Going back to Low carb

Just as I got used to writing low calorie, I'm going back to low carb.

Juddd was working for me, I have no complaints whatsoever, but my problem is that it makes me crave a cigarette and I can't get passed it. I've been trying for a few weeks and it's making me crazy.

It's the reduction in calories that's doing it. If I can't eat, I want to smoke. I tried all sorts of different things to try to work through it but it's too hard and I need it to not be hard.

So I want to thank all of you for your great advice & encouragement & for sharing your knowledge!

I'm sad to hear this, Susan, but we all walk the road that seems best at the time, so I wish you all the luck in the world. I was a smoker for 40 years, so I understand the compulsion to smoke, and how unpleasant it is to fight that during the early months of quitting.

You aren't the only one who has tried JUDDD and then come to find they preferred something about another plan better. As we all know, every diet plan calls for restriction in some manner, and since JUDDD restricts our calories, if you are battling the urge to smoke by eating instead, this plan is really going to put a damper on that. LOL

Good luck with your weight loss on low carb. I wish you nothing but success! Do stop in occasionally to say Hi and to let us know how you're doing, and you know where we are if you decide to join us again.

Good luck!
I didn't smoke last week (sick, sore throat) and I mean to stay quit...I've been eating constantly the last 3 days & I thought it had something to do with feeling better + ovulating but maybe it's (also) the no smoking!

Take care!

The only thing tougher than dieting or quiting smoking is dieting while quitting smoking. I've been quit 4 years next month, after a 20 year pack a day habit, but I also gained 30 lbs doing it.

I wish you the absolute best of luck with both!!!

You have to find what works for you, I would probably still be doing low carb if it didn't make me a cranky B***H !! I also didn't lose anything after induction last time around. I did ADORE the food though and was never hungry and never gained....just maintained perfectly.

Please stop in from time to time!

That was me exactly! I love low carb food. And it still makes up the basics of my diet most days. Yum! But now I'm still eating all my low carb foods, and I've added all the foods I couldn't eat on low carb, and I'm even happier!

For myself, it was easier to eat everything in a somewhat controlled manner than it was to only eat certain things every day while trying to exclude all of the other foods.

We all have a plan that fits. Just happy for us all when we find the plan that is perfect for our own needs!

Curious as to why you can't keep JUDDD'ing and do low carb? I do have to eat a bit more fat on a DD to keep me satisfied.

But, no matter what, best wishes to you and I hope you can quit the cigs. My mom finally gave up smoking last year due to the beginnings of COPD. My brother gave them up as well so he won't follow in her footsteps.

Best wishes!

Susan, I'm glad you're doing what is best for you. Smoking is much more unhealthy than a few extra pounds, and I'm glad you're priorities reflect how important to your health staying away from cigarettes is. And hopefully you'll lose weight on low carb and become healthier that way too!

We'll miss you, pop on in from time to time and let us know how you're doing.

A little off topic here, but have you tried the electric cigs. Both my brother and DH started around Thanksgiving and neither one has smoked since, you have to get a good system though. They both use the EGO-1100, I can find the web site if your interested. My brothers Dr recommended it since Chantix waas not good for him.

she can...it's not low cal that's helping if I'm reading it right. It's the increased calories. It sounds like DD are a struggle right now, so no matter what "diet" you're following you still have to restrict on those days.

OP-you are amazing. I'm so happy to see you taking a step towards increased health. We'll miss you over here, but don't be a stranger! We all have different WOE that will ultimately be the best for us, and what's best now may be different from what's best in a few years....who knows! Just be conscious about how you're doing-as you have been- and don't be a stranger!

Best wishes to you. I think JUDDD is a wonderful program, but, around mid Feb. I moved on to straight calorie counting. The DD's were just too difficult for me. I lost with JUDDD, and I have successfully lost more since going to straight calorie counting. I am now in maintenance and still count calories. I update my stats daily, btw. I wish I could make JUDDD work for me due to the health benefits, but, it just doesn't. I also walk 4 miles daily which also is challenging for me on the DD's. I am sure you will have continued success with LC.

Maintenance, but, I was counting calories while trying to lose also. I am convinced it is necessary for losing and maintenance. I believe OWL is 800 calories per day. Are you referring to the Omaha Weightloss Plan? I am aware some use this plan along with hhcg. I did two rounds of hhcg, but, used the 500 calorie protocol plan. My first round was last May, and second and final round last August.

I hope all is going well for you. As so many others said the cigs are far worse than a few extra lbs.

There's a lot to be said for eating LC, as sugar is trouble for me.

Wishing you well.
