Yesterday I hit a promising little milestone...

I weigh at night before I go to bed (no scolding, please! This way I am somewhat prepared for the morning number!).

I've been weighing 271.something-273.something for weeks & weeks...one time back on May 14, 270.8...but never under 270...

Last night was 269.2!!! And I had pizza for lunch, then popcorn and M&Ms at the movies!!!
(Yes, yesterday was supposed to be a DD. But ds left on a 2-week camping trip today, so we had some treats & went to the drive-in. )

I had to take him to his grandpa's at 4:30 this morning. I had a big bacon breakfast when I got home (I've been planning that for a few days...got some lovely sweet tomatoes that have been singing to me about putting them in a bacon sandwich lol) and have only had tea & lemon since. Will fast/eat lightly until lunch tomorrow.

I think I will use this day to go back to my "MUDDD" schedule. When I re-started JUDDD in March, I resolved to do it "right".
But lately I haven't made it through a DD without around 1000-1200 calories (before you , that is 45-50% for me!).
I've just been off since my car accident.
With MUDDD, at least my 2-day calorie average should be lower.

lol look at what Hobbes typed:
Quote:
i0909090909090909090909090909090909090909090909090 9090909
I wonder if that's some sort of binary kitty code?!!!

Jenny! That's great news. Don't you love it when kitty helps you type? My new kitten does that too. I work from home and she tries to chat to my co-workers and also tries to transfer my calls! I just love my pets!

Aw!!!

I was actually just about to write you because I haven't been able to get Hobbes to eat any solid food for a few days. I was giving him cooked egg yolk mashed with formula, but he suddenly lost interest in it--would lap up the liquid but left the solid food behind, lol. One day he stole a bit of my liver pâté lol. But he doesn't "get" canned or dry cat food at all!

However, I just cooked some ground beef and he went mad!!! Meowing (which he never does, unless we're in another room & he can't find us) and trying to climb up my legs!!! So I took out a little before I added salt or anything to it, mixed it with formula, and he loved it! I hope that's okay...what do you think?

He is probably getting the nutrition he needs from the formula so it is good he is getting that. Will he eat canned food mixed with the formula or ground up dry food mixed with the formula? Is he gaining weight?

Kissa, love and hugs to your and your dh and family on the passing of your FIL. Even when it's expected, it's still sad.

Had a good doc appt today. Cholesterol has dropped 40 points since Jan (from 227 to 187). I was VERY happy to see that. Likely a combo of JUDDD and eliminating the allergy foods from my diet. He didn't have a problem with the calorie cycling of JUDDD, but did say he preferred I not fast till lunch. Since we are working on healing my adrenals, and fasting makes your adrenals work harder to produce cortisol so that your liver will release glycogen to keep your blood sugar stable. So I'll have a protein smoothie on DD mornings now instead of skipping breakfast. My inflammation numbers were up a little since we tested those in Feb. Not sure what's up there. But overall, very good news.

He won't eat canned or dry food at all, no matter what I do to it.
I think he might be about 6 weeks old now.
When he was eating the egg yolk, he would only eat about 1/4 of it and be full,
and I would feed him that much 2 or 3 times a day.
Today he ate about 1 tsp of cooked meat.

He was just under 9oz when I brought him home 2 weeks ago.
A couple days ago, he weighed 1lb 5oz!

He has plenty of energy and is both playful and cuddly!
So I'm sure he's getting good nutrition, it just would be nice if he'd start eating a little solid food. The other kittens from his litter do.
But he is quite a bit smaller than them (I took him home for a visit a few days ago).

Thank you!

What good news, Tina! I had no idea about the skipping breakfast / adrenals thing. I've considered I might have some adrenal fatigue going on but I am not willing to start eating breakfast. I went so long thinking I had to and so I did even though I preferred not to. Now that I'm back to never eating breakfast it's easy to stick to my calories.

I need to jump back in here and keep up with all you maintainers. I'm coming up on my 1 year anniversary of losing the majority of my weight. Not only have I kept it off but I lost another 12+ pounds from my original goal of 134. I have lost a good deal several times over the years but never kept it off so this is huge for me. I managed the first 6 months of maintenance without JUDDD but finding JUDDD this year really changed things up and I'm loving it, even on DDs (well, most of them LOL). I think I can keep it off for good this time!

I hit a new low this a.m. at 119.6. Not trying to lose (I like staying around 122) but this is nice going into a week with lots of celebratory eating going on between a big church function, my b'day, the holiday and yet another bbq at the end of the week...at least everything is falling nicely into an ud/dd rotation.

