I went straight to the ER and got x-rays of my chest, neck, and jaw.
Everything checked out OK!!! And I am going to the doctor on Friday for a follow-up.

Thank you so much for all your good wishes!!!

I am doing really, really well considering I got hit by a dump truck!
Sleeping ok, able to take a shower, walk, talk, think straight (well...as straight as I ever think ), wash dishes, and--obviously--type!!! A friend of mine fell 30-40 feet out of a tree recently and I know how important these every day things are. Mostly I just feel like I overdid an upper-body workout at the gym!!!

I have moments of being very angry & depressed, but then it's overwhelmed by happiness that I'm alive & not paralyzed, I still have my face...all that good stuff!

I think the fact that my car sort of went UNDER the truck saved me from worse injuries; I didn't crash into anything really solid, IYKWIM. I opened my eyes and couldn't believe I wasn't bleeding or paralyzed--or dead!!! All I have is 3 massive bruises and sore neck/chest/arm/shoulder muscles--mostly from the seatbelt and airbag!!! Plus a little twinge in my neck which I hope will go away...but I don't even have a headache from all this!!! Unbelievable!!!
OMG, I am glad your alright!!!!! What a scary thing! I was only ever in one wreck that I was driving and it scared the begezzes out of me! Hope your pain goes away soon!

OMG pj, what a total nightmare! So pleased to hear you say that you are okay after a proper check up. But that car isn't taking you anywhere soon!

You did the best you could have done, Jenny, including how you reacted, getting the photo and getting to the ER. Looks like your front windshield remained in place, so that you didn't have any broken glass situation on top of everything else? If so that's a blessing, too.

Yes, you're right...the windshield didn't break! I don't have any cuts at all--a couple of small scrapes on my arm from the airbag, but even they didn't bleed at all.

In a way I think it's pretty darn cool, considering, you know--a DUMP TRUCK!!!

I have jsut learned first hand how stress can affect weightloss. I am a special ed director and we are losing some funding for next year and Ithought I had that covered until the feds announced MORE cuts and there is no way I can cover the latest reduction in funds without laying someone off. I am just sick about this and keep running numbers and cannot figure out how to keep everyone. Soooo I am up almost 5 pounds on the scale this monring after a DD. (which I had 365 calories). Plus I am having the stress related chest pains. (ended up in the Heart Hospital several years ago with the same thing so I know what it is).
BUT the good news is that my pants that I wore last week are looser than they were then even with the 5 pounds of whatever the scale is showing. Give me the strength to figure this funding crisis out without having to tell someone that they don't have a job for next year. Talk about being depressed........

Adi, so sorry to hear about this muck. It's so horrid to feel responsible and partially helpless. It's ridiculous to say this from such a distance, but I sense everyone is fortunate to have your brain and heart in the middle of a transition like this. All the best with it.

Perfectly said and exactly what I was thinking, too.

Adi, you are right about stress playing a part, and I think you'll have better overall protection from the effects of it with JUDDD.

Oh Adi, how difficult for you, as someone with a child who needed special ed, I feel so angry when there are more and more cuts, both for those in need and the wonderful people who devote so much love and energy in teaching them.

5lbs of stress weight is impressive though. We know it isn't 'real' but it is something we all need to remember.

Thanks to all that offered suggestions on whether or not to buy the book....it arrived today and I think it will be a big help. I really liked what Amazon did on the sample read for Kindle. Instead of having only the first ten or so pages which most books do, they had several pages from each part of the book, so I had a really good overview of it. Tomorrow will be my third down day, and it seems to be working already. Of course, the information contained in this thread has been a big help.../

Thanks again, Mary in SoCal

Like a bad penny

Here I am again! I missed you all so much and I miss JUDDD also. I am finally getting settled with new job still have a LOT to learn but feel not so stressed. Know that I keep trying each day gets better. So with that getting better I have to get me better also. So I have put on my calendar on my phone UD and DD and put *** on my phone front screen for easy tracking.

