Applebee's - yum!

Just had a lovely 7 oz garlic steak, some red potatoes, and a portobello mushroom cap w/ creamed spinach - all for 450 cals. I think I can deal with that!

I ate there twice last weekend - had that one night - delicious! And the next night (UD) had the Grill plate with chicken and shrimp with potatoes - for only 610 calories. Both were really, really good.

Seriously? Do they list the calories on their menu? I have never eaten there but I'm going to have to check them out.

Yep, seriously. They have a 550 cals or lower menu. When I entered my meal into ************, it came to 450 cals ************* had a whole Applebee's Menu pull-down chart.

I had a grilled chicken sandwich and fruit salad at Red Robin last night for 509 calories. It was a DD. I love that more and more restaurants are offering low calorie options.

I haven't been to Applebee's in a long time, but I remember they had a pretty good selection of healthy options.

I had the Garlic steak and shrimp plate for lunch on Sunday, and I think it was around 450 cals, only mine would have been a little less since I didn't have the cream sauce on it. It was very yummy.

I was wondering about the cream sauce dish, but I guess you can't tell me

Dawn - Love Red Robin and glad you were able to find something on the menu for your DD. I, too, appreciate the healthier options at restaurants. Even McDonald's is getting in on the act, advertising 3 options for under 300 cals. Their oatmeal is pretty yummy, and I tried their fruit/yogurt parfait the other day and loved it (all this time, I never tried yogurt because I thought I hated it, silly me).

I don't understand how that is possible??? On ****** just the steak alone is over 500 calories assuming trimmed to 0 fat??? I would love to believe but I am skeptical.

We don't have Applebees close by, but we do have a Ruby Tuesday. I find them to have a great menu! First of all, I have a potato allergy/intolerance, so no mashed potatoes or fries for me, but at RT I can have spaghetti squash or zucchini or mashed cauliflower or even the garden bar! Fantastic side options! (Great if you're keeping low carb too!) They even have a spaghetti squash marinara entree which is only a few hundred calories!

I just wish they'd come out with some more coupons for their fans... I feel like I used to get them more frequently, so hubby and I would go there on date nights. Tonight is another date night, but it looks like we're doing Chili's since we got a gift certificate for there and we still don't have any gift certificates or coupons to RT.

I went to Applebees yesterday and had the garlic sirloin -- I wondered about the calorie count (it's a 7 oz steak afterall), but as it turned out, the portions were satisfying to the point I brought half home to DH! That cut the calories in half! Can't beat it... but the steak was wonderful. I'd never had portabello mushroom before and it was certainly different but I'd have it again. Rather meat-like itself. I was quite pleased, tho -- especially since my son paid for my meal!!

Portabellos are very meaty. Sometimes, on a DD, I'll use a portabello cap in place of a burger patty.

What a great idea!!!! I'd never had one before the one at Applebees, but I can sure see it seasoned as I would a burger, and enjoying it for 25 calories!?!?!? COOL! Thanks!
