I'll chime in because this subject interests me. Some JUDDDers don't recommend "eating back" your exercise calories. However, since you have the book, read page 156 where Dr. J. addresses this. But first off 1,200 calories can't be the correct UD amount for your stats. What does the calculator compute for you? Did you get your UD/DD calories yet from the Alternate Day Diet calculator?

JUDDD
The dessert gums are all I chew. My fave's are Apple Pie and Creamsicle. The Strawberry Shortcake is really good, as well a's the Key Lime one. I don't really care for the chocolate mint. The newest one I found is Root Beer Float...I think that one will need to grow on me a bit. But I've always got at least 2 flavors in my purse all the time.

Can you tell I really love this gum? Lol!

I haven't seen the Rootbeer float! I don't think we have that one here yet. I might actually like DD even more with all these chewing gum choices! DD's really do help one appreciate the little things.
