Moonbeam, welcome! The experienced folk will chime in soon, but it seems lots begin at 700 and work their way down ( or not, if they lose well at 700!).
Loose skin, I don't know about. Tree trunks, I do, and mine are shrinking!
Good luck this week. Enjoy!

I think there are several posts that someone more experienced could reference but if you are terrified of 500 start at 700 and work down. I jumped strait in at 380 and discovered it not as bad as you think it will be. I try to push my breakfast back as far as I can and eat lots of veggies. My life saver has been miracle rice which I put cheese sauce on and it is like eating pure fiber, not hungry for HOURS. Do what works for you and JUDDD will work. That's what is so great about it.

Moonbeam - I started at 700 c for DD's and have now worked down to closer to 500c. My losses have been good, so I doubt I will drop lower than that. I use a range of 500 - 600c now for DD's!

WOE: Enjoying JUDDD's freedom after years of low carb
Start Date: Every day!!! JUDD start 1/13/12
Moonbeam I started right at my target-341- and have stayed there, rarely going above it by much. The reason I am chiming in on this is I, too, was a-skeered of that low number, but as it turns out, it's the UDs that are the problem!!

The discipline is there to stay low-all of us have been on low calorie diets-but it takes a while-for me it is still a work in progress-to figure out what to do with all those calories.

Hint-if you enjoy adult beverages, stay away!!

re: loose skin-it really depends on how old you are and how much you have lost. I originally lost 80 pounds, and have loose skin, but over the years has tightened up a bit-I am 65.5.

For loose skin after losing weight, research skin brushing, moonbeam.

Good luck with the new plans here - hope everyone learns something from their research.

Wow! I[m impressed with this WOE...after three DD's, I've lost 10 pounds. I know it will slow but that's okay. I'm really not finding DD's difficult and sticking to over my 330 but under the 500. Thanks for all your support, looking forward to hitting onederland next week....oh joy!

Thanks for the welcomes! I ended the day at 685 calories, and feel like I'm about to chew my arm off Looking forward to my up day tomorrow of 2235 calories. I'm wondering if I should subtract the 185 from tomorrow since I was over 500 today.

I am also craving the coconut bark. Has anyone tried to only eat coconut bark (up to their calories) on a DD? Seems easy to grab, but I'm worried about the lack of protein. The fat should be satiating though.

moonbeam, I would just put the day behind you, forget it since you were so close and look ahead to your UD calories tomorrow. If you happen to go under them, that's fine, but if you don't, no reason to obsess! It's all good! You'll probably be pleasantly surprised not to be extremely hungry when you arise tomorrow.

Mary in SoCal, I am just thrilled for you. How nice to think you have had such a good experience. When I was just started about at the point you are, I was carrying the book around with me and had probably read it twice. I was so impressed. Still am.

Dawn, how goes the kidney stone war? Feeling better?

Still warring, but it's manageable. Thanks for thinking of me.

I agree, Moonbeam, just count it a regular DD, have your normal calories for your UD and keep going. I also wouldn't try getting all my calories from CO bark on a DD, but I like to chew too much. You could try it and see what happens.

If you find fat to be satiating (some people don't), give it a try!
Someone recently mentioned her husband got most/all of his DD calories from MCT oil.
Have you ever done the Keckwick diet/Atkins Fat Fast? If so, a Coconut Bark Day shouldn't be too difficult.

PS: many DDs, I get most of my calories from light cream--coffee & cream, chicken broth & cream, maybe an egg or two. As soon as I try making low-cal salads, sandwiches, stir-fries, etc, I think how much I'd like to add cheese, mayo, peanut sauce...

Did better at controlling my Ud yesterday following Lean for Life protocol. Only problem was the coconut bark. It just made me want more, more, more. Think I will drop the bark and use fullfat dressing on my lunch salad instead to get my calories up on UD's. .
On an egg kick for today's DD since there were 8 dozen in the frig this morning. Yikes. My hens need to slow down.
Water and more water today. I have started on my first quart. Goal is 64 oz in the morning and 64 oz in the pm.

I know what it is to have so many eggs, adi, the refrigerator space can hardly keep up. I am down to just a few hens now and our family's consumption is pretty well balanced with their production. That doesn't last long, of course, and we'll have to decide if we want chicks again next year. My hens are the main reason I have omelets so often. When we had a lot, I was feeding eggs to the dog (cooked, so she didn't know whence they came! LOL) and sharing with extended family.

Congrats to sweetlilac and moonbeam, both with their first DDs squared away.

That happened to me this morning. Only on day 2 (today my first UD) and the first DD wasn't too bad at all. Won't weigh in until Saturday morning. A little nervous that this amazing woe won't work for me. Fingers crossed.

sammycat, you'll get into the "swing" soon and learn how your body responds. Happy for you that things are going well. I guess everyone feels a little nervous. I'm an everyday weigh-er, so I never have long to wait on knowing what my scale knows, LOL, but once-a-week weighing gives the opportunity for some extra-happy news.

Gee, we have 3 posters who just completed a first-time DD - things are rocking.

I tried fat fasting on DD's (made cloud, bark) and discovered that fat is satisfying when it is attatched to protein.
Those small amts that I was allowed to consume made no difference in the way my empty stomach felt....like it might consume it's own tissue.

YMMV. Apparently some do well w it.

If you find you're not losing, check out your UD's and see if they might be too high or remove exercise.
Calculators seem to vary......

Whitlin - I usually sell eggs to my staff but they are all gone for the summer so I have no costomers. Little house doggie gets her scrambled eggs every morning. Might have to start cooking for the Livestock guardian dogs.

Mid morning and I am NOT hungry and it is a DD so I can easily make it until lunchtime. Knowing I will be having HB eggs makes me not have anything to look forward to so that is GOOD.

I decided to do a DD yesterday, my first since the car accident...
woke up yesterday at 273.4,
today at 268.2!!! New low!!!!!!!!!
Only by .4lb; last new low was 268.6, but I hadn't seen it since 5/26.
In fact, I hadn't seen anything under 270 since 5/26.
TOM arrived, then my scale went crazy and I had to start using an old one that seems to weigh me a bit heavier,
then the car accident with bruising, inflammation, and (I assume) water retention.

Weighing 268.2 on my Mean Scale...I wonder what my Nice Scale would have said?!

I weighed daily, but if that scares you, once a week after a DD seems to be popular. Well done.

Many of you have seen my post about my DD Vicky getting so much smaller even though her scales weren't moving, indeed many of you posted kind words there too. Thank you all.

Seeing her looking so good gave me just such a boost. It easy to become complacent when, like me, you are maintaining with ease.

But to see JUDDD working its magic even when she has had to juggle her rotations and struggle with so many changes in her life is just inspiring.

I sometimes forget how lucky I was to come across this WOE, it was pure chance.

Thanks Dr J and all you wonderful JUDDD BUDDDs.

I know exactly how you feel Kissa. I found JUDDD quite by accident too, and lately even feel a little guilt not being as supportive to everyone as I want to be. Life sure gets in the way sometimes. A HUGE part of me wants to be all "motherly" and hug and love on every single BUD, thrilled over their losses. Unfortunately, lately I feel more like I'm on the outer edges with my warmest wishes inside my heart! Love ya sweet JUDDD BUDD!!!....and a very special for Vicky!
