my scale...
ahhhhhhh !!!
I wake up after a DD, rather high-ish DD. go to the bathroom and step on the scale : 59.8kg lowest in a year!! (little danse of joy involved) I dress, start the day and go back to the bathroom... after i'm done (I know, TMI...) I think i haven't had breakfast yet so i should step once more one the scale... and then 60.4 !!! I moved the scale around the bathroom floor, tried many time but it wouldn't move.... I think my scale is mad at me, somehow ! I've always been so gently when i step on her ! (in french scale is a feminin word...)

I am ignoring mine for a while as she didn't agree with me one day. That will teach her.

Accurate scales are essential. The last set I had over read by 3lb most of their life and then suddenly under-read by 6 lbs. Threw them out and bought a proper set that cost a lot but are worth every penny (cent) because they weigh you to the last 0.1 of a pound and say the same thing no matter how you stand on them or where you set them down.
Cheap scales can set you on the path to serious weight gain. |

My scale and I have declared a cease fire this weekend. I have promised her not to come too close, and she has stopped calling me names from the next room. When we are both feeling a bit more cooperative and rational and calm, we'll have another go.
Know what's funny? To see how much of the stress on this board comes from the numbers on a scale. You don't see a lot of posts about, oh god, my clothes are tighter this morning, or, oh, I'm feeling worse and worse on this JUDDD diet. No way. (why? Because JUDDD seems to work for most of us.) Most of the struggling posts are about why the number is up or the same or not falling fast enough, how can I make that change, etc. Big clashes between our expectations of how it should go and how our bodies are actually doing it. Isn't that nutty? ![]() Once again, in my dream of dreams, we'd all be doing JUDDD with no scales in sight except when a wise and friendly JUDDD fairy knows that today's number will make us swoon with happiness. Hope you're swooning today ![]()

My personal bathroom scale is a tricky little $&@*%#! in a good way....if I don't like the number I see I move the scale 3" further away from were she was sitting and presto, I lose 3 pounds!!
The scale at Weight Watchers (I still go to get weighed weekly) is a bit harder to reason with! That scale tells the hard to digest (sometimes) truth and doesn't sugar coat it either! |

I may be old school OA but I will only weigh once a month, at the same time of day on the same scale!! There is too much daily (AND hourly!) variation.

Thank you ladies
I see everyone has issues with the scale !!! Mine is supposed to be good (it was not cheap!) but the bathroom floor is definitely not flat !! that might explain ! as JoyJoy said the funny thing is that "numbers" is the only thing we complain here about ! I forgot to tell you that i bought a pair of slim bright turquoise pants last week and they're a size 8 !! (and really strechy but who cares !!) anyway, after the UD i'm having right now i will definitely not pay a visit to the scale (we should name it !) tomorrow ! |

I too have a scale that sometimes tells me I weigh more after I go to the bathroom!!!
![]() If she tells me a weight I don't believe, I step on her with a 5lb weight, step off, put the weight down, and step back on. It seems that she doesn't register changes less than a pound. If I weigh with sandals and then without, for example. But the 5-lb weight seems to make her wake up and pay attention! ![]() I'm going to have to call her a name I really don't like, ha ha! Like a girl that an old boyfriend left me for or something like that. ![]()

Great result LacyLady!
Annie, it think the thing we have established here is that without any doubt the scale is female. |

My scale is testy too. I can weigh and get a great number then weigh again and it's higher, weigh again and it stays higher. Ugh. Sometimes I just stash the darn thing - out of sight out of mind! It's better than making myself crazy over it all!

I weigh, AT MOST, once a week and then sometimes I forget to do that. I like JUDDD, and have had success. I don't enjoy the number on the scale causing me issues, so I get on there just to get a check on how things are going!

In OA I was told to weigh ONCE a month, on the same scale at the same time of day. I'm trying to work OA/GS and after two weeks made the mistake of weighing at night, after dinner and 2 liters of H20. Boy, was I bummed when it showed I only lost 7 lbs!
Learned my lesson! |

My scale is not being remotely cooperative at the moment - but you know - even though I am not (cough) being perfect with my rotations - my body is changing all the time!!
I put on a jumper (sweater?) dress that I bought a month a go and haven't had an opportunity to wear yet - well, it was tight then - it's almost too big now! Scale hasn't budged!!!! |

I threw my old scales away last year and paid a lot for a proper accurate set. It's worth every penny.
At the death they were under-reading by 6 lbs!!! That's when my weight gain started. I know it's a crude approach to measuring fat loss but it's the one that gives us the discipline to stick to the plan. After learning I'd put on half a stone I sort of gave up caring. |

Remembered your post and logged on this morning to see what kind you had that bounced. Yup!!! Mine's a Walmart Health O Meter. Going out today to get a WW one or better? I bet there's one that will measure 1/10th a pound. Oh good, that will make me even crazier than I am now. ![]() |

Thanks Adi. Yeah, I've been looking at the online reviews of scales this morning and the Tanita HD357 has one of the highest ratings.

I thought I'd just chime in here, b/c I'm rather peeved at "her" today as well. I have a tanita and usually, everything is fine, I really like it.
I know that if you live by the scale, you die (figuratively) by the scale too-- so, as Kristin said above, I think I'll take a 1 week cease fire/truce, and see if we're feeling more like agreeing next week ![]() S. |
