Another reason to love Juddd
Many have written on the boards that they have continued to lose even on maintence.
So I did a little math. My maintence numbers are 300 cal DD and 1,850 UD. These are divided up in the way that makes me feel the best.: This averages my calories at 1,050 per day.I went to three difference sources to find out what my daily reccomended calories would be to maintain my current weight of 118 lbs. the highest number came from a source I trust, The Americam Cancer Society. Source #1= 1,609 cal per day Source #2= 1,475 cal per day Sourcec#3 = 1,433 cal per day We averaged out the three and the average reccomended cal per day =1,505 To maintain at 118 lbs 1,505 cal x 7 days (1week) = 10,535 calories 10,535,cal x 4 weeks (1month) = 42,140 calories. Stay with me ![]() You need a 3,500 deficit to lose one pound of fat. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I eat on Juddd 1,050 per day x 7= 7,350 cal per week 7,350 per week x 4 = 29,400 cal per monthThe 42,140 cal per month I should eat to maintain 118 lbs on a regular daily diet minus the 29,400 cal per month that I do eat on Juddd = a deficit of 12,740 calories 12,740 cal divided by 3,500 =3.64 lbs lost per month on maintence ![]() ![]() ![]() :jump joy:![]() ![]() We are eating less than the reccomended calories for maintaining our new lower weight yet it seems like we are getting more food. This is why many have had to go above their calculated calories in maintence to stop losing. Really I have yet to find a reason worthy enough to tweak this dream of a woe. Just some zero cal food for thought. I hope I didn't mess up and make this all confusing as math is not my strong suit. We found the holy grail ![]() ![]() ![]() Vanessa ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Muffabuff; 06-21-2012 at 01:34 AM.. |

Muff, your maintenance JUDDD DD number is too low. 300 calories/day is really a DIETING number. Let's say that you raise it to 800 cal/day (43% of your UD), you'd be eating 15,000 more calories/month; your deficit of 12,740 cal/month would vanish.
I'm contemplating a move to JUDDD for maintenance as well but realize that I'm going to have to tinker with my DD intake to prevent continued weight loss. At the start, I'll probably shoot for around 1800/900. Good Luck, |

Yes, Vanessa, I had a feeling about this! You are losing instead of maintaining.
Even at 40% I am losing with/ 700 cal DD part of the time. It is the JUDDD way! ![]() |

No, I actually spoke to Pat about this before I went to maintainence. My maintence calories are about seven hundred something for DD and fourteen hundred and something for UD. I don't feel happy eating that low on UD and 300 DD are ez for me. So I moved the extra DD calories to my UD. I am still eating the same exact number of daily calories this way as I would be if I had not moved around my calories. I would still have the exact same monthly calorie deficit either way. Do the math you will see it doesn't matter which day you eat the calories on as long as you maintain the appropriate calorie spread. I don't mind losing more if I do. I was simply explaining was so many continue to lose on maintaince. I could never lose above 300 calories on DD. If I don't want to lose anymore I will simply add to my DD.

Not budging, those damn scales.
![]() You know Vanessa, the thing is, and im sorry if i offend anyone, its not my intent, but can only word this one way. Here goes-- i have never in all my adult life had to consciously lose weight- EVER. Now i find i have to put all this energy into it. Tells me just how much i took for granted. ![]() I have put on these 9-10kg because of Graves disease (overactive thyroid). This is my 3rd dose of it, first was in 1996 and i was extremely underweight and not healthy because of the weight id lost. I was frail and gaunt. Then in 2007, i got it again after my 3rd child was born, again i lost a little weight from a top weight of 46kg, quickly rectified with meds to bring thyroid levels back down and all was well. In Oct 2011, again... this time my appetite was ravenous all the time, hot and sweaty all the time. Problem this time round was the appetite had increased heaps but the metabolism had not quite reached it and so i started gaining weight from the extra calories i was eating. Also around 18 months prior to the last episode, my husband and i seperated and my world caved in. I was never a massive eater and pretty much lived on coffee and cigarettes, i dropped from 46kg to 43kg. Who says starving doesnt work ? It was the best id ever looked. lol. Actually i wasnt hungry AT ALL. Im thinking that didnt help me with metabolism because as i started to eat, the weight packed on and then thyroid topped the cake. I do have a pair of jeans that were slightly hanging off me then, i will try them on over the weekend and see how they fit. They became extra tight since January this year so looking forward to see how they fitting. ![]() I did eat today (ud) not sure how much exactly as i was out most of the day but not a salad or vege in sight today. ![]() Last edited by Mitsa; 06-22-2012 at 05:26 AM.. |

Mitsa, I am so sorry!
Graves and hashimotos seem to be the scariest of the thyroid ailments. My best friend's mother had to have her thyroid removed due to Graves. I know exactly what you are going through. ![]() Do you have a good endocrinologist? |
