I'm hungry
Sorry, I had to put it out there. If I said it irl, I would be told to eat and 500 calories is unrealistic. I have to keep my mouth shut about my woe but I know I can shout it out here. I'm on my first dd and I know it will get better but I just have to complain this once. And today had to be the day my mom sent home a lemon meringue pie. Grrrr. I am so ready for tomorrow.

Jennifer- my first couple of down days were the hardest too. Just hang in there. Drink water, tea, or herbal tea and think about tomorrow. The pie will be there for you TOMORROW

Yup, first week was a nail biter. I used all the tips (water, lemon, coffee, shirataki, gluc, late start, early bedtime, naps, activities) suggested. They helped. The nice thing is that you're building something with each hour of each DD.
It gets MUCH easier. |

Completely understand. I know it definitely took me more than a few DDs before I started figuring out what kinds of food to eat and when/how often to eat on a DD to curb my hunger. As others have said, it will get better.

Scream and yell and shout as much as you want. And have a glass of water and a nice salad to celebrate.

I just "get through" my DDs. I don't love them like some people say, I don't feel good about them, but on those days I always think about the day to come. still haven't found what to eat that doesn 't make me crazy.
But, after I get through that DD, on the UD, I am really not hungry and I feel superior that I have DONE IT. I try to remember that it is a DIET but I am only dieting every other day. It's not easy. But it is easier than other ways.... I am not going to tell you it gets easier, it doesn't, for me, at least, but I don[t want to gnaw off my arm any more... It's worth it. I like being able to eat what I want every other day. You can do it. I KNOW it.

Hey Jennifer, today was my first down day, too. We can get through this together...I'm finding that I'm going to have to do more planning on how I'm spending those calories. I had one thing planned for supper but decided it would be too much, so had to make a pot of soup. I'll have a big bowl tonight and freeze up the rest for the rest of the week. I've been a low carber for a long time so try to rely too much on the protein, it will be a big change for me.

Jennifer....To quote Mary..."Keep your chin up and remember tomorrow is another day...an UP DAY." This ONE thought was the single biggest help to me throughout my WL journey...because I was another one who wasn't crazy about DD's!!! It still helps me in maintenance too!!! YOU CAN DO THIS. I look forward to seeing your success.

This is the GOOD thing about JUDDD. You CAN have a piece of that lemon pie - TOMORROW.
Tomorrow it will be "fair game", not off plan, not a "cheat", simply something you'll make room for in your UD calorie allotment. And trust me, it'll taste a WHOLE lot better TOMORROW when it's OK for you to eat it than it will if you cave today. Promise! ![]() Hang in there, OK? You've gotten very good advice. The first couple DD's can be very challenging... but anything that is worth something is worth putting some effort into, yes? The pie can come out... tomorrow! ![]() |

Thank you everyone. I made it! I went slightly over because I had some chicken broth with siracha (mmm..siracha) when I felt beyond peckish. And I've already packed my lunch tomorrow with the lemon pie. :-). When I did juddd in the past I would plan huge meals for the next day and somehow never went crazy. I was never as hungry as I thought I would be. I hope that's the case tomorrow. Thank you all for being here. Reading through all your posts have kept me from losing my mind.
