My goal for June is to be somewhere (anywhere) in the 180's by the end of the month.
6/1 - UD - 195.2 6/2 - DD - 193.2 - I ate my fill of watermelon on my UD yesterday and peed my head off as an expected result. I'm real good about drinking water so I have to wonder if the watermelon didn't give me an extra push. Dunno but not going to overthink it. 6/3 - UD - 191.6 6/4 - DD - 193.8 - Yes, I was craving and eating lots of salty stuff yesterday. 6/5 - UD - 193.0 6/6 - DD - 193.4 6/7 - UD - 191.4 6/8 - DD - 192.0 6/9 - UD - 189.0 6/10 - DD - 190.6 6/11 - UD - 187.4 6/12 - DD - 189.6 6/13 - UD - 188.4 6/14 - DD - 189.2 6/15 - UD - 187.4 6/16 - DD - 187.0 6/17 - UD - 186.0 - Weird to see an even number drop, got on and off the scale several times and it stayed the same, so it must be. 6/18 - DD - 187.2 6/19 - UD - 186.8 6/20 - DD - 188.6 - I know why 6/21 - UD - 185.8 6/22 - DD - 186.4 6/23 - UD - 184.4 6/24 - DD - 185.4 6/25 - UD - 184.4 6/26 - DD - 187.2 6/27 - UD - 185.6 6/28 - DD - 186.2 6/29 - UD - 184.4 6/30 - DD - 184.6 Note: I started JUDDD back in late March and have tracked my daily weight since that time. But up until the first of June, I never participated in this thread. The reason I decided to post to this thread was mainly for an example for new folks, to show what a bouncing ball looks like. I've been successful and want to encourage people. But I messed up a little bit. ![]() I goofed up in that I did not start off by posting my May 31st weight, my ending weight for May: 5/31 - 198.4 6/1 - 195.2 The first day of June I started off with a whopping 3.2 lb WHOOSH right off the bat. ![]() So. . . Ending weight 5/31 - 198.4 Ending weight 6/30 - 184.6 13.8 pounds GONE. Not linear, but GONE, nevertheless. ![]() Dieting only half the month. ![]() What I've learned this month: Heat and humidity will kick our butt with regard to water retention and weight loss. It didn't matter if I drank my weight in lemon water to try to help flush it and stayed strict to calorie limits and rotations, any day that I spent a good portion outside in the heat/sun meant the next few days I'd be pogo-sticking up and down the scale in very small increments. I saw this happen to others, too. But even though the scale showed miniscule losses/gains, I was still losing inches. I am now completely out of any pants that are too small (the ones I use as "progress pants"), and need to visit the thrift store today. My back fat and fat arms are also bidding me adieu. Truth be told, my 13.8 lb loss looks way more like 20. The clothes don't lie. My best to all! ![]() Quote:

This perfectly illustrates the error I was talking about on the How do you calculate your weight loss/gain for the month? thread. I had figured out that I'd lost about 20lbs in a certain period of time, but when I added up what I figured month-by-month it didn't match. Because I wasn't including what happened between the last of one month and the first of the next! ![]() Is it ok if I post this over on the other thread, as an example? |

SHeridan, thanks for starting to post here. I love analyzing the numbers of people that post a lot of data and had great success. a few days ago I already noticed your post and actually made a chart of your numbers to look at, I'll post it just because maybe it will be interesting/useful for someone else, hope you don't mind. if you do let me know and I'll edit to remove.

Charting with moving averages. Analyzing the numbers. Data. Huh.

