UD and soooooo sick!!!

Not only am I sick but 2 of my kids are home sick too. My issue is I don't feel like eating at all (can't taste anything due to my stuffy nose, though nose spray is helping), I don't want to mess with my rotation but food just seems so UGH today....ice cream sounds good though! :D

KeirasMom 06-07-2012 05:48 AM

1700 calories of ice cream then! :hyst:

I hope you feel better soon!

PixieKGirl 06-07-2012 05:53 AM

:goodpost: Or a giant milkshake!

Hope you feel better soon!

:laugh:I actually looked at the ice cream we had in the house, it's 140 cals per 1/2 c serving and there are 12 servings in the carton....so the whole thing is just under 1700! too bad there is only 1/2 of it left. :annoyed:

I may do that one day, just have a whole 1/2 gallon of ice cream! :yummy:

I had a coffee and a 100 cal ice cream sandwich and feel a bit better (cold meds are kicking in too).

I know you don't want to mess with your rotation but I don't think it's necessary to force yourself to eat when you're sick. The metabolism doesn't slow down until at least 48 hours into a fast...and that might not apply during illness. I doubt the body would "slow down" while there's an infection to fight.

Ooh, I just found this on Livestrong:
"When you become sick, your metabolism does not slow down; it actually speeds up to fight off the illness."

During the fasting state, our bodies seem to use nutrients more efficiently, so you may actually get better more quickly if you don't eat much; plus your body can turn its energies towards healing rather than digestion.

I know you're probably joking about eating that much ice cream...but sugar can impair the immune system. If anything, I would try to have protein shakes instead, or make a milkshake with the ice cream but add protein powder (and raw eggs, if you're okay with them).

Maybe chicken broth or soup will sound good later on?

I really hope you and the kiddos feel better soon!!! :hugs:

I did manage to get almost all my calories in, I still have 400 to play with for supper. I didn't pig out on ice cream...though it was tempting!

It will be a Nyquil night tonight for sure! UGH!!!