Tina, I'm so happy for you on your excellent news. What did you weigh in January, at the last cholesterol reading? Sounds like you were really on the mark eliminating certain foods, too.

vanilla, I hope you continue healing and are feeling up to par soon.

adi, I've been trying to remember to tell you how much I enjoyed seeing your new photo. Do you have all Saanens or other breeds as well? I had two Saanens during the late 80s, along with a pet Alpine/Nubian cross. No real explanation for why - older stock we agreed to take in declining years as pets. Did so much "landscaping" work!

KathyL, you have a wonderful maintenance report. I wish I'd come in and chatted more about mine. I finally came back with a problem instead, having regained some with family upheaval, which I needed to lose. I'm taller than you and I notice you had an original goal and then lost more. I'm thinking of readjusting my original goal downward, too, so it's good to see that you have had this success. Congratulations!

Kathy, good to hear all is going well with you. I've been wondering. If I have an almond milk/Sun Warrior protein shake, it's only 104 cals, and really does keep me full till lunch, so I think I can make it work. I got used to waiting till lunch, and liked it too. But I'll try this for a time and see how it goes. Excellent job on maintaining for so long!

Whitlin'-in Jan, I was 132. My original goal was 130, but even with JUDDD it took me about 4 weeks to get there (I had a lot of healing to do first). Then in Feb I was diagnosed with my food allergies. Took some time off to adjust to the changes, and then decided to adjust my goal down to 125, which I reached at Easter. Been maintaining since then. I have had times I've bounced up a few pounds due to life activities, but JUDDD always helps me get back to goal within a few days.

Hi Jenny,
Since he is doing so well gaining weight, it sounds like he is getting the nutrition. If he is about 6 weeks old, he would be due for his first shot now. I would let the vet know that he isn't eating solid foods yet and see what they think after checking him out.

We have a new foster cat from the humane society - she is pregnant and is due in a few weeks. We will keep her and the babies until they are least 8 weeks old and 2 pounds. She is so sweet and I am so excited to have kittens in a few weeks!

Yay kittieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesss!!!!

Thanks for the advice, Tammy!

Congrats on your results, Tina!!!
IDK if you remember, but a few months ago I discovered for myself that if I skipped breakfast, I'd have insomnia that night; but if I ate, I'd be able to fall asleep several hours earlier. That makes sense with the fasting/adrenal/cortisol connection.

Kathy!

A friend on my challenge thread said I needed a current picture so DH took one for me. My pants are so baggy it is hard to tell how much I have lost. As the day wore on my jeans got bigger and bigger. Guess I'll have to go buy new ones since I don't think I have another pair a size smaller.

Thanks all.
I finished June the exact same weight as I started on June 1. June was my 6th month and I contemplated doing maintenance for June and I guess I really did.
Anyway, no gain so all is well.
My new calories for my weight at 20% loss is 324/1619. Time to reduce those UD calories it seems.

I love the picture Adi! My kids only get to see animals if we go to the zoo or a farm that's near by. They don't ask to go to the amusement park or the waterpark near as much as the farm. They just love the animals. And last time we were so lucky to go the day 2 baby goats were born. It was so fun to see how the mom and babies interact.

At our state fair in Dallas, they have a very large farm animal exhibit. (also some exotics mixed in) You can buy feed and feed the animals and watch and pet from outside the pens. They always have rotating Nigerian Dwarf and/or Pygmy goat expectant mothers who give birth while on exhibit. It seems to be one of the most popular things around. No admission and if you don't buy feed it is free entertainment. I know my friends and I always go watch the animals when we are at the goat show and we see goats everyday. But not some of the others animals so we get educated too. Love to watch the city dwellers fascination with the animals. We are so lucky to be able to live and work in a rural area and enjoy our animals.

On the animal front, we strolled through a lovely park this morning and saw no fewer than 9 peacocks doing the full display! And one of them was white. I have lived in India and seen them all over the world, but this was just breathtaking. Such a privilege.

I think peacocks are beautiful. Have never seen a white one though. Our coutry neighbors years ago had some and they sure can make some strange sounding noises. And loud too.
The zoo we used to take DS too when he was a little boy, had a flock (guess that is what a group of them are called) that roamed around free. Loved to watch them.

Well, I just had to go look that up, and it's a "muster" of peafowl!!!
(peacocks=boys, peahens=girls, peachicks=babies)

Or a pride or ostentation!!!

Oh, I don't know if these are real, but way too cute:
A rhumba of rattlesnakes
A lounge of lizards
A prickle of porcupines
A wisdom of wombats
....and my favorite:
A mischief of mice!

Yay, PJ, I love collective nouns.

A parliament of rooks
A murder of crows
A murmuraton of starlings
A scold of jays

Such fun.