Next step goal: 225
Goal for June: 230 Didn't make my goal for May. Ended at 2.6ish pounds down for the whole month....more than a little disappointing. 06/01: DNW - UD - Still a tad miffed at May so I didn't weigh this morning 06/02: 238.0 - DD 06/03: 238.8 - UD - I am making myself remember that I am down 12lbs total even though nothing's happened lately 06/04: 237.6 - DD - trying to drink lots of fluids as I seem to be retaining like crazy. Must lay off the salt 06/05: 237.2 - UD - woke up not hungry so kind of doing a DD until lunch or dinner today 06/06: 235.0 - DD - finally met May's goal! also came in about 500 calories under my UD yesterday...oops 06/07: 233.0 - UD - EXTENDED WHOOSH!!!! 06/08: 234.8 - DD - ugh...pizza apparently hates me 06/09: 235.0 - UD - sigh...guess it was too good to be true 06/10: 233.8 - DD - goodbye water weight! Hoping to make goal before hormones mess things up again 06/11: 235.2 - UD - sigh 06/12: DNW - DD 06/13: 235.4 - UD - huff 06/14: 235.0 - DD 06/15: 232.8 - UD 06/16: DNW - DD 06/17: 232.6 - UD - slow but I'll take it 06/18: 235.6 - DD - what the heck!?! I didn't even eat anything salty yesterday! 06/19: 234.2 - UD - ovulating...at least that explains the water weight 06/20: 236.5 - DD - Seriously? Maybe the humidity as well as ovulating?06/21: 234.2 - UD - it's looking like I'm only going to get one week a month to lose anything and 3 weeks to bounce around 06/22: DNW 06/23: 233.2 - UD - I can still see the water weight...my body seems to be refusing to let it go 06/24: 232.3 - DD 06/25: DNW - UD 06/26: 240.0 - DD - what the heck?!?!?! ![]() my DDs have been a little high, but still well within weight loss range and my UDs have been spot on! not feeling the love today06/27: 234.4 - UD - Holy cow that was a lot of water weight! Thanks Heather for the , I appreciate it!06/28: DNW - DD 06/29: 233.6 - UD - Looks like I'm not meeting goal again this month. Still, it's 5lbs gone. 06/30: 233.0 - DD |

haha! told you i was a nerd.i just started juddd inspired by experiences posted by regular people here. I read the book the other day and I must tell you I was not impressed with the book or his research really. I'm not saying there's nothing to this, but I honestly expected more research and trials etc, but then i read he was just a plastic surgeon. literally his data was based on a few trials on some mice which originally gave him the idea. some ancient experiment with very elderly people a long time ago. he tried the diet himself. then he had a trial with 10 people that seemed to be more of an asthma trial...then there was a TON of filler talking about foods in general. low calorie recipes...etc. i honestly wasn't impressed with supporting evidence. and even the language he would use is not convincing saying things like "from that one can presume..." etc. then end with testimonials, and don't forget to buy your resveratrol. it was pretty weak. now i think there's something to intermittent fasting and cycling calories, but with all the varying theories on this board from people eating this way regarding how many calories on up days contradicting with what he says he in the book, I'm a little skeptical on his exact recommendations. people here will say "i did x" and someone will say "I did y" and then everyone will coverall with "you just have to experiment and see what works for you". There's a lot of information here from users of these forums. it's almost like a trial going on within itself. some people are having great success, some people are going slower, etc. everyone's different, has different activity levels/will power/medical conditions/age etc that probably all come into play. I'm just hungry for more data and actual information. sometimes I feel like gathering JUDDD success info, looking at numbers/timelines/cals/activity and all that crap and write up a "sheridan success file" post or something for various posters that have had great sucess and just have all the data there and that person, if willing, can contribute and answer questions and have as much information about foods/activity/etc and people can read through and find people that they want to model after or thinke are in similar situations and have a good starting point, etc. I think that would be useful and convenient but there's a lot of information here in threads like this, so sometimes I just find an interesting story and analyze a little myself for my own info... and just did that with sheridan because her success impressed me so much and I did notice that she only just posted dailies this month. when she mentioned that and she was hoping it was useful, I was just thinking what a coincidence because it totally was and I had actually made a graph of her data to look at etc. that is part of the reason I registered and made my "i'm a dude post" cause I could literally find no juddd dudes here to read about other than a few scattered "DH" mentions. sorry to single you out sheridan, you've had great success and are inspirational and I wanna see what you've done and do it myself! lol sooooo....now that everyone is asleep with my gigantic rambling post...I will gracefully exit. ![]() |

Had to post at the end of month since I just started this WOE on June 4th...Lost a lot the first week, but then leveled off for a total loss of 12 pounds and 7.25 inches, with very little exercise. Joining a gm in July so will be stepping up the activity a bit. Darn scale wouldn't show "onderland" this morning but that'll come this month. First time in years and years I hit the 200 mark.