I thought I was ready to start back to JUDDD a few weeks ago as some of you remember, but I wasn't obviously, but I am totally ready to start back today. Feels almost liberating to have the feeling of being in control back again. I felt in control of my eating and moving toward my goal with JUDDD.

I will have to sit down tomorrow morning with my coffee cup and catch up with all the happenings of the wonderful JUDDDers.

UD today as it is my anniversary today 22 years . So also a good day to start back on JUDDD, then I will only have to remember one day

Only 20 days left til trip to Napa Valley... JUDDD will help me feel better and look better for that. I know I won't lose a lot or if any in that amount of time, but I will feel more in control.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone!!!

Monica, I am excited for trip I have never been to California. I am tagging along with my cousin as we are attending a wedding of the boy she was a nanny to 20 years ago. I am really looking forward to this trip. Was hoping ot have lost weight before it, but I am going to try to not think of that and concentrate on eating correctly and enjoy.

Thank you for the welcomes back, you are all the greatest! What support and kindness on JUDDD here.

I had UD yesterday and I counted most of my calories but not all, but I am diligent to count EVERYTHING on DD. Its not good that today is DD and I woke to my stomach already grumbling. I have had a slight sore throat all week and yesterday afternoon it got worse and I looked and I had white sores on tonsils. So I went to dr and she just looked in with light and said yuck and ordered me some medication and some cough syrup. Unfortunately the pharmacy was closed and I have to go get medication this morning. So that helps not to eat as too sore to Maybe the coughiing will be good stomach exercises..

Today was suppose to go do some work and then go grocery shopping, but instead I am just going to go get my medication and come home and relax. Maybe just do laundry at it is going to in the 90's today and humid, I can stay in the ac.

yummmm coffee ready!

I haven't been feeling well today. My back's been hurting for a couple of days, and I just assumed I overdid it. About an hour ago, my left kidney made it perfectly clear to me that I did not "overdo" it. I am passing a kidney stone. Grrr. I have been trying to remember the last one I passed and it's been at least 4 or 5 months. I usually pass one at least quarterly, so that's an improvement. Thank goodness for small favors I guess.

Mary in SoCal, that's great that you are enjoying the book. Btw, it isn't Amazon that makes the decision to show so much of the book as a sample, but the author's. Dr. Johnson is very generous to allow various parts of the book to be seen so people can make sure they want to buy! Some authors (or maybe it is the publishers) allow very little.

Oh, Dawn, I hope this is over soon! Drink SOOOO much water.

Hope you are over the coughing soon, Carla.

I have finally decided that I need more structure for my UD's. DD's are not a problem. I did really well on Lean for Life years ago and I know the program well. Easy for me to follow. So I am going to follow Lean for Life on UD's and add coconut bark to up the calories to the proper level for me. Maybe I can get into the habit of eating correctly on UD's just like I do on DD's.
Plus I am going to drop the Shirataki noodles for a month since according to my food diary, everytime I have them I do not go to the bathroom for 3 to 4 days and that is not ideal. TMI but I think that is causing me problems also.
Our garden is starting to produce so I will have fresh veggies and that will also help.
Off to have my breakfast. The Lean for Life way. This is an UD and I anxious to try my new idea out.

Let us know how it goes Adi. The DD are no problem for me either and I'm trying something new with my UDs too. I'm trying high fat/low carb. It's amazing how this woe gets you so in touch with what works for each persons body. Tweaking here and there.

Adi, oh no! I wonder if the shirataki might be doing the same thing to my poor GI tract! I've been trying to remedy it with all kinds of things but I'm eating truckloads of shirataki! Thanks for the idea.

Good morning! I posted in the newbie thread. I started with an UD yesterday, and today is my first DD. I'm afraid of the 500 cals, so I think I will have to start at 700 and titrate down. Is this a bad thing?

Looking forward to sharing success with you all!

ETA: I have a lot of loose skin from losing weight quickly in the past, especially on my stomach and thighs. Has anyone noticed this getting better as they get smaller? I'm happy to be in a siize 14, but a single digit is my goal, along with legs that don't look like tree trunks
