Whats everyone's usual DD dinner

Hey Juddd Budds

I was wondering if some people's dd dinner is generally the same?
I normally have a salad with a small can of chicken breast and balsamic vinegar. Its what i have been having since i started which has been a few weeks now. Its getting a little boring.

Hey Mitsa! I have started saving most of my calories for dinner, yesterday I had a DD and had 2 turkey patties 320 cal, and lettuce with 1 tbs dressing, 40 calories. Then on the DD before that I made me an eggwhite omelette with tomato salad, that came in at less than 200 cal. Still experimenting!

a lot of days mine is stir fried veggies with shrimp thrown in. Or if I want to heat the over up, roasted veggies and talapia (my fav fish)

or... a salad with shrimp, or.. miracle noodles with stir fried veggies, or spaghetti squash with spag sauce and some parm cheese...

the possibilities are endless....

Im sure others will chime in here as well as they are more seasoned than i.....

Hope that helps a bit....

Mitsa, I love the shirataki stir fry thing, adding egg or tuna or chicken. A big bowl of spicy noodles hits the spot for me late in the day.
Also love salad.
Also love the stir fried cabbage thing.
Volume and protein seem to be the DD keys for me.
Thanks for this thread. I'm looking forward to expanding my menu!

I pretty much always stick with chicken, because it keeps me very full. I switch up the flavors/sauce each time, so it doesn't get boring. I actually eat my main meal lunch time, when I'm fininshed with it, I've had about 300-350 calories.

I'm with Keira!

Lately it's been one of the following and with Summer heating up I won't want anything HOT!

Wendy's small chili
Luna bar
Smoked ham w/ mustard & pickles

I found a great looking tuna salad recipe on HG this morning...here it is and it's COLD!

Fiery Tuna Salad
1/4th of recipe (about 3/4 cup): 113 calories, 2g fat, 580mg sodium, 10g carbs, 1g fiber, 4.5g sugars, 15g protein -- PointsPlus« value 3*

Ingredients:
1/2 cup fat-free mayonnaise
2 tsp. Tabasco Original Pepper Sauce
Two 5-oz. cans albacore tuna in water, drained and flaked
1 cup seeded and chopped cucumber
1 cup seeded and chopped tomato
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped jarred jalape˝o slices
2 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro

Directions:
In a medium-large bowl, thoroughly mix mayo with hot sauce. Add tuna and stir to coat.

Add all remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover and refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour. Serve and enjoy!

MAKES 4 SERVINGS

Lately, since zucc/squash are in season, I grill up those, put them on lettuce with some light dressing and cheese. It has been a yummy change for me.

Wendy's is a fast food restaurant in the U.S. I'm not sure if they're international or not. Their small chili is 210 calories. It's very filling and tasty.

I think that when Dawn fills out census forms, and they ask what your religion is, she checks the box that says Wendy's Chili.
I'm going to try it this week. It's time to see the light.

lol!!

My usual is cheesy bacon chicken & cabbage:

Cook up 3 slices of RF bacon. Remove from pan and chop. Fry up 2 cups of cole slaw mix in the bacon grease, and add 2 pinches of dry minced onion and 2 good shakes of mrs. dash onion/herb mix. Once it's good and fried, I add back the bacon and some chopped Perdue short cuts chicken, and mix in 1Tbls of Parmesan shaker cheese. Remove to bowl, top with an ounce of shredded Colby jack and nuke for 30 sec until the cheese is melted.

This is 268 calories (313 if I double the chicken). It is my number one most delicious DD meal of all and I get to have bacon on my DDs! WOOT!!

Great thread!!

I make a homemade chili with lean ground turkey and rotel tomatoes. It is about 170 cal for 4 oz on top of miracle noodles. Another fav is a one egg, 2 slices of bacon & tomato sandwich between leaves of lettuce. 200 cals

I'm with Monica with the squash and zucchini. My plants are loaded. I just cut them up, boil, add a little spaghetti sauce and eat. I can eat a LOT of squash for dinner for very few calories. Sometimes I will sprinkle a little of the canned parmesan cheese on top. So lately my DD dinner (if I am not fasting) is just the above.

I'm an egg eater. My next-door neighbor supplies me with fresh, organic eggs, and I eat them every DD now. I fry or scramble one with 1/4 cup of egg substitute to keep the calories down, and eat it with a chopped up mozzarella cheese stick and a few sprays of the 0 cal I Can't Believe it's Not Butter. Then I usually follow that with a 100-calorie package of microwave popcorn. For me, it just hits the spot.

I either grill a chicken breast to have with a plain salad (no dressing, typically) OR I have a frozen dinner. It's getting to be more of the latter. I am just plain tuckered on DDs so I don't have the energy to cook and then clean up after. Unfortunately, that means my family gets something "quick and easy" also. But I've found it easier to manage the portions using a frozen dinner. (I'm not really a frozen dinner kinda girl so it's weird for me that I'm doing that...but it seems to be working)

I'm really trying to cut back since I found out they use soybean oil! It's hard though. Wendy's chili just might be my version of ice cream or candy or something. Not that I binge on it, but it is a staple.

OMG! I have been dying to tell you that I couldn't bear to go into Wendy's now. The reason? My office used to be in the Student Union which had the food court in the basement, every day for 10 years, we had lunch at either Wendy's, Chic Fil A, or Quiznos. There was a Chinese FF, SBarro Pizza and a Taco Mayo as well, I just rarely rotated these into the mix. I just can't make myself eat Fast Food ever again. And I use to have the chili especially in the winter!

One more great DD meal, that I have had and will have sometime soon!

4 oz Lean Roast Beef grilled w/ onions, zucchini, portebello shrooms and asparagus. 275 calories and it is unbelievably satisfying!

I do one of 2 things:

1) big green salad with no cal/no carb dressing. We're talking about a good 4c of lettuce, and maybe some other veggie, like a bit of onion or grape tomatoes. Then I go for the protein-- either chicken breast, sometimes chicken thigh, maybe leftover fish, or even pork loin or beef flank is pretty low cal also.
I shoot for between 5-7 oz, as I find that a good filling amount, and I do save most of my DD cals for dinner.

2) if I don't do the salad, I do either stir fried or steamed veggies-- a bag of coleslaw for 100cal, or broccoli slaw or "stir fry" veggies for the same count. If I skip the oil, I can add 1/2c of tomato sauce for 50 cal. Then protein, same or probably less than above b/c of the extra cals in the veggies.

sort of boring, but just enough variety to be ok. I can do "fun" stuff on my UD.

I usually plan for a post-dinner snack, either frozen or liquid almond milk (40 cal per cup liquid, or 55cal for 4oz of my frozen version).