Made my May goal of maintaining at 125. Going to try to make my bounce range 122-125, so need to drop 2-3 pounds.
6/1 125 UD (1589 cal, 158g carbs) 6/2 125 DD (828 cal, 82g carbs) even with the cast party, was able to hit maint. cals for a dd. 6/3 125 UD (1545 cal, 79g carbs) 6/4 125 High DD (973 cal, 61g carbs) 6/5 125 Not counting 6/6 128.0 I got a new scale, it weighs 2 pounds heavier than the old (I'm weighing on both for a bit), so compares to 126. Muscles a little sore from my new ballet workout. 6/7 125 Took back the new scale, back to the old one. 6/8 125 6/9 125 6/10 126 6/11 126 (TOM due any day--I've been a starving beast--but still managing cals well, just too much salty stuff). 6/12 125 DD (back into rotations) 546 cal, 41g carbs 6/13 125 UD (1560 cal, 97g carb) 6/14 126 DD TOM (602 cal, 49g carb) 6/15 126 UD TOM (1672 cal, 91g carb) 6/16 125 DD TOM (749 cal, 51g carb) 6/17 124 UD TOM (1594 cal, 135g carb) 6/18 125 DD TOM last day (655 cal, 59g carb) 6/19 124 UD (1581 cal, 151g carb) 6/20 125 DD (585 cal, 41g carb) 6/21 125 MD (1321 cal, 102g carb) a little high for a md, but oh well 6/22 125 FD 6/23 DNW FD 6/24 126 FD 6/25 129 DD (400 cal, 26g carb) my lowest dd ever 6/26 127 UD (1542 cakm 71g carb) 6/27 126 DD ((419 cal, 39g carb) 6/28 125 UD (1526 cal, 101g carb) 6/29 125 DD (627 cal, 30g carb) 6/30 124 UD (1550 cal, 91g carb)

The only thing is I don't really "get" the low carb juddd thing which he is doing. I'm not knocking it, people may do what they please and have success. It's not really applicable when considering juddd overall, imo. for me, it defeats the purpose of juddd, i was doing just fine with low carb alone progress wise, but it wasn't fun, but I could have kept going. I'm interested in being "normal" every other day and having similar weight loss progress (which is happening so far, so I'm going along with it). |

Ghostface, I get what you're saying but maybe he has health concerns which are helped by LC.
I went through a phase where JUDDD didn't seem "worth it" to me. I felt like everyone else was saying they got through their DDs by looking forward to, as you say, "being normal" on UDs and eating pizza, cake, etc. I'm diabetic, and while I do eat small servings of some carbs, I don't exactly feel "normal" on UDs. So getting through DDs was more difficult, because I wasn't looking forward to anything in particular!!! I was also very stressed and had very little money for food. Now things are a bit better and I can afford to buy UD foods I look forward to: steak, kielbasa, nice cheese, avocados.

Yep PJ, he did mention having wheat issues, and maybe blood glucose issues too. I'm not "low carb"--typically around 100g gross on UD's), but I eat no grains (so no noodles, bread, pasta, etc), very little refined sugar, and no white potatoes. I'm also dairy and egg free due to allergies. So, I'm restricted all the time. No, it's not fun. But it is what has to be for me.
And even when I was following that eating plan (except for the eggs because I didn't know about the allergy), I still stalled big time eating around 1200 calories/day. So JUDDD made a difference in my being able to lose, even without exercising (because I just don't, even though I should), and without changing the foods I ate. |
