OMG you poor thing!!! I just found one of these when I was creating my fountain area and she had a giant white egg sack on the end of her!! I just backed away and let her go before I continued moving earth and rock!
I love spiders but they are not creatures that are "people friendly". I sure hope you feel better soon! ![]() |

Yikes Beep, you should have squashed it with all of those eggs waiting to hatch to make more spiders ready to bite.
We have them too up in North Dakota. |

Well....first I felt the bite and looked down and the spider was on me. But even if I hadn't seen it...that first pic was taken about 5 min after the bite. Not everyone reacts to it's poison though...

though I have put a bunch of those nice huge ants outside. We never spray inside or outside unless the wasps come back (attic) or those little sugar ants show up. We don't put any chemicals or fertilizer in our grass, we have tons of worms which my kids get a kick out of watching mommy "save" when they get trapped on the driveway. I also believe in live and let live but sometimes the ants can take over, if I see more than 5 they get annoying. My stupid sister sucks up ladybugs with her vacuum!!! We had an invasion of them in the attic a few years back and I spent hours up there making sure everyone was let out safely, it was magical to watch them all fly away!

Sorry....I've gone to bed early last couple of nights and didn't get on here.
Bite is maybe slowing down, it's not any worse and the redness is abating. Dr. says the center will continue to die for another week and it should be over. I have to go in and have the center debrieded and packed. Here is a pic of how it looks right now....the last pic was taken last night. oh....I've been off diet for a week, plus I started TOM, and I haven't gained an ounce. I haven't really eaten a lot, as I haven't had very much of an appetite, but I've eaten what I want. I guess stress has kept my weight down, which is interesting as I'm an emotional eater, as in I eat when I'm stressed and I gain weight. This is the first time I haven't packed on lbs when upset!

wow! have you tried taking echinacea? Also, I've heard that making a paste with activated charcoal can help draw out the toxins. Idk how to make it, but I remember hearing about that. Maybe you could find that info online. I hope it heals soon!

Here's a good overview:
Brown Recluse Spider They live in the south central states only, and they prefer human-disturbed habitats. They're normally extremely shy spiders, but because they hide in old storage sheds, closets, attics, and other spaces, people can get bitten when they're working. Shake out clothes and shoes that you haven't worn for a while before putting them on, use gloves when you're working in closets and sheds and barns, and use reasonable caution. They'll try to avoid you. |

I am so sorry this happened.
But I am really glad it does not look like the venom is spreading out and out. Of course your body is churning through calories - there is a major battle going on inside you. And you started with your bloodstream full of our friendly little enzymes - they have continued to keep you in fat burning mode. Maybe that is an NSV, when a crisis happens, JUDDD magic hangs around for awhile. |

it will get worse before it gets better that dark spot in the middle? that is necrotic tissue and will spread and will all die hence the need for the debriding
i didn't have any med insurance when i had the bite on my face and so it was rough healing the debriding will help her heal faster than i did ![]() ![]() ![]() |

i never heard about these spiders or their bites until a couple of months ago. Several times a year I meet up with a group of friends in NYC. Most of us live relatively near each and see one another often. However a couple of my friends fly in from out west. One of my friends comes in from California. He wasn't sure he could make the trip this last time because his sister who is from Ohio was staying with him. She had come to visit and stay with him for a while because of health problems she was having.
I think that it was last summer back in Ohio when she was at a pool party. Apparently a nest of these brown recluse spiders was disturbed and she ended up getting bitten on her backside. It was difficult to treat but after a lot of effort it cleared up. Several months passed and she started having trouble with one of her shoulders. The doctors couldn't figure out what was going on. They eventually figured out that she had massive infection in her shoulder and that it was a result of the spider bite(s) she received. Finally they were able to clear that infection up when she came down with a new set of problems. Her short term memory sort of went. It was like she had an early case of altimerzers. After studying her condition the doctors determined that the infection had now settled in her brain and was causing havoc. From what I've heard now they've gotten rid of the infection in her brain but she is still experiencing some of the short term memory issues and they don't know yet if she'll ever recover from that. I also wonder if this infection can yet show up somewhere else in her body.
