Up day calories?

Hi all, Today is my first UD. Sorry for such a noob question.... I ordered the book and it should be at the house later today to refer to and not ask dumb questions to you all.

I went to the calculator and my UD calories at 20% are over 2800!!!! That seems like a TON. Do I really need to eat that many? WIll I have a better loss if I stick to around 1500, or do I really need to eat that many?

So far I have had 440 calories.
Coffee with cream (100 cal)
Oatmeal square: (220 cal)
LARGE Banana: (approx 120 cal)

If I *really* need to eat up to 2800 I;m going to have to eat something naughty!

Thank you!!! That fixed it. My sleepless mommy brain should have caught that....

UD = 1811, DD = 362. That sounds a lot more inline. I had 450 yesterday thinking I was awesome. Oh well!

So, I have to ask...is there an advantage to eating less UD calories, or will that stall me out? I can easily do 1200-1500. But I wont complain about 1800, either!

Well i have read and experienced my self that the UD are very very important.. for one,, they help with the down days.. not feeling as hungry. but also important to get as high as you can with in like 50 or so of that number or you will stall. or at least slow a bit Oh and That was AWSOME to hit that low of DD number off the bat.. alot of folks struggle with the DD numbers more so than the UD day ones So GOOD JOB!

For at least the first month, you need to do your calories "by the book" (calculator). One of the biggest reasons is that you need to be very well-nourished to start your DD when your calorie allowance will be minimal.

Many people will find they do stall when not eating up to their UD calories. I'm one of them and there are several others who've experienced this.

We want to be able to eat as many calories as we can for as long as we can and still lose. Losing the weight and getting to a maintenance goal, only to find out we have to really limit ourselves on our UD wouldn't be nearly as fun as losing weight and being able to maintain with a very generous calorie allowance, would it?? I think not!

Keep your numbers as close to the calculator numbers as you can, for at least a month. JUDDD works, if you let it.

My best to you!

Thanks to you both! I will absolutely eat all my calories then. Good to hear!!

I was on medi weight loss before....the first week all you get is 500 protein calories per day..then you are allowed a whopping 800 a day until you hit goal. Its REALLY strict, so a DD every other day seems relatively easier.. although it will be interesting to get down to 350 those days.

I'm another one who thought I was eating up to my UD calories (1930) but found I wasn't. I'm a slow loser anyway, but now that I'm eating more on my UD, the weight is beginning to move.

Glad you've joined us!

Yes your UD Calories definetly help fuel your DD. I know eating that many calories on your UD is contrary to every diet you have done before, but this woe is different from what you have tried before. You really have to just jump in with a big dose of faith and if you stay true to the very few rules you will be successful. Stay true to the calories that were calculated for you, I can't stress this enough, and you will lose weight. As has been said by more experienced Juddders than I, this is a very simple woe.
